For the first time in over years, Seattle University hosts the University of Washington at KeyArena. The game is set to tip off at 7:10 p.m. Dave Grosby and Gary Hill, Jr., will be courtside broadcasting the game on 710 ESPN Seattle. FSN Northwest will televise the game live, with Tom Glasgow and Lenny Wilkens providing the play-by-play and analysis, helped by Jen Mueller and Francis Williams on the sidelines. The largest crowd to attend a Seattle U home game since reclassification began is expected, and it will be interesting to see how both teams respond to such an atmosphere in Seattle. THE NORTHERN ILLINOIS GAME: Seattle University stifled the Northern Illinois offense in the first half, forcing missed shots and turnovers, on its way to a 60-8 victory Saturday afternoon in an ESPNU BracketBuster game at the NIU Convocation Center in DeKalb, Ill. Cervante Burrell led Seattle U with 17 points, plus he pulled down seven rebounds, dished out three assists, and earned two steals. Aaron Broussard finished with 1 points, nine rebounds, and three steals, while Alex Jones contributed 1 points and eight rebounds. Seattle U took advantage of poor shooting and ball handling from Northern Illinois to build a lead in the first half, going on runs of 15- and 9-0 during the period. The Huskies shot only 1.8 percent from the field in the first half, including missing all 10 three-point attempts, and committed 10 turnovers before halftime. Northern Illinois cut into the lead in the second half thanks in part to Michael Patton, who scored six unanswered points to bring the Huskies to within 15 at 9- with 1:7 remaining. After Seattle U extended its lead again to 1 at 50-9, Northern Illinois made one final push, cutting its deficit to 11 at 5-1 with :15 left in regulation, but the Redhawks went 8-for- 10 from the free throw line in the final three minutes to ice the game. Seattle U won the rebounding battle, 1-7, and shot a season-best 80.6 percent from the free throw line (5-of-1). The Redhawks did struggle from the field, making only 0.9 percent of their field goal attempts and committed 1 of their 17 turnovers in the second half.

SCOUTING WASHINGTON: The Huskies enter Tuesday s game with an 18-8 overall record, including a 10-5 record in the Pac-10 Conference to currently sit in third place in the league standings. Washington is coming off a tough 87-86 loss at Arizona this past Saturday. The Huskies are scoring 85.7 points per game, second in the country behind only VMI, and giving up 70. points per contest. As a team, Washington is shooting 8. percent from the field, including 8.5 percent from behind the three-point line, and 66.0 percent from the free throw line. Isaiah Thomas, a strong candidate for Pac-10 Player of the Year honors, leads the team with 16.6 and 5.9 assists per game. Matthew Bryan-Amaning is right behind him in scoring with 16. points per game, plus he leads the Huskies in rebounding and blocked shots, averaging 8.0 boards and 1.8 blocks per game. MBA is shooting 58.1 percent from the field. Justin Holiday is contributing 1.0 points and 5. rebounds per contest. Already without Abdul Gaddy for the rest of the season, the Huskies will probably be without Scott Suggs Tuesday, as he is recovering from a sprained MCL suffered Thursday against Arizona State. SEATTLE U VS. WASHINGTON: This will be the 6th meeting all-time between Seattle University and Washington, with the Huskies holding a 1- series advantage. Washington spoiled Seattle U s first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament with a 9-70 victory in the 195 NCAA West Regional in Corvallis, Ore. The intracity rivals did not meet again until the 1969-70 season, when the two schools split the season series with each team winning on their own home floor. Washington won ten straight games from 1971-76 before Seattle U broke through at the start of the 1976-77 season (78-6). Seattle U s only victory at Washington came at the start of the 1978-79 campaign, an 8-78 victory. Washington has won the last five meetings, including an 87-60 victory on March, 009, in the first game between the two schools in 9 years. Last season, Washington jumped out to a 0- lead halfway through the first half on its way to a 1-76 victory at Hec-Edmundson Pavilion. Charles Garcia led Seattle U with 0 points and seven rebounds, and Cervante Burrell contributed 18 points, four rebounds, three assists, and five steals. THE KEY TO SUCCESS: Since returning to Seattle Center Jan. 1, 009, with a 9-9 victory over Loyola Marymount, Seattle University is 17-7 at KeyArena. The Redhawks finished the 009-10 season with a 10- home record and has compiled a 6- record at the Key so far in 010-11. THE LEADER OF THE REDHAWKS: Cameron Dollar is in his second year as the head coach of the Seattle University men s basketball team. After leading the team to a 17-1 record in 009-10, he was named Independent Coach of the Year. He had been an assistant coach at the University of Washington under Lorenzo Romar for seven seasons. In 008-09, the Huskies won their first outright Pac-10 regular season title since 195. Dollar also was instrumental in helping Washington reach the Sweet 16 in both 005 and 006. Dollar joined Romar at Saint Louis in 1999, helping the Bilikens win the Conference USA tournament championship in 000. After spending one season as an assistant at UC Irvine, Dollar became the nation s youngest head coach in 1998, taking over the program at Southern California College (now Vanguard University), where he went 11- in one season. As a player, Dollar helped UCLA win the 1995 NCAA Championship at the Kingdome in Seattle. CRACKING THE RECORD BOOKS: Freshman guard Sterling Carter has made 65 three-pointers this season, moving into ninth place on the Seattle University list for threepointers made in a single season. He needs two long distance baskets to move into eighth place, past Sam Kirby s 006-07 total of 66 three-pointers. The school record for most three-pointers in a season is currently held by Aaron Waite, who made 89 three-pointers in the 1989-90 campaign. Also, senior Garrett Lever has moved into a tie for fifth place on the Seattle U singleseason steals list with his 6 steals, tying Eric Briggs (1986-87) and Andre Lang (199-9). Ray Brooks holds the single-season record for steals with 8, accomplished in the 198-85 season. THE RELUCTANT WARRIOR: Aaron Broussard started the season with two double-doubles in the first three games, earning 10 points and 10 rebounds in the Maryland and Cal Poly contests. He helped Seattle U earn its first victory of the season with nine points, 1 rebounds, and four assists against Oregon State. He posted career-high scoring totals of 5 points against UC Irvine and 6 points against Navy, pulling down nine rebounds in each contest. Those performances helped put him on the All-Tournament Team at the UC Irvine subregional of the K Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer. On Nov. 9, he hit the go-ahead three-pointer on his way to a 0-point, 1-rebound performance as SU defeated Montana State, 7-70. Broussard currently leads the team in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.0 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Broussard has notched seven double-doubles so far this season. He needs 97 points to reach the 1,000-point mark for his career.

STUFFING THE STAT SHEET: Senior guard Garrett Lever has been doing the little things to contribute to the team s effort so far this season. The son of former NBA player Fat Lever, he has earned.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and. steals per game. Lever finds himself in the right places on the court, as he is currently second on the team in rebounding and leads the way in steals for the second straight season. He scored a season-high 11 points, plus he grabbed eight rebounds, at San Francisco on Nov. 1 and pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds at UC Irvine on Nov. 0. In the Nov. 17 victory over Oregon State, Lever added seven points and six rebounds to the winning effort. THE MAN IN THE MIDDLE: Alex Jones started the season by leading the Redhawks with 0 points at Maryland on Nov. 8. He contributed 10 points in the home opener against Cal Poly and 11 points in the Redhawks 8-80 victory over Oregon State. Jones took advantage of a favorable matchup against UC Irvine, finishing with 19 points, four rebounds, and two assists. On Dec. 18 against San Jose State, he scored a season-high 1 points in part on 6-of-6 field goal shooting. He repeated that 1-point performance Jan. 6 against Eastern Washington, shooting 7-of-1 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Jan. 8 against Cal State Northridge, Jones notched a careerhigh 9 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field and 10-of-11 shooting from the free throw line. Overall, he is averaging 11. points per game so far this season. GETTING OUT OF THE BLOCKS: For Seattle University to have a chance against Washington, it will need a much better start than it has produced over the past two seasons. In the March, 009 meeting, the game was tied at - when Washington went on a 1- run over a nine-minute span in the first half to pull ahead. The Huskies solidified their advantage with a 1-6 scoring run in the final five minutes of the first half to open a -19 lead at halftime. Last season, Washington scored the first 18 points of the game and opened a 0- lead halfway through the first half. The Huskies hit eight of their first ten shots from the field while the Redhawks missed 11 of their first 1 field goal attempts. 010-11 SUPERLATIVES INDIVIDUAL HIGHS Points... 9, Alex Jones, 01/08/11... 1, Mark McLaughlin, 11/1/10 Assists...1, Sterling Carter, 1/15/10 Steals...7, Garrett Lever, 11/08/10 Free Throws...1, Aaron Broussard, 01/19/11 -Pointers...7, Sterling Carter, 01/0/11 Blocks..., Sterling Carter, 11/1/10 TEAM HIGHS Points... 91 at Eastern Washington 1/15/10 FG Made.. at Eastern Washington 1/15/10 FG %...50.0% at Virginia 1//10 -Pointers... 11 at Pepperdine 01/0/11 PT %... 1.7% vs. Navy 11/1/10 FT Made...9 at CSU Northridge 01/19/11 FT %... 80.6% at Northern Illinois 0/19/11 Rbs... 9 vs. Eastern Washington 01/06/11 Assists... 1 at Eastern Washington 1/15/10 Steals... 18 at Maryland 11/08/10 Blocks...6 vs. Cal Poly 11/1/10 TEAM LOWS Points... 55 vs. Portland 0/05/11 FG Made...16 vs. Cal Poly 11/1/10 FG %...7.1% vs. Cal Poly 11/1/10 -Pters... 1 at Northern Illinois 0/19/11... 1 vs. Eastern Washington 01/06/11 PT %...7.1% vs. E. Dr. Grimm was a major part of the Seattle U athletics department during the glory years of SU basketball.

RETURNING TO FORM: Junior guard Cervante Burrell has been showing signs of returning to the form he showed last season. After scoring 1 points in the season opener against Maryland, he struggled in the next two games before exploding for a career-high points in the victory over Oregon State. That started an 11-game stretch in which he averaged 1.9 points per game despite suffering a leg injury against Portland State Dec. 1. He looked like he was back to normal in mid- January with 18 points at Utah Valley and a doubledouble at Cal State Northridge with 0 points and 10 rebounds. After slumping for a few games, Burrell has reemerged in the last three contests. First, he made several key plays in helping Seattle U defeat Utah Valley Feb. 9, finishing with 15 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Against UC Davis Feb. 15, he scored 16 points and once again dished out five assists. He led Seattle U last Saturday at Northern Illinois with 17 points, plus he collected seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals. This season he is fourth in scoring at 10.8 points per game and leads in assists with. assists per contest. Last season at Washington, Burrell finished with 18 points, four rebounds, three assists, and five steals. SMILE, YOU RE ON CAMERA: Seattle University will appear on regional television five times during the 010-11 season. The Maryland game on Nov. 8 was broadcast by Comcast SportsNet Northwest, while FSN Northwest agreed to telecast four home games, including Tuesday s contest against Washington. A NATIONAL SCHEDULE: With the addition of the game at Northern Illinois, Seattle University will play at least one game in every time zone in the lower 8 states during the 010-11 season. The Redhawks started the season in the Eastern time zone at Maryland Nov. 8, plus played a second game in that time zone Dec. at Virginia. Seattle U has played two games this season in the Mountain time zone: at Weber State (Dec. ) and at Utah Valley (Jan. 1). The remaining 6 contests will take place in the Pacific time zone: 1 games in Washington (1 home games plus Dec. 15 at Eastern Washington), 11 games in California, one game in Oregon (Dec. 1 at Portland State), and one game in Idaho (March 5 at Idaho). This will be the second straight year that Seattle U has played a game in the Central time zone, as the Cameron Dollar era began Nov. 1, 009, in Stillwater, Okla., with Seattle U s game against Oklahoma State.
