NFCA Educational Conference &Association Meeting April 15-19, 2013 Drury Plaza Hotel, San Antonio, TX Greetings Fellow Fireproofing Contractors and NFCA Members; The 2013 NFCA Educational Conference will be a two part meeting. April 15-17 has been set aside to allow training and examination of DRI s so contractors can be accredited in either SFRM or IFRM under the NFCA Contractor Accreditation Program. April 18-19 will focus on the Educational Conference, Committees and Annual Business Meeting. Each year we have provided a varied set of presentations for our Educational conference that have assisted our membership in every day operational activities as well as motivated our membership. Presentations will focus on contractor needs in securing the best bidding and field production. Included is a presentation that covers the effects of the Fiscal Cliff on business cost. Summaries of programs to be presented in San Antonio follow. A copy of the detailed conference program is attached. IBC Code Affecting Fireproofing Contractors The International Building Code affects all participants in our market. Our presenter will discuss each detailed section of the code so that you will have a complete understanding of the code. Best Practices for Fireproofing Contractors On Center Software personnel have experience in the best practices that should be followed by the contractor in the bidding and estimation arena. Supplier Forum This is time set aside for our suppliers, including associates, to discuss ongoing issues as well as new and innovative products that will help you improve your business opportunities. Cause & Effect Why Estimation & Production Don t Match This program will cover reasons why what is estimated cannot not always be reproduced on site and its effect of the bottom line of the project. Discussions on recommendations to aid in fixing the issues will take place.
On Center Software Takeoff and Production Control On Center Software will come back to show how their software can greatly assist the bidding and production control aspects of a fireproofing project. Fiscal Cliff Effects on Business Since we have passed the January 1 fiscal cliff, results of agreements taken during the negotiations and how those actions affect your business will be reviewed. There is anticipation that by April we may go over another expense cutting. All of these actions could affect your business. NFCA Activities Update This time will be used to let you know activities that we are undertaking to provide assistance to the industry. This presentation will help you understand why the NFCA needs your support. Committee Meetings Committees meetings will be held Thursday afternoon. Your participation is encouraged and joining a committee will facilitate committee work. This year is the second meeting of the new Canadian Committee. Committee agendas will be available well in advance of the meeting for your review. Optional Programs As part of the Education Conference program, we are offering optional programs for our attendees. On Wednesday April 17 starting at 9:30 AM a golf tournament will be held on the Quarry Golf Course. All golfers are urged to participate with a fun day in the sun. On Thursday April 18, a guided tour and lunch will be available to our conference guests. Two major art museums in San Antonio will be toured followed by lunch. Details and registration forms for both of these programs are attached. Hotel The Education Conference will be held at the Drury Plaza Hotel, San Antonio, TX on the River Walk. The specific hotel location is 105 South St. Mary s Street. Please make your room reservations directly with the hotel. The NFCA has a base room rate of $129.00 plus taxes for the nights. A car parking fee of $19.00 per night is charged by the hotel. It is important to mark your calendar with the hotel reservation cutoff date of March 14, 2013. After that date the rooms will be on a space available basis. Be sure to reference the National Fireproofing Contractors Association group number, 2160880 when making your reservations. The Quarry is a course carved out of an old limestone quarry that supplied cement for the State Capital of Texas. Both the McNay Art Museum and the San Antonio Museum of Art offer collections of the Southwest culture but also a full collection of notable art from around the world. The program will conclude with lunch in the San Antonio Art Museum s renowned Café des Artistes. The NFCA will be provided a guided tour of each museum. McNay Art Museum The museum collection has now expanded to nearly 20,000 works including: Medieval and Renaissance art. 19th- through 21st- century European and American paintings, sculptures and photographs. One of the finest collections of prints and drawings in the Southwest. The exceptional Tobin Collection of Theatre Arts. Jeanne and Irving Mathews Collection of Art Glass Art of New Mexico San Antonio Museum of Art It s not unusual for the first-time visitor to be astonished at the size and scope of the Museum s collections.
