TEAM CAPTAINS Organize team (s) from within your family, friends, company or organization. Encourage friendly competition with other teams. Promote participation through in-house and other media sources. Display Make Tracks for Kids posters in highly visible work areas. Distribute sponsor sheets to all interested team participants. Attend TEAM walk kick-off with pre-registration beginning at 8am on the day of the Walk-A-Thon at the Gazebo in Farmington. Perform necessary follow-up.
PLANNING TIPS 1). Organize team(s) of walking, biking, jogging, running etc. with adults and/or families from within your organization to walk with your team. Encourage friendly competition between departments or between similar competitors. Encourage family togetherness. 2). Promote TEAMS to your management and to your work force. Encourage management participation. 3). Place a sign-up list next to the company time clock, or a convenient location so members may sign up to participate. Please be sure that each walker who signs up receives a registration packet as soon as possible. Monitor progress. Lots of walkers prepaid donations will mean fun and success for your company. 4). Make Tracks for Kids posters should be placed in a highly visible work area. This will help increase company enthusiasm and walk interest. 5). Remind walkers that all pledges need to be paid prior to the event. Team Captain s will collect all pledges from team participants and will need to turn them in at registration time. 6). Encourage your team to assemble at the TEAM registration table no later than 30 minutes prior to start time. The walk will begin at 9:00am, with the assembly location at the Gazebo in Farmington. 7). Please ensure that all donations are put in the donation envelopes for each team member. 8). Team Captains will be given suggestions from the Make Tracks for Kids committee regarding collection of donation envelopes and monies from individual team members. Timely collection from team members will be essential so the team captain can turn in the donations during the registration period.
Walk Information 1). Saturday, October 20 th. The walk will be held regardless of weather. Please plan accordingly. 2). TEAM walkers will be required to use the designated routes: The route will begin at the Gazebo in Farmington, going on the following roads: Main St, Church St, High St, Perham St, Fair View Ave, through Mt Blue Middle School onto Cascade Brook School and back to the Gazebo which is a 2.5 mile walk or bike ride. 3). All participants will start and end at the same location. (The Gazebo in Farmington) 4). Companies and employees may want to make TEAM walking a Family Affair with their spouse and/or children walking with them. The Task Force encourages family participation and each family member can have their own sponsor sheets to add to your team pledges. 5). Get noticed! Have t-shirts made up with your team name and logo along with the phrase is part of the team that prevents child abuse and neglect!. This is a great way to get your business or organization name out in the public. 6). At the beginning of the walk we will be serving muffins, fruits, juice, and water. At the end of the walk the Task Force will be taking photos of the teams. Since you will already be in the park it might be a great opportunity to have a picnic with walkers and family members. 100% of all money raised from the Walk-A-Thon will stay within the Franklin County and Livermore Falls area to support and strengthen the Franklin County Children s Task Force s current programs that MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF CHILDREN.
