Resources for Showing Beef Animals The following resources are available at https://extension.unl.edu/statewide/knox/animal-resources/ or from the extension office: Tips for Showing Beef Guide for Livestock Showmanship Contest Scrapie Information We have had some questions about the Scrapie Program and scrapie tags. In 2001 the USDA initiated a program to eradicate scrapie from the nation s sheep flocks and goat herds. The Nebraska State Fair requires that all sheep and goats be identified with a scrapie tag and these are the guidelines that Knox County follows. Information on the Scrapie Program can be found at http://www.nda.nebraska.gov/animal/diseases/scrapie/index.html Need tags call toll free 1-866-873-2824, select option 7 to request official ear tags at no cost and/or a flock ID number. Watering Information for Pigs at Fairs Benny Mote, UNL Swine Extension Specialist has shared information about providing water to your pigs at fair time. Benny shares that water is the most important nutrient you provide your pig to keep them looking and performing their best.
