HEAD COACH JULIE WILHOIT Julie Wilhoit enters her 11th season as the head coach of the Loyola Marymount University women s basketball program. A recipient of the West Coast Conference Coach of the Year award three of the last six seasons, she has steered the Lions to 90 wins in the last five years, including LMU s first ever WCC Championship, an appearance in the 2003-04 NCAA Tournament, and consecutive appearances in the WNIT Tournaments in 1999-00 and 2000-01. At home that record becomes even more astounding as Wilhoit s Lions are 58-19 in Gersten Pavilion over the last six years. In 2003, the Lions defeated IUPUI for Wilhoit s 99th win at LMU. With the win, she passed Todd Corman to become the winningest coach in LMU women s basketball history. Wilhoit was the first LMU women s basketball coach to earn the WCC s top coaching honor in 1999-00 and the first at LMU to win it in consecutive seasons. Wilhoit is only the second coach in WCC history to garner the award two years in a row. In 2004, she added to her honors by winning the WCC award for the third time in five years. She was also named the Russell Athletic/WBCA Regional Coach of the Year for Region 8. The region represents head coaches from the Pac-10, Big West, and West Coast Conferences. She was a national finalist for the NCAA Division I Russell Athletic/WBCA Coach of the Year award. In just ten seasons Wilhoit has led LMU through a march from the bottom half of the conference finishers to the top. The Lions, due in large part to Wilhoit s direction and leadership, have become a consistent top tier WCC team and broke into the national spotlight with their record breaking season in 2003-04. The Lions finished with the best record west of Montana, and the 13th best record in the nation. LMU received votes in both the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 poll and the AP poll. Wilhoit s 2005-06 squad is reloaded with talent and ready to make another run at the championship. Wilhoit was appointed the fourth head coach in LMU women s basketball history on June 30, 1995. Wilhoit came to LMU in July 1995 after a two-year stint at the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford where she posted a mark of 33-26, including a school-record 22-11 mark in 1994-95. A head coaching veteran of 15 years, Wilhoit has an overall coaching record of 252-223. She coached for five seasons at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis where she posted a record of 88-44 including a 45-17 mark in her final two seasons. Wilhoit led IUPUI to back-to-back 20-win seasons in 1990 and 1991 and a Final Four appearance in 1991, where IUPUI lost to Southwestern Oklahoma in the semi-finals. After a two-year coaching hiatus, Wilhoit rejoined the coaching ranks at Pitt-Bradford and took over a team that had posted a 4-20 record the year prior to her arrival. With nearly the same personnel from the previous season, the team posted an 11-15 overall mark, one of the biggest turnarounds in collegiate basketball that season. The following season, she led the team to its best record ever at 22-11 and helped it advance to the championship game of the Keystone Empire Collegiate Conference. Following her successes at IUPUI and Pitt-Bradford, Wilhoit was hired at LMU to help rebuild the women s basketball program. In her first year as the Lions head coach, Wilhoit led the team to a non-conference winning season, the first since 1992-93. The squad also beat Santa Clara on the road, marking the program s first conference road-win since the 1990-91 season. The program hit a rough spot following that first season, but under Wilhoit s direction,

the program has continued a process of constant improvement. The 2000-01 squad exemplified that by recording the program s first ever 20-win season. The 2001-02 Lions posted a 15-13 overall mark recording the programs first ever back-to-back winning seasons, and the 2003-04 team shattered LMU s record books. In 2003-04, Wilhoit and the Lions had yet another productive year defending the home court, posting an impressive 12-1 mark in Gersten Pavilion. The only loss was to #4 Duke in the LMU Marina del Rey Marriott Beach Classic. A strong believer in the LMU philosophy, Wilhoit is dedicated to excellence in academics, as well as athletics. She has coached a number of highly decorated student-athletes including the 2003-04 WCC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Kate Murray, and the 1995 Emil S. Liston Award winner Diane Eggleton. The esteemed award is given to the top junior in the NAIA, male or female, based on both academic and athletic accomplishments. Every player that has exhausted her eligibility while playing for Wilhoit at LMU has graduated from the school. Wilhoit is also active on basketball committees nationally, serving on the WBCA (Women s Basketball Coaches Association) Board of Directors as the West representative. She has served on several Player of the Year and All- American committees, including the State Farm Wade Trophy and Kodak All-American. Wilhoit enjoyed a decorated basketball career at Marian College in Indianapolis, Indiana. A four-year letterwinner, Wilhoit once held the school s career scoring record with 1,489 points and ranks among career leaders in steals and rebounds. She was a two-time team Most Valuable Player and earned NAIA all-district honors following her junior and senior seasons. A 1985 graduate, she earned her bachelor s degree in physical education from Marian College. While coaching at IUPUI, she earned her master s degree in education from Indiana University in 1988. Wilhoit began her coaching career at Marian College as an assistant coach during the 1986-87 season. Last year, Wilhoit was inducted in Marian College s Athletic Wall of Fame. Wilhoit s professional work experience falls outside of the realm of coaching as well. In 1996 she helped cofound Sneaker Sisters, a non-profit community organization which promotes sports and fitness to economically disadvantaged girls on the westside of Los Angeles. Wilhoit currently serves as an honorary board member for the non-profit organization. She also served as the Director of Fitness at the National Institute for Fitness and Sport in Indianapolis from 1988-1993. She is active in community service in the Los Angeles area, including the local YWCA. In the spring of 2005, Wilhoit was honored for her community services efforts by being named the YWCA Santa Monica/Westside Woman of the Year. She was also chosen to receive one of LMU s Herstory awards as part of Women s History Month. Born on Jan. 14, 1963 in Greensburg, Indiana, Wilhoit spent most of her adolescence growing up in the small town of Osgood, Ind., population 2,000. She played basketball and graduated from Jac-Cen-Del High School in 1981, a high school rich in basketball tradition. The Indiana native and three-time West Coast Conference Coach of the Year currently resides in Culver City, California. wilhoit s career record Overall Conference Year School W L Pct. W L Pct. ASSISTANT COACH LYNN FLANAGAN Lynn Flanagan begins her 15th season as an assistant coach, and her 18th season associated with the LMU women s basketball program. Flanagan assists Head Coach Julie Wilhoit in all facets of the LMU basketball program. She serves as the LMU women's basketball recruiting coordinator, overseeing all of LMU's recruiting efforts. On the court, her primary coaching responsibilities include working with the point and shooting guards. LMU has had tremendous guard play during Flanagan s tenure. Twice in the last five years, two guards were named first team All-WCC. In 1999-00, Rosa Bernasconi and Bryn Britton were honored, and the next season, Taryn Reynolds joined Britton on the first team. Britton became LMU s all-time career scorer under the tutelage of Flanagan. The threetime first team All-WCC guard scored 1,662 points in her four years (1998-02), and played professionally in Germany after she graduated from LMU. One of the all-time great West Coast Conference women s basketball players, Flanagan still is one of the highest ranked in WCC history with 1,436 points in her career. Her senior year was one of the best ever in LMU history. She held the school records for most single season points (469) and free throws (144), both of which she set during her senior season in 1990-91. Also that same year she averaged 16.75 points per game and posted a.796 free-throw percentage, ranking her second and third on the single-season charts in both categories, respectively. As if that was not enough, the 162 field goals she collected that year rank sixth best in a single season. Flanagan still owns the career record for free-throws (337) at Loyola Marymount and ranks third all-time in games played (114). Her on court accomplishments and dedication to the University and especially the women s basketball program have earned her a spot in the LMU Hall of Fame. She is the first women s basketball player to be inducted into the prestigious club. The four-year letterwinner received All-West Coast Conference first-team accolades following her senior year and garnered All-WCC honorable mention honors as a junior. Flanagan received her undergraduate degree in liberal studies with an emphasis in education in December 1991. Prior to entering Loyola Marymount, Flanagan was a prep standout at Louisville High School in Woodland Hills, Calif. She was named to the All-San Fernando Valley League first team both her junior and senior campaigns. Flanagan was also an All-CIF first-team selection as a senior, and an All-CIF honorable mention pick as a junior. Born Oct. 1, 1969 in Encino, Calif., Flanagan currently resides in Hawthorne, Calif.

ASSISTANT COACH TAMI ADKINS Tami Adkins begins her sixth season as an assistant coach under Julie Wilhoit. She wil oversee all administrative aspects of the program including, the team s equipment needs, scheduling and team travel. She will also oversee the team s academics and alumni efforts. Adkins assists with practice development, and scouting. She also coordinates the team s community service efforts. LMU has had great success with its post players during Adkins tenure. Adrianne Slaughter was a two-time All-WCC first team selection, and was named the 2002-03 WCC Defender of the Year. The Lions have also had great success in the classroom while Adkins has been a part of the program. Kate Murray (1999-04) was named the WCC Scholar Athlete of the Year, as well as the LMU Scholar Athlete of the year in 2004 after completing work towards an MBA degree. Adkins served on the Lions staff during the 1994-95 season before accepting an assistant coaching position at her alma mater, the University of San Francisco. During her five years at USF (1995-2000), the Dons enjoyed two NCAA tournament berths, advancing to the Sweet 16 in 1996. That 1995-96 team, of which she was a member of the coaching staff, was inducted into the USF Athletic Hall of Fame in February of 2003. While on the Hilltop, Adkins worked primarily with the team s guards, scouted opponents and played an integral role in San Francisco s recruiting efforts. Adkins enjoyed a stellar four-year (1989-92) playing career as a point guard at USF, culminating with first-team All-West Coast Conference honors in 1992-93, her senior year. The previous season she captained the Dons West Coast Conference Co-Championship squad and also earned all-conference acclaim. Adkins finished as the school s all-time leader in steals and set a conference single-game record with 11 swipes against Cal State Northridge in 1990, which still stands today. She currently ranks seventh on the WCC single-season steals list with the 94 steals she made in 1992. Of that total, 54 came in WCC games a mark that ranks third in the conference record book for steals in conference games. A WCC All-Academic Team selection as a senior, Adkins graduated from San Francisco in 1993 with a degree in political science. Born Aug. 21, 1971, she is a native of Oxnard, Calif., and resides in El Segundo, Calif.

2005-06 SUMMER PROSPECTUS ASSISTANT COACH WILL CALLENEN Will Callanen joins the Lions coaching staff for his first season. Callanen is the former head coach of the varsity boys basketball team at Brentwood School, and led his teams to two league titles and four CIF playoff appearances. He will work primarily with the post players as well as recruiting and scouting. He will assist in LMU s offensive development in addition to practice planning. Callanen served as the head coach of Brentwood from September 1999 to July of 2004. The Eagles qualified for the CIF playoffs during four of his five seasons. In his third season, he led the team to the CIF quarterfinals with a 22-7 record overall. During the 2002-03 season, the Eagles captured the Alpha League Championship and advanced to the CIF quarterfinals for a second straight year. The Eagles took things one step further in 2003-04, winning the Alpha League Championship for the second year, and advancing to the CIF semifinals with a 23-6 overall record. At Brentwood, Callanen oversaw the entire program in addition to his duties as the head coach. He helped add a freshman team which had the largest participation of any athletic program on campus. He ran successful camps, leagues and tournaments. He taught high school level team sports, weight training, cardio fitness and health and nutrition classes. He also served as the chairman of the K-12 physical education department. Callanen is a 1993 graduate of the University of Arizona, earning a bachelor's degree in Health Sciences.
