This will be the first match up between Bethesda and Weber State. The Wildcats are coming off the 2014 season with a 11-18 overall record and a 6-12 record in Big Sky Conference play. They are returning nine athletes including three seniors in, Tinisha Toussaint and Brittney Dunbar and two juniors in Deeshyra Thomas and Dionne Coe. Head Coach Bethann Ord is in her fifth season leading the Wildcats and added two new faces, JD Gustin and Matt Thune brought to the coaching staff. Weber State s pre-season will include games against Portland and Washington as well as three against in-state rivals with BYU, Utah Valley and Westminster. Friday s season opener against Bethesda will be broadcast live on watchbigsky.com and live stats will be available at WeberStateStats.com. UP NEXT The Wildcats will next host the College of Charleston on Wed. Nov. 18 before hitting the road for four consecutive road games against CS Fullerton, Portland and a tournament at North Texas to play North Texas and Stephen F. Austin. The Wildcats will return home to host in-state rivals BYU and Utah Valley. LAST WEEK S ACTION The Wildcats took down Western Oregon in an exhibition match up 71-42. The Wildcats jumped to an early 13-7 lead and never let Western Oregon catch up. The second half went in favor of the Wildcats as they continued to charge to end the game 71-42. Okoye led the Wildcats with 20 points going 10-10 from the field. Junior Deeshyra Thomas contributed 13 points for the Wildcats going 5-6 from the free throw line. Kaile Quinn had the game high of six assist. Quinn and Dionne Coe added two three pointers for the Wildcats. Weber State ended the game 48.3 percent from the field and 90.9 percent from the free throw line. Jocelyn Adams had the game high of six rebounds. The Wildcats had 23 steals to the Wolves seven. Weber State had 14 turnovers to Western Oregon s 31. Brittney Dunbar led the Wildcats with seven steals and Okoye added six. SERIES HISTORY - BETHESDA This will be the first meeting between Bethesda. SERIES HISTORY - DENVER This will be the fourth meeting between Weber State and Denver. The Pioneers led the series 2-1. The last time Weber State played in Denver was in 1999 where they fell 43-49. The last match up between the two teams was during the 2014-15 season. Denver made the trip to Ogden to play in the annual Field Trip Day. The Wildcats came from behind to defeat the Pioneers 65-63. LOOKING AHEAD Something to look for this preseason are the North Texas Tournament take on North Texas and Stephen F. Austin. We also have a trio of home matches against in-state rivals Brigham Young, Utah Valley and Westminster. Big Sky Conference play will start Jan. 2 at Idaho State to take on the Bengals. The first home Big Sky Conference game will be Jan. 14 against Portland State for the annual Field Trip day.

HEAD COACH BETHANN ORD Overall Record (4 seasons: 2011-15) Overall: 20-96 (.172) Conference: 9-65 (.121) Bethann Shapiro Ord is beginning her fifth seeason as head coach of the Weber State women s basketball team. Ord was named head coach of the Wildcats in May of 2011 after a long career as an assistant coach. She is the fifth head coach in WSU women s basketball history. Ord came to WSU with 22 years of coaching experience. Before coming to Weber State she spent four seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Louisville. At Louisville, Ord was instrumental in the Cardinals signing three top 15 recruiting classes and one in the top five. She also helped bring two high school All-Americans to Louisville. A native of Rochester, Ord earned her bachelor s degree in psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 1989. She was a three-year letterwinner and starting point guard for the Retrievers. She earned a Master s degree in Elementary Education from Wagner College in 1992. The Ord File Louisville - Assist. Coach (1989-90) COACHING STAFF Weber State head coach Bethann Ord is returning for her fifth season at Weber State. Returning with the Wildcat coaching staff is Devan Newman who is also in her fifth year. There are two new additions to the coaching staff this year with JD Gustin and Matt Thune. Gustin served the last four years with the University of Utah s women s basketball program. Before his time with the Utes he was the head women s basketball coach at Westminster and led the team to five consecutive NAIA National Championship appearances. Thune spent the last three years on staff with Lousiville women s basketball including two as the program s video coordinator. RETURNING WILDCATS After losing three seniors off last years squad, Carlee Lough, Brianna Averette, and Zakiyyah Shahid-Martin the team is returning nine players including seniors, Tinisha Toussaint and Brittney Dunbar. Okoye has played in 86 career games and started 80 games. She finsihed the 2015 season leading the country in steals averageing 3.68 per game and had a total of 107 on the year. Toussaint has played in 84 career games and started eight games. In one year at Weber State, Dunbar has played in 21 career games and started eight games. The returning juniors are Deeshyra Thomas and Dionne Coe. Thomas battled with injuries last year but still remained a leading point guard for the Wildcats. Coe redshirted last year with the Wildcats. Sophomores Jocelyn Adams,, CeCee Wooten, and coming back as well. Quinn was one of the teams top scorers averaging 6.2 points per game and played in all 29 games starting in 15. Quinn also racked up 62 career three pointers last year. NEWCOMERS The Wildcats are welcoming four new freshmen to this year s squad including Tyschal Blake, Yarden Danan, Emily Drake and J aimoni Welch-Coleman. 2014-15 SEASON RECAP The Wildcats are coming off a 11-18 overall record and 6-12 Big Sky Conference record. Weber State started off the season with three consecutive wins for the first since the 2006-07 season. The Wildcats picked up a big double over time win over New Mexico State with a final score of 100-97. Weber State picked up six conference wins including two over Southern Utah and one over Northern Arizona. They ended the year with a thrilling overtime loss to Eastern Washington falling 64-62. Weber State took on No. 19 Oklahoma State last year only falling by six to the Cowgirls and manage to keep the score within three the majority of the game.
