1. Date WCSSAA Girls Basketball Playing Rules and Regulations 1.1 The Waterloo County Secondary School Athletic Association Girls' Basketball Schedule shall be played in the months September to November unless extraordinary circumstances dictate a change. 2. Location 2.1 The locations of the regular season and play-off games shall be determined by available facilities. 2.2 The locations of the games shall be as they appear in the WCSSAA sports schedule unless extraordinary circumstances dictate a change. 3. Competitive Divisions 3.1 There shall be two (2) competitive divisions: Girls' Junior League; Girls' Senior League. 3.2 Refer to WCSSAA Bylaw 2 Section 2 a(iii) for age requirements. 3.3 A Junior basketball player may play in one (1) senior league game and still retain her junior status. 3.4 When a Junior player plays her second senior league game, or is in the scorebook, she forfeits her junior eligibility for the duration of the season. 4. League Structure and Procedures 4.1 The WCSSAA Girls' Basketball League will consist of one (1) division playing 12 games. 4.2 Visiting teams may not arrive at the game site more than forty-five (45) minutes prior to the starting time. 4.3 Playing facilities and visitor dressing room facilities should be set up and available at least forty-five (45) minutes prior to the games starting time. 4.4 Game results are the responsibility of the home team. Results will be dealt with according to the procedures established by the convenor for that season. 5. Play-Offs 5.1 The play-offs shall consist of a qualifying round, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals. 5.2 The top twelve (12) teams from the regular season shall enter the play-offs.

W.C.S.S.A.A. Girls' Basketball 2 5.3 If a team forfeits a game or games, and if that team is tied with other teams at the end of the schedule, then that team would be relegated to the lower standing between the teams tied. 5.4 Tie-breaking procedures in final standings if two (2) teams are tied: 5.4.1 The Head to Head Record of tied teams against each other will be compared. Head to Head Record Compile a record of each teams wins and losses against the tied teams. The team with the most wins, wins the tiebreaker 5.4.2 If still tied, the Win/Loss Record Against Common Opponents will be compared. Win/Loss Record Against Common Opponents Compile a record of each teams wins and losses against their common opponents. The team with the most wins, wins the tiebreaker. 5.4.3 If still tied, the Point Differential Against Common Opponents tiebreaker will be used. Point Differential Against Common Opponents Determine the difference between the points for and the points against for each of the common opponents played to a maximum of 15 and a minimum of 15. (A win, would give the team a positive point differential and a loss, would give the team a negative point differential.) Add up all the positive and negative point differentials. This is a team s Point Differential Against Common Opponents. The team with the highest Point Differential Against Common Opponents wins the tiebreaker. 5.4.4 If still tied, a Strength of Schedule tiebreaker will be used. Strength of Schedule A list of all the teams that each of the tied teams has played will be compiled. The number of wins of each of those teams will be totaled. This total is called the tied teams Strength of Schedule. The team with the higher Strength of Schedule wins the tiebreaker. 5.4.5 If still tied, a Coin Toss tiebreaker will be used. Coin Toss One team is heads, the other is tails. A coin is tossed and whatever lands up wins the tiebreaker. 5.5 In a situation where 3 teams are tied, AND ALL THE TEAMS HAVE PLAYED EACH OTHER. 5.5.1 The Head to Head Record of tied teams against each other will be compared.

W.C.S.S.A.A. Girls' Basketball 3 5.5.2 If the teams are still tied, Point Differential (max. 15) among the teams tied will determine the highest place finisher, and then head to head will be used to determine the seeding of the other two teams. 5.5.3 If still tied, we follow: 5.4.1 5.4.2 5.4.3 5.4.4 5.4.5 to find the highest placed finisher. Head to head will then be used to determine the seeding of the other two teams. 5.6 In a situation where 3 teams are tied, AND THEY HAVE NOT ALL PLAYED EACH OTHER. (Team A B & C ) 5.6.1 Team A beats team B, team A will always be placed ahead in the standings. Strength of Schedule will then determine where team C will be placed in the mix. Examples Team A beats team B but the other teams have not played, we look at strength of schedule. If team C has the strongest strength of schedule the standings would result in: (C-A-B). If team B has the strongest schedule followed by team A and then team C the standings would result in: (A-B-C). If team A beats team B, and team B beats team C, but A and C do not play, the standings would result in: (A-B-C). If team A beats both team B and C, and team B and team C do not play, then team A would be placed ahead of team B and C. To determine the order of team B and C, we follow 5.4.1 5.4.2 5.4.3 5.4.4 5.4.5 to find the higher placed finisher. 5.7 In a situation where 4 or more teams are tied 5.7.1 The process below is used until three (3) teams are left and then 5.5 or 5.6 will be used. 5.7.2 Head To Head (Will be used only if one of these teams has beaten all of the teams with which they are tied, putting this team ahead of all others.) 5.7.3 Ties will be broken following: 5.4.1 5.4.2 5.4.3 5.4.4 5.4.5 until a highest place finisher is determined. The process will then start again at 5.7.1 with the remaining tied teams.

W.C.S.S.A.A. Girls' Basketball 4 5.8 Qualifying round games will be: 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams have byes Game A Team 12 at Team 5 Game B Team 11 at Team 6 Game C Team 10 at Team 7 Game D Team 9 at Team 8 5.9 Quarter Final games will be as follows: Game E Winner D at 1st Game F Winner C at 2nd Game G Winner B at 3rd Game H Winner A at 4th 5.10 Semi-final play will be sudden death.
