He also spent fi ve years as the head coach at West Chester. At Bloomsburg, Hale has posted a career record of 114-40-1 and holds the school record for most coaching victories. Overall in 18 years as a head coach he has a mark of 154-53-1 (.739) and is ranked among the top 10 active coaches in NCAA Division II in winning percentage. He has led the Huskies to seven shared or outright PSAC Eastern Division titles and four NCAA post-season playoff berths. In 2005, Hale led the Huskies to a record of 11-1, including an unbeaten (11-0) mark in the regular season. It was just the fourth time in school history that a Bloomsburg team went through the regular season without a loss. He also led the team to the NCAA Division II playoffs for the fourth time in his 13 years and the fi fth time in school history. He earned PSAC Eastern Division Coach of the Year honors for his efforts. The Huskies also reached the NCAA championships in 1996, 2000 and 2001. During the 2000 season the Huskies were 12-3 and advanced to the NCAA championship game, eventually losing in the title contest. The team reached the fi nals after rallying from a 19- point defi cit against UC-Davis in the national semi-fi nals to post a 58-48 win. Hale earned the American Football Coaches Association Division II National Coach of the Year following the season. Hale has also earned AFCA District I Coach of the Year honors seven times, including back-to-back years of 2000 and 2001. He has been named the PSAC Eastern Division Coach of the Year ten times, including four straight from 1994 to 1997. Hale also coached Irv Sigler, the winner of the 1997 Harlon Hill Award as the nation s best Division II football player. Sigler fi nished the year as one of the few players ever in Division II history to average more than 200 yards per game rushing. Bill Zwaan begins his fourth season as head coach of the Golden Rams after leading West Chester University to the NCAA Division II playoffs two years in a row. In 2004, Zwaan was chosen the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Coach of the Year as his club posted a school-record 11 victories in fi nishing 11-4 overall. The Golden Rams won the PSAC East, captured the Division II Lambert Trophy for the fi rst time since 1967, and claimed an NCAA Division II Playoff victory for the fi rst time in the history of the program. Zwaan s career record is 84-27. The former Widener University head football coach and director of athletics took over the Golden Ram coaching reins in February of 2003. He owns the all-time highest winning percentage at Widener at.794, while his record ranks seventh among active NCAA Division III head coaches with at least fi ve years of head coaching experience. In addition to being named the Middle Atlantic Conference and Region II Coach of the Year in 2000 and again in 2001, Zwaan was named the Tri-State Region Coach of the Year by the Maxwell Football Club and was also honored as the American Football Monthly Coach of the Year. Zwaan was a standout quarterback at the University of Delaware and led the Blue Hens to the 1974 NCAA Division II National Championship game as a junior. LAST GAMES WEST CHESTER (W, 31-29 at Bryant - NCAA First Round) Tyler Downes picked off a pass with 1:22 left in regulation, preserving the West Chester University 31-29 victory over Bryant University in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs in Smithfi eld, RI. With Bryant driving down the fi eld for a potential game-winning score, it was Downes diving in front of a Charles Granatell pass at the WCU 22-yard line, allowing the Golden Rams to advance to the Northeast Region Semifi nals next Saturday at Bloomsburg University. The Golden Rams never trailed in the contest but could never pull away from the Bulldogs. Michael Washington caught a 75-yard touchdown pass from Bill Zwaan at 9:46 of the fi rst quarter for a 7-0 WCU lead, but Ryan Buckley countered with an 11-yard TD catch to tie the game just four minutes later. Brent Steinmetz, who rushed for 141 yards and two scores, made it 14-7 WCU with 1:53 left in the fi rst on a four-yard run, but Bryant tied the game again when Vince Norris inhaled a 34-yard TD catch. Brandan Hargrose made it 21-14 with a six-yard burst in the second, but Bryant scored again when Alex Chapparo caught a three-yard pass for a touchdown on fourth down with 4:12 to go in the fi rst half. However, the Bulldogs missed the PAT and could never catch up to the Golden Rams. Alex Walsh made it 24-20 before the break on a 25-yard fi eld goal before Bobby Heilmann booted a 26-yarder with 4:55 left in the third to make the score 24-23 WCU. Steinmetz upped the lead to 31-23 just before the third period expired on a fi ve-yard run, but Lorenzo Perry pulled the Bulldogs with two on a six-yard run. Bryant attempted a two-point conversion, but Mike Walter intercepted the ball and returned it to the Bulldog 40 before being hauled down. #6 West Chester at #3 Bryant November 18, 2006 Score by Quarters INAL #6 West Chester 14 10 7 0 31 #3 Bryant 7 13 3 6 29 2 BLOOMSBURG (W, 35-6 at Cheyney - 11/11/06) The Bloomsburg University football team captured the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division title with a 35-6 win over Cheyney University on November 11th. Bloomsburg will fi nd out its post-season fate on Sunday when the bids to the NCAA Division II championships will be announced on ESPN News at 1 p.m. Bloomsburg opened the scoring on its second drive of the game when quarterback Dan Latorre hit tight end Luke Kuklick with a 48-yard touchdown pass to put the Huskies in front 7-0. Cheyney scored its only touchdown of the game later in the period when Dominique Curry scored on a 73-yard pass from Ronald Thompson. The extra point was blocked giving the Huskies a 7-6 lead. In the second period the combination of Latorre to Brahin Bilal clicked twice for the Huskies. Early in the period Bilal caught a 15-yard pass for a 14-6 lead, then with under a minute to play in the half, caught a six-yard pass from Latorre for a 21-6 advantage. Bloomsburg put the game out of reach in the third period with a pair of scores. Tailback Josh Heck, subbing for the injured Jamar Brittingham, capped a 13-play, 91-yard drive with a 23-yard scoring run, then later, Ryan Schuck returned a punt 56-yards for a score to make it 35-6. It was the second straight year Schuck has returned a punt for a touchdown at Cheyney. In the fourth period, Huskies coach Danny Hale emptied his bench as the team celebrated its PSAC East title, its eighth under Hale, by dousing the coach with a bucket of water. Heck fi nished the game with 98 yards rushing, while Latorre was 8-11 for 146 yards and three scores. Latorre has now gone 112 consecutive passes without an interception. Defensively, Rob Biernat made six tackles, while Phil Riccardi added four.

BLOOMSBURG VS. WEST CHESTER LAST TIME Quarterback Dan Latorre passed for a career-high 273 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another to lead Bloomsburg to a 30-27 win over West Chester in front of a Bloomsburg homecoming crowd of over 6,100. Bloomsburg opened the scoring on the game s fi rst drive when the Huskies drove 54 yards in 17 plays with Jon Koenig connecting on a 39- yard fi eld goal attempt. Later in the fi rst period, Latorre connected with a wide-open Brahin Bilal on a 57-yard scoring pass to make it 10-0 at the end of the fi rst half. West Chester cut into the lead early in the second period when Alex Walsh hit a 20-yard fi eld goal to make the score 10-3. The game stayed that way until just before halftime when Latorre capped a 70-yard scoring drive with a nine-yard run for a 17-3 lead at the break. Zwaan threw touchdown passes of 21 and 48-yards, the latter capping a 99-yard drive, that came with 1:23 to play in the game. The team is exited about the playoff opportunity and is remaining focused on the One Game at a Time motto. That s the way we ve approached regular season and it won t change for post-season. ON THE RAMS... West Chester is an outstanding opponent with the ability to score a lot of points. They play an aggressive defensive style and are well coached. They ve been strong in their special teams play so we will have to be at our best in all three phases of our game. 3

In just his rookie season, Evans is the starting right guard for the 6-4 team. Before the Saints fi rst loss of the season, Evans had a streak of 15-straight regular season wins dating back to the Huskies 2004 season. Before Evans, the last BU alumni in the NFL was Eric Jonassen who was drafted as lineman for the San Diego Chargers in 1992. The most notable former Husky in the NFL was the Giants Bob Tucker who had an 11-year career in which he caught 422 passes for 5,421 yards and scored 27 touchdowns. Tucker still ranks fourth all-time in school history with 131 receptions.
