Danceworkz Newz February 2017 I will be sending the newsletter via email the first week of the month and hardcopies will be available in the lobby if you don t have email access. You can also find the newsletters on our website. Please make sure that you review the information each month. Important information will also be posted on the bulletin board. Also, like us on the SG Danceworkz and Fitness Studio, LLC Facebook page and receive current reminders and information. Welcome Miss Maddie: We would like to welcome Miss Madeson Leske to our teaching team! Miss Maddie has a lot of dance experience and a lot of experience working with young children through her church! She is excited to put these two passions together! Her photo and biography can be found on our website. Miss Maddie will be a substitute for the remainder of the year and will also be taking over the Tuesday Creative Movement class. We are sad to announce that Miss Kailey will be doing a study abroad program and will be unable to complete the year with us! Miss Kailey has been a great asset to our team and we are sad to see her go, but are so excited for her future and wish her the best of luck! Thank you and Congratulations Miss Kailey and Welcome Miss Maddie! Community Performance Company: Our Community Performance Company has been extremely busy this new year completing community service hours and entertaining the community! We were fortunate enough to be invited to perform at Bluffview Memory Care and Lake Winona Manor, and the kids did a phenomenal job and really made the day for a lot of people. We have several more community performances lined up for February & March! Special thanks to: Miss Addie, Miss Molly, Miss Kacey, and Miss Vanessa for assisting with choreography and rehearsals! Great job Performance Company: Julia Auerbach, Emily Benke, Julie Benke, Kyra Benson, Risa Borland, Melanie Butenhoff, Kaitlin Celius, Alivia Douglas, Kendal Goyette, Jaydan Kaehler, Jocelyn Lockington, Trinity Merchlewitz, Lexi Schneider, Aubrey Schossow, Hannah Siegler, Olivia Stark, Morgan Starzecki, Emily Swartling, Skylar Templeton, Abby Thiele, Miranda Thill, Alexis Urbick, Lexie Viestenz, Mae Watkins, Mitchell Whillock, and Anna White. Performance Company Placement dates for 2017-2018 have been set and additional information regarding program expectations and costs will be available within the coming months! Spring Break: Reminder that the studio will be closed March 6 th 10 th, 2017 for Spring Break. Inclement Weather: Thank you to everyone for assisting us with keeping the studio clean by removing shoes in the entry way! It has been extremely helpful and assists us in keeping the sand and salt out of the dance studios and off of the dance clothes & shoes. Also, special thanks to the anonymous dance family who donated slippers to the studio for guests to wear! Thank you so much for the thoughtfulness and gift! We have been hit hard this new year with inclement weather! In the event of bad weather, we will try to make a decision as soon as possible. We always send out an email and also post to Facebook in the event that we feel it is in the best interest of the majority of our students to not have class. We do NOT always follow the school district s decision. We also have a lot of students that come from out of town. In the event that we make the decision to run classes, but you do not feel your particular drive is safe, please do not take any chances. The option for make-up is always available if you wish to do so. ADDITIONAL REMINDERS: Studio Apparel: Please refer to the front desk for information, pricing, and ordering. Payment must be received prior to order being placed. Orders typically take approximately 2-4 weeks. We also have water bottles available for $8.00. Donation Bin: If you are looking for new shoes, you can look through the donation bin to see if there is a pair that fits you. If you wish to recycle your shoes and add them to the donation bin, please see Sheena or drop off at the front desk between 5-7pm! Shoes & Tights: We will be placing an order for dancewear, shoes, and tights on the 15 th of each month. Please plan accordingly. Any orders that need to be placed in addition to the 15 th will be charged separate shipping. Lost & Found: Reminder to check the lost and found bin weekly! We only keep things at the studio for 2 weeks before donating them! KEEP MOVING: Monique Young Master Class: We are very excited to announce that Monique Young will be coming to SG Danceworkz on Saturday, February 11 th for two master classes. Monique has an extensive background in the dance industry and will be running Jazz Funk and Hip Hop Master Classes. See bulletin board for her biography and additional details! We hope you will be joining us for this exciting activity! 2 P a g e

4 P a g e DANCEWORKZ IN MOTION 2017: Danceworkz In Motion 2017 to be held on Saturday, May 27 th (1pm & 6pm) at SMU Page Theatre. All classes will be in both shows, and a show order has been posted on our bulletin board and website! We will be releasing a Danceworkz In Motion 2017 Newsletter in March or April. In this newsletter, we will include information that you may need or want to know for the recital, including checklists of what to bring, when to be there, etc. Please look for this in the coming months and ask if you have ANY additional questions! Costumes: If you haven t paid for the remainder of your costume balance, please take care of this as soon as possible. Instructors have shown a picture of the costumes to all classes and a master binder is up front with a picture of each class costume and also information regarding hair, shoes, tights, etc. We have all this information available on our website. Please ensure that you know what kind of tights and shoes you need, and purchase early. You can purchase through us or on your own. We are tentatively scheduled for a Costume Try-On Week for the week of March 27 th. Students will try on costume at the end of class and run their dance in them. I do have a few classes that their costumes will not be in for that week, for those classes we will try them on as soon as they come in! If your account is current, you will take the costume home. Any alterations that need to be taken care of will be your responsibility. Please do not allow your child to wear their costume at home. If something were to happen to it, we would be unable to get a replacement in time for the show. Recital Music CD s: We will be offering the opportunity to purchase a CD with all your edited recital music on it. If you decide to purchase a CD, the cost will be $2.00 per CD (not per song). Envelopes and sheets to complete are on the table in front of the recital bulletin board. Please fill out the sheets and place the envelope and $2.00 into the payment mailbox. CD s will be made as soon as possible and given to your student. There is also an option to add a video of the choreography via Dropbox. Program Proof On the table underneath the bulletin board, we have a program order with student names. Please be sure to check all your numbers and the spelling of your name. If there is an error or you were accidentally omitted, please make the corrections, legibly on the sheet. If it is correct, please initial next to your name so I know you checked it!

Ticket Sales Tickets will go on sale on March 6, 2017 and will be available online and through Page Theatre Box Office. Online sales will begin at 10am and will be available 24/7 after that. Tickets will be available at the box office beginning at Noon that day. Box office hours are typically Monday-Friday 12pm-6pm, excluding some holiday closures. Ticket prices will be $10/ticket (plus additional processing fees). The link to the box office is posted on our website, as well as through the SMU Page Theatre website. Please note that handicap accessible seats initially will be by request only, please notify the box office if you need this accommodation. We encourage and request that you stay for the entire show, if you know that you must leave before the show is over, please try to purchase a ticket close to the aisle. Picture Day Picture Day is Saturday, May 6, 2017, and will take place at the studio! The picture day order is available on our website and bulletin board. We will be utilizing LifeTouch as our photographers again this year. Purchasing pictures is optional, but we do ask that even if you do not plan to purchase pictures, you attend Picture Day for the group picture. We like to have everyone in our studio group pictures! Please note that for pictures you are able to do hair however you wish, but shoes, tights, and all other costume pieces should be worn as requested! Please arrive early as we cannot wait for people! Dress Rehearsal We will be having a Mandatory Dress Rehearsal on Friday, May 26 th at SMU Page Theatre. The order and specific times has been posted on our bulletin board and website. The dancer does not have to stay for the entire night, but must be there for the hour(s) time frame that their number is listed. This is a full dress rehearsal, so please bring all costume pieces, tights, and shoes. Full make-up and hair is not required, however this is a good time to practice if you wish. There will be a run through of our curtain call at the end of each hour. Please ensure that your child attends at least one run through of the curtain call, so they understand how it will work on Saturday. Parents are welcome to stay during dress rehearsal, but if the auditorium become distracting to too loud, we will ask for parents and siblings to leave the auditorium and we will have a closed dress rehearsal. No food or drink in the auditorium at any time and no videography or flash photography. Please ensure all SMU rules are followed. Curtain Call: At the end of the recital, all students will be coming back onto the stage and doing a small curtain call dance and a final bow. The dance will be taught to all dance classes so that all students know the number. We encourage you to stay to the end of the show so that all students 5 P a g e

get the opportunity to participate. We have just under 2 hours worth of dance content for the show, so we are looking at a show that will last approximately 2.5 hours (give or take). Videography There is a strict no flash photography or video recording rule at Page Theatre. I have arranged to have Artistic Video Productions come to film the 1pm show. They have a lot of experience with filming dance performances and will be producing high quality DVD s that families can order to have a keepsake of their dancer s show. Order forms will be available prior to the recital and orders will have to be paid prior to ordering. Cost will be $35/DVD. Volunteer Options We want to make sure everyone is aware of how the recital will be run this year. We have a contract with Page Theatre that we must provide volunteers, but can also NOT go over a certain number of people in each location. We cannot have people watching the show from the back. If you are willing to volunteer for a show, I will assign you the location that I need filled. I will ensure there are plenty of parents/instructors to take care of the kids, and please rest assured they will be in good hands. You are welcome to purchase a ticket to the show and watch it in the auditorium, sign up to volunteer for a show, or you can drop your child off (sign them in) and pick them back up at the end of the show. Staying with your child and not being a volunteer assigned to that spot or watching the show from the back is not an option and this will be strictly enforced per contract and facility policy! Please assist us by following these rules so we are able to use the beautiful space in SMU in coming years! The recital time can be extremely overwhelming with lots of information! Most of the items, until you personally see and do it once, it is hard to know exactly how it will go! As we are only in our 2 nd year, I am also learning alongside of you and promise to make things as smooth and stress free as possible! Please refer to the bulletin board on the very front wall as we get closer. This will have all the recital information and there will be a table underneath it will information as well! As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!!! I am available via text, email, Facebook, and phone call! 6 P a g e
