Winter has arrived in Western New York and the local ski areas are shaping up nicely. Vermont has been blessed these past few weeks with lots of snow and Alberta has great coverage already as well! I hope everyone is able to get out and take advantage of the early season snowfall. The SCOL calendar is starting to get rolling. December 21st is our General Meeting with Christmas Party. Please come join the fun, enjoy some food, exchange Holiday wishes and season opening stories. We will quickly ramp up into the New Year with a full calendar in January, February and March. Please make every effort to participate and enjoy as many events as you can. SCOL...It s Always a Good Time! A great way to stay connected with club events and members is through our website and Facebook page. A key focus for the club this year is growing our D e c e m b e r 2 0 1 6 membership. Keep those referral cards handy to pass out in the lodge or on the chairlift. Please see me at the December meeting to pick some up. Again, refer new members to our website and Facebook so they can see all the activities that the club is doing. I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! MLK Day at Holimont Monday, January 16, 2017 Discounted Holimont Lift Tickets! Members: $34* (with SCOL subsidy of $5) Non-Members: $39 Peggy Schill will be taking signups with payment at the December SCOL meeting. Or you may mail your order and payment to Peggy Schill (see below); mail orders including payment must be received by Saturday, January 14, 2017. You may pick up your pre-paid tickets at the Holimont ticket window starting at 8:15 AM (first lift starts 8:30). Lunch is on your own, anytime you want. You can plug in a crockpot, etc. Around 3:30 PM we ll close out the day with some après-ski conviviality (cheese and crackers provided by SCOL, but bring your own beverages. A snack to share will be appreciated by all!). *IMPORTANT! We need a minimum of 15 participants in order to get the Group Rate. If we do not get the minimum, member discounted price will be $51 (with club subsidy) and non-member price $56. If you purchase a ticket and then have to cancel and would like a refund, you must call or text Peggy at 716-292-1186 before 7:30 AM on MLK Day so she does not buy a non-refundable ticket for you! 2016 SCOL East Trip STOWE & BOLTON VALLEY, VERMONT Feb 11-15, 2017 (Sat-Wed) TRIP INCLUDES: Round trip 55 passenger luxury motor coach leaving Saturday morning from Tops in Lockport, and returning from Vermont Wednesday night. Refreshments and snacks on 8 hour trip to VT. We will stop for wine/beer purchase before checking into hotel. Refreshments and snacks on return trip to Lockport. The Elmwood Shopping and Holiday Party at O'Donnell's was a great way to kick off the C h r i st ma s h o lida y season. This is your last chance to buy a book for this fundraiser. Buy now, and you ll have 14+ months to use! All money must be turned in at the December meeting. Please buy a book for yourself and sell a few to friends and family. They do make a great gift. There is now an App for you phone, and if you register your book, you can get additional coupons throughout the year. SCOL ers who ski together have fun together!! Meet in the AM at Holiday Valley Yodeler Lodge but you can come anytime. Take a break for lunch at 12:30PM in the Picnic Room on the ground floor of Yodeler. Regroup for some great afternoon skiing. Then it's après ski time around 3:00PM...byo. It's Always a Good Time. If you're looking for people to ski with during the week just get on the HV Weekday Skiers email list. Group emails are sent to everyone weekly to let folks know when people will be skiing at HV.
