Drive Time In case you are still hibernating from the cold weather or just arrived with the snowbirds, TBCR has Been out there driving and having fun. Since the last column we have had a great run out for the Tubac car show sponsored by the Santa Cruz Valley Car Nuts and a great Valentine Breakfast Run. If you missed these, there are more events in the next few months. You can read about the Tubac show elsewhere this month and some great pictures. This past weekend was our annual Valentine Breakfast Run with this year s stop at Christine Erkman s home to enjoy a fabulous brunch put on by Joe and Christine. Many thanks for all their work and hospitality. There were almost 40 people at the brunch with 18 or more cars at the start. We had some fun negotiating (or not for some participants) the new Alvernon bridge and River Bend intersections. We continued up through the twisting roads back and forth through the Foothills before heading across Tucson for a drive along the Tucson Mountains. The weather was a perfect as it could be with lots of sun and mild temperature. I hope that you all enjoyed the run and come along again soon. We have a busy schedule this spring with both TBCR sponsored events and region s ones. You can see a list of events in the calendar each month in the Octagon or on the web site. Our next event is the annual (lost count of the number) Tour de l Garage. We have some surprises this year as well as some recurring visits. The event starts at 8:30 AM at Ernie s British Cars on Wetmore Rd. With coffee, donuts, etc. We can relax and see what s cooking in the back at Ernie s and get a few parts for the day s run. Never know when you are going to need that new whatsis. Perhaps we can give an award to the person with precognition for that day. The schedule runs as follows: 8:30 - meet at Ernie s British Cars on Wetmore 9:30 - drive east to Newton and Brenda Johnson s to see Triumphs, a Corvette and some interesting Triumph parts 10:30 - drive to Andy and Susie Voss s to see his MGTD and his restoration efforts on an early Land Cruiser 11:30 - head to Ben and Megan s to see if we added to the collection and have lunch (don t forget it s BYO Lunch) 12:45 - drive east to visit David Cummin s collection of 3 vintage Ferraris and his over 350 car models. David was 34 years with Chrysler Corporation in Styling and Engineering 2:00 - drive south to Woody s Collectible Autos to see his complete operation and collection of cars. Plan to spend the day or come and go as you please. We will have drinks and dessert for lunch at our house, so you only need to bring your lunch. You can also stop at Swan and Sunrise area and pick up something, if you choose. I will send out complete route instructions by mail. If you want a hard copy by mail call me at 299-5166 and it s yours. March will bring the 2nd Saturday Breakfast Run to March 10 and a Cruise and Schmooze on March 24. Also, we will be going to the Marana Founders Day car show on March 17. Pre-registration is $20 in advance for TBCR members or $30 on the day of the show. This was a great event last year. We will meet for an informal breakfast at 8 AM at the Sky Writer Café at Marana Airport. We will leave there for a short drive to the park.
