INFORMATION FOR THE FIRST WEEK OF CLASSES All parents & students must enter through the back door entrance (on the Northeast side of the back of the building). First day of classes will be Tuesday September 13th. Please double check the schedule on the website as there may have been some changes made. Please remember to use the website for all necessary information. All newsletters will also be posted in the back room area as well as the front office area. Please make sure to talk with one of the instructors or staff if you have any questions. We will also be posting any updates to our Facebook page. Water machines are available in each studio provided by the Crowsnest Festival Society. If you send a water bottle with your child please ensure it is properly labelled as to not be thrown out. STUDIO RULES Respect the building and all the staff, helpers and your fellow dancers Please ANGLE PARK in front of studio. DO NOT park in the tenants spots to the LEFT of the front door or at the back! All dancers must enter through the back door to the change area. Place all outdoor shoes on the provided shoe racks. Please do not block off the back entrance and absolutely NO OUTDOOR SHOES IN THE DANCE STUDIOS!!! Use the provided hooks for jackets and new shelves for all book bags. Clean up dressing rooms after eating, playing etc. Do not leave personal items on the floor use your lockers! Proper dance attire must be worn at all times - NO jeans or baggy clothing. Ballet students must have proper bun. No loose jewelry it can be dangerous If waiting for your child please remember it is a QUIET waiting area Students must have a quiet activity during breaks - NO running around or leaving the building please. Please arrive early to the studio so you can get ready and not be LATE!! If you need help please come during office hours or email Miss Fenton with your questions or concerns Children must all arrive with their proper dance attire, shoes and hair pulled back neatly (for ballet it must be in a proper ballet bun!) DANCE ATTIRE Everyone should have the proper attire and hair at ALL TIMES!! Please refer to the website if you are unsure of what you need. TAP SHOES please replace laces with elastic and check all screws aren t missing or loose. Please label ALL of your child s dance shoes it makes it a lot easier to find in the lost and found bins! The Crowsnest Dance Society has a fundraiser where they are selling Mabel s Labels! Each studio has a lost and found basket for lost items. DANCE FEES, STATEMENTS & OUTSTANDING ACCOUNTS All post dated cheques must be into the office no later then OCTOBER 1st, 2016. Statements will be sent out by email this year.. We will be sending home your income tax statements at the end of January.Please keep your account up to date. If you fail to we will notify you and your child WILL NOT be able to attend classes until the matter is looked after. We hope everyone understands we truly do not want to have to enforce this matter. There will be a late fee added onto any late dance fees, statements paid late, etc. KEEP INFORMED ON TPDS NEWS We are always updating parents and students with information for the studio whether its cancelled classes due to weather, rescheduled classes or special events around the studio. Make sure you are part of of studio Facebook page Turning Pointe Dance Studio Crowsnest and that you check our website turningpointedance.ca regularly for all information. We also have all the newsletters etc posted on the bulletin boards throughout the studio! If you have any further questions don t hesitate to come to the front desk. Remind App BRING A FRIEND WEEK Get information from TPDS right on your phone! This will be a quick way for us to inform parents of class cancellations, important info, reminders of important dates and more. Many schools use this app and find it such an easy way for teachers, parents & students to contact each other. Pick a way to receive messages for TPDS September 20-23 is Bring a Friend Week. We are welcoming all of our student of any level to bring a friend this week to any of their classes - every dancer who brings a friend will have their name entered into our draw to win a free months tuition!!! 1. Your job would include help with phoning & assisting your class on picture day. If you are interested please email Miss Fenton ASAP! DRINK PUNCH CARDS You may purchase a punch card from the front desk for $20 that is good for 10 drinks from the back fridge. There is water, gatorade, and flavoured waters to choose from.
FESTIVAL UPDATES We will be posting a first draft of the privates schedule by the second week of classes. We do have tentative lists posted at the studio so please check to see that you have your spot and the time and day marked works for you. Please email or speak to your teacher if you have any ideas for music, etc. We have a photo album started of some costumes you can rent. We encourage you bring a photo of past costumes you may have to put into the album as well as the price you are looking to rent it out for. We want to have all costume orders finished by the first rotation of privates. All parents must approve and see the costumes your child is ordering. WEEK 1 Festival rotation begins Saturday October 1st. We do require a $100.00 deposit on each costume we will not order your child s costume without it. Costume deposit is due by October 15th, 2016. It is your responsibility to make sure you know your time and day and week of your private. If you cannot make your private YOU must find someone to switch with or you will be billed for the missed lesson. All rescheduling of privates need to be done through Miss Kandis. All privates scheduled will be posted on facebook and tend to change so make sure you are checking frequently to see if your private has moved or not - it is your responsibility to know when your private is!! FESTIVAL, BALLET EXAM & YEAR END MEETING This parent meeting will be held on FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 23rd from 7:30-8:30 Everyone is expected to come to this informative meeting which will cover all information for dance competitions (solo & group dancers), ballet exams (primary - vocational levels) and information about our annual year end show. Miss Fenton will be discussing locations, important dates and more and this also also allow you the chance to ask any questions you may have about any of these topics DISNEY 2017 MEETING If your child is interested in joining us in Disneyland for Disney Dance the Magic this summer then you do not want to miss this meeting. FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 23rd 8:30 pm. This summer dance opportunity is open to TPDS dancers 8 years of age and older. With a special opportunity for those dancers 13 and older for an extended 3-4 days dance experience prior to dancing in Disneyland. Calling all former dancers!!!! Are you a previous dancer who is looking for a non committal way to get back into dancing for some exercise and fun do we have the class for you! We are offering a 12 week seasonal class to former dancers aged 13 and up This class will give the dancer the opportunity to study various types of dance styles throughout the season! If you are looking to get back into the studio for some fun dancing contact the front desk to sign up! TPDS CLOTHING ORDERS We are again ordering studio dance wear from Studio Love. We will have samples of the clothing at the studio for sizing etc. We will have some same items as last year and some new ones as well. Samples are available in the back SR homework room. Order forms are available at the front desk and need to be brought in by October 1st.

This fall our studio is partnering with twitch, Allison Holker, Kathryn McCormick, and over 40 of LA s top choreographers to bring our students a new training program. This innovative program from CLI Studios will provide our students with new online educational resources throughout the year. This training from CLI Studios choreographers is exclusive to a limited number of studios this fall, and we re so excited to announce that our studio will be participating! What s Included in the CLI Studios Program: Turning Pointe Dance Studio is partnering with CLI Studios to provide amazing new educational resources for our students.
