Fortnite Tournament Thoughts Check with the IT person about using the internet for gaming. Our first one was an all-nighter. That really wasn t necessary I think next time it will stop about midnight or 1. {Probably easier to get sponsors.} We allowed 7-12 graders play. We charged $12.00 per player (they thought $50.00 team was too high). Students from other schools could form teams. All teams (squads) completed an entry form that included where they went to school and grade they were in. There were 4 players on a squad. Students brought their own systems, consoles, T.V., etc. All we supplied was electricity and wifi. We also supplied table/desks and chairs. (even though some brought their own chairs) You may need extension cords and strips. Each squad was in a classroom with a score keeper or squad monitor. That person does need to have knowledge of the game. Be prepared they like the lights off when they are playing. Some kids played around a table others would spread out across the room with a player in each corner. We considered using a large room like the gym or cafeteria but I think outlets would have been a problem. Since players were in different rooms they really didn t interact with each other so there really was not trouble between the squads. We also had teachers/sponsors that would walk the halls and check in on the rooms. We had a concession stand with very unhealthy foods that the kids loved. We did sell Monsters but limited the number they could buy. After mid-night we sold breakfast burritos. Kids had to clean up rooms before they could leave. If you are going to use other teachers rooms (we used coaches, they seem to have the least decorations) take a picture of the room so you can put everything back where you found it. Someone will borrow a chair from one room and it will not get returned and you will be in trouble on Monday!!!! We had a kid be like an MC and he would get on the PA every hour or so and give updates and scores. We would have scheduled breaks for the restroom and the concession stand. I will definitely do it again. It was a lot of fun, really not a whole lot of preparation on my part. You attract such a wide variety of students. I still do not understand this game!!!!!! If you have questions or need more information please contact me at pgrimes@baird.esc14.net

FINAL SET OF RULES- NO CHANGING This Fortnite Tournament will be split into two groups, XBOX and Playstation. Rules: 1.No Swearing 2.No Cheating 3.No unsportsmanlike conduct 4. Mouse and keyboard are permitted but will NOT receive there part of the reward if they win. It will be given to the team that placed below them. 6. The tournament WILL begin at 7:00 P.M. and WILL end at 6:00 A.M. this will give us time to announce the winner. Contestants must clean up their area and be out of the school by 6:30 A.M. 7. No outside food or drink is permitted. A concession stand will be stocked full, and waiters will be coming to designated playing areas for order placement. 8. There WILL be mandatory breaks taken. Every 3 hours of gameplay, there will be a 30 minute rest period for refreshment and relaxation. 9. ALL teams WILL stay in their assigned playing rooms. This will limit confusion for scorekeepers. 10. After 12:00 A.M. gamers are required to stay the night. There will be no exceptions with this rule. Notice: If a gamer leaves the building before 12:00 A.M. they are not getting a refund and they cannot re-enter. They also do not have a good chance of winning. Know the rules and have fun. This is supposed to be a fun event! Please respect the workers and one another. Any violation of rules will result in automatic disqualification. If a disqualification occurs, you will reside in a waiting area until you have a ride home, or are fully checked out. There will be absolutely no refunds. Team Rules: 1.You can choose whoever you want to be your squadmates as long as they are in between the grade of 6th to 12th and can prove it (school ID or letter/drivers license). Your squad must also have an appropriate team name when entered. 2.You must have a squad of 4 to enter the Tournaments In Fortnite unless you want to do it with less. Scoring system: Each kill will count as 1 point and placement of top 10 will earn you points. 10th place will earn 1 point, 1st will earn 10 points, for example, if your team places 7th with 10 kills, your team will receive 14 points for that game. Whatever team has the most points at the cutoff time will win! BAIRD ISD IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING CONSOLES, T.V. UNITS, ETC. BAIRD ISD WILL ONLY BE PROVIDING ELECTRICITY AND WIFI. Good luck and may the best squad win!
