INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL SPORT FEDERATION and MINISTRY of NATIONAL EDUCATION and RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS & MINISTRY of CULTURE of GREECE ISF WORLD GYMNASIADE 2006 26 th June 3 rd July 2006 ATHENS & THESSALONICA / GREECE BULLETIN 1 Following the decision of the ISF Executive Committee, the ISF World Gymnasiade 2006 will be held at Athens & Thessalonica in Greece. 1. INVITATIONS Invitations to participate in this event are being sent to the National School Sport Organisations which are full or associate members of ISF and for information to the International Sports Federations concerned, the members of the ISF Executive Committee and the members of the ISF Technical Commissions involved. 2. PARTICIPATION AND COMPOSITION OF DELEGATIONS 2.1 Each country may enter one national boys selection and/or one national girls selection in the following sports: Athletics, Gymnastics (Artistic and Rhythmic) and Swimming. It is not compulsory to take part in all sports. 2.2 Maximum delegation size is 130 persons, comprising: Each country must designate 1 head of delegation. The head of delegation should be the sole representative of his delegation in communication with the OC, TC and ISF delegate. A country may designate 1 assistant head of delegation provided that the delegation will consist of athletes and swimmers or athletes and gymnasts or athletes and gymnasts and swimmers. A country may designate a 2 nd assistant head of delegation provided that the delegation is complete (maximum delegation size). 1 doctor provided that the delegation comprises at least 60 persons. 1 physiotherapist provided that the delegation comprises at least 60 persons. A 2 nd physiotherapist provided that the delegation is complete (maximum size). The maximum numbers for each sport programme and the number of accompanying staff, excluding the above mentioned persons, is as follows:

TRACK & FIELD ATHLETICS: maximum number of athletes: 64 maximum number of coaches : 7 as follows: from 1 to 9 athletes = 1 coach from 10 to 18 athletes = 2 coaches from 19 to 27 athletes = 3 coaches from 28 to 36 athletes = 4 coaches from 37 to 45 athletes = 5 coaches from 46 to 54 athletes = 6 coaches from 55 to 64 athletes = 7 coaches But from 2 athletes of differing sexes up to 18 athletes = 2 coaches. ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS: maximum number of gymnasts : 10 maximum number of coaches: 2 maximum number of judges: 2 as follows: 5 boys 1 coach 1 judge (*) 5 girls 1 coach 1 judge (*) (*) In accordance with ISF rules, failure to provide a judge will lead to a fine of 823 EUR per judge payable to the organiser. All judges shall hold highest International status. RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS: maximum number of gymnasts: 9 maximum number of coaches: 2 maximum number of judges: 1 as follows: 1 team of 5 gymnasts (+ 1 reserve) 1 coach 3 individual gymnasts 1 coach +1 judge (*) (*) In accordance with ISF rules, failure to provide a judge will lead to a fine of 823 EUR per judge payable to the organiser. All judges shall hold highest International status. SWIMMING: maximum number of swimmers : 24 maximum number of coaches : 3 as follows: from 1 to 8 swimmers = 1 coach from 9 to 16 swimmers = 2 coaches from 17 to 24 swimmers = 3 coaches But from 2 swimmers of differing sexes up to 16 athletes = 2 coaches. 2.3 All gymnasts and swimmers must be born in 1989, 1990, 1991 or 1992. All athletes must be born in 1989, 1990 or 1991. Younger or older participants will not be accepted! 2.4 In nationally selected teams, all participants must have the nationality of the country they represent.

2.5 Participants must be students in full time education at the school they represent. Individual documents concerning attendance at a school must be presented. They must be attending schools providing a general education (General Rules of Competition (GRC) point 7.3.). The following are not entitled to participate (GRC point 7.7.): a) Pupils of a vocational school - i.e. young people attending a vocational school in addition to their vocational training; b) School teams from schools giving sports training without any general education; c) Afternoon sports schools (schools taking pupils from different schools in the afternoon for instruction in sports); d) Teams set up in companies, universities or other institutions. 2.6 All participants must be officially nominated by the country s National Organisation responsible for school sport. 3. 4. TRANSPORTATION 4.1 The Organising Committee will be responsible for transport following arrival of delegations at Athens International Airport or Athens railway station to the accommodation in Athens, transportation in connection with the event including transportation of all participants to Thessalonica and from the accommodation in Thessalonica to Thessalonica international airport or Thessalonica railway station at the delegations departure. 4.2 The cost of travel from home to Athens and return from Thessalonica to home is the responsibility of participating delegations. 5. FINANCE AND INSURANCE 5.1 In exchange for the entry fees fixed by the ISF Executive Committee the Organising Committee is responsible for participants accommodation and full board during the period of the competition, transportation named in 4.1 and all technical arrangements in connection with the event. 5.2 The payment due to the Organising Committee for each member of the official delegation is 38 EUR per night according to ISF rules for a maximum of 128 persons for each delegation payable upon arrival - that is 266 EUR per person for the whole duration of the competition (7 nights). An additional fee of 15 EUR per person is levied for ISF funds. (266 EUR+ 15 EUR = a total of 281 EUR per person). When the distance between Athens and the capital of a participating country from another continent exceeds 5000 km, the delegation has the right to arrive one day earlier at the normal rate of 38 EUR. 5.3 The payment for every extra person / extra night will be 98 EUR per night. In case a delegation travels by bus, the bus driver will be considered as an official member of the delegation (and will pay 38 EUR per night). 5.4 Each country must have insurance for all members of its delegation. This must cover at least civil liability of the delegation and medical costs. 5.5 Countries who participate in Gymnastics and who fail to send an International judge must pay a compensation fee of 823 EUR per judge to the Organising Committee. 6. DEPOSIT 6.1 Each country must send 76 EUR per participant as a deposit and confirmation of participation. This sum will be deducted from the total due. The above mentioned deposit is non returnable to a delegation which fails to compete in the event without due notice, unless the organisers are informed before in the event of force majeure to be approved by the ISF Steering Committee. 6.2 The Organising Committee must receive the deposit by 30 th November 2005 at the latest.

6.3 Method of payment: By Bank Draft or Bank Transfer to: Name of Bank: National Bank of Greece 3, Mitropoleos Square, 105 56 Athens, Greece Receiver: George Gourdouvelis Account Number (IBAN): GR75 0110 1460 0000 1465 4516 716 SWIFT / BIC code ETHNGRAA Bank charges must be paid by the participating countries. 6.4 The balance of payment can be transferred in EUR to the organiser s account until 26 th May 2006 at the latest (bank charges must be paid by the participating countries) or must be paid cash in EUR immediately upon arrival at Athens. Neither bank cards, nor traveller cheques will be accepted! 7. TECHNICAL RULES 7.1 Detailed rules and regulations will be sent with Bulletin 2 and Bulletin 3 after initial registration. 7.2 EVENTS 7.2.1 ATHLETICS Programme: Girls: Boys: 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, 1500 m 100 m Hurdles (0.76), 400 m Hurdles (0.76) High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Pole Vault Shot Put (4kg), Discus (1kg), Javelin (600g), Hammer (4kg) Swedish Relay (100 x 200 x 300 x 400 m) 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, 1500 m, 2000 Steeplechase, 3000 m 110 m Hurdles (0.91), 400 m Hurdles (0.84) High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Pole Vault Shot Put (5kg), Discus (1.5 kg), Javelin (700g), Hammer (5kg) Swedish Relay (100 x 200 x 300 x 400 m) - Each country may enter 2 competitors in each event and 1 team in each relay. - Each athlete may enter 2 events plus 1 relay, except when he/she is registered in a track event over 400 m. In that case only 1 track event may be entered + 1 relay. 7.2.2 RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS Programme: Each country is authorised to enter a team in the following contests : a) Group exercise: composition of a team = 5 gymnasts (5 ribbons) + 1 authorised substitute b) Individual contest: 3 gymnasts (ball, clubs, ribbon, rope) - The composition and the level of difficulty of the exercises must conform to the regulations which are laid down in the FIG Code for RG (Senior programme).

7.2.3 ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS The programme (boys & girls) is subdivided into two contests: a) First contest or all-around competition containing two results: *Team results (4 gymnasts perform per apparatus, best 3 scores count) *Combined individual results b) Second contest: individual apparatus finals - Each country is authorised to enter 1 boys team of 5 gymnasts and 1 girls team of 5 gymnasts. - The gymnasts of countries presenting less than 3 gymnasts are authorised to take part in the all around competition and individual apparatus finals. - The events will be judged following the FIG Code 2005 2008 (expected to be distributed soon). 7.2.4 SWIMMING The programme will include the following events for boys and girls: Freestyle Backstroke Breaststroke Butterfly Medley 50m / 100m / 400m / 4 x 100m 100m / 200m 100m / 200m 100m / 200m 200 m / 400m / 4 x 100m - Each country may enter two swimmers in individual events and one team in each relay event. - There is no limit of the number of events per swimmer. 7.3 The Gymnasiade will be organised under ISF Regulations and within the Rules of the International Sports Federations concerned under the jurisdiction of the ISF Technical Commissions involved. 8.
