No issues raised. Captains Report Firstly, I d like to thank you for the support I ve received from the Membership, Management and Committee of Kilworth Springs golf club throughout the year. Particular thanks to Ann Vicary, Luke Atkins, Terry Redmond, Stuart Glover, Ian Thompson and many others for their advice and guidance. The condition of the golf course has once again received mixed feedback but on the whole, it was very favourable. A change of Head-Greenkeeper during the year has already started to show signs of a more progressive improvement to the course, for example the remodelling of the greenside bunker at the 17 th shows what is possible. I wish Jack Mayfield and his staff a very successful year. The Main Committee, Competitions and Handicaps Sub-Committees have been well attended throughout the year. These meetings take time and effort in preparation and organisation. The work the Committee put in on your behalf should be recognised for what it is; A personal sacrifice and commitment by each of them, ensuring the enjoyment of your game at Kilworth Springs. I personally thank them for their efforts and wisdom throughout the year. Congratulations go to Grant Sharman and the Scratch team who have been promoted to Division 4 of the Leicestershire and Rutland Golf Union Scratch League. The Thursday night get together once again proved successful for team building and game sharpening opportunities and will continue into the new season. The B team continued to have varying success with Stuart Edwards as Captain and will continue to participate in the Leicestershire B team league in 2017 with Stuart continuing to lead the team.
The ladies led by Sarah Smith in 2016, continued to grow with an increase of entrants in most competitions. Sarah has kindly agreed to continue her Captaincy into 2017 assisted by her new Vice-Captain, Sheila Major. The Seniors led by Steve Watson played in 25 matches; winning 14, halving 3 and losing only 8. Once again the Seniors Open was a big success and will be improved upon in 2017. Good luck to Alan Jacques in his year of captaincy of the Seniors section. The Juniors section once again failed to materialise during the year, however, our new Assistant Professional, Ollie Walmsley, has great plans for the future. Unfortunately, we were unable to hold a Kilworth Open in 2016, however, the introduction of a Committee Invitational Tournament still allowed members to reciprocate invitations to their friends to a competition at Kilworth Springs. We intend to continue this event in 2017. On the social side of events, we tried a couple of new ideas during the year, including a Race Night and Christmas dinner following the Christmas Scramble. However, the Prize Presentation evening was poorly attended and we are looking to change the format of this event in 2017. The bonfire and fireworks evening once again was a great success, many thanks again to Peter Van Herrewege for his continued support. My Captains charity the Voluntary Action Group for South Leicestershire (VASL), has been well supported throughout the year and we have managed to collect over for their worthy cause. Thanks to everyone for your contributions, they have been well received. There will be a cheque presentation to the charities at the Captains Drive-In on Saturday 28 th January. Thank you all. It has been a personal honour to represent Kilworth Springs golf club throughout 2016 and I wish Stuart Edwards all the best in his year of office. Finally, I want to thank my wife Marie and family for their support throughout the year.. Finances Stuart gave a comprehensive overview of the combined finances. Copies of accounts distributed to all. Proposed and passed. James Robertson asked the question what are the intentions to spend some of the 4781.39 held in the accounts. Management Report Welcome to my first annual general meeting report, I would like to begin by thanking our outgoing captains; Dave, Sarah and Steve, all the members and officers of the committee and all volunteers, who throughout the past year have given up their time for the good of the club. Throughout the year, we held some successful social events which were enjoyed by our members, guests and visitors. One event in particular which was a huge success was our bonfire and firework s evening. To which I would like to thank Peter Van Herrewege for his kind support again this year. In addition, we have included a number of new events for the 2017 season. Please look out for Cross Country golf, members v staff, golfer & non-golfer, Thursday medal and the return of sundowners. These events, much like our winter and autumn social program have been designed to appeal to the widest possible range of members and families. To help keep our members updated on all social events and club house activity we will be publishing a monthly e-newsletter. If you have not yet signed up but would like to receive a copy of the e-newsletter, please complete and return on of the forms on the bar. We are proud to say that Adrian Todd has made a significant impact following the restructure to the catering operations at the beginning of the year. He has received high praise from all our team captains regarding the quality of the food throughout last years matches.
One the course, while we have been very happy with the condition this year, we did encounter some difficulties along the way. Jack Mayfield, who became our head greenkeeper following Paul Brazier s exit mid-season, has provided a report, highlighting this year's course progression, which will be made available to our members following this evening meeting. Furthermore, we were able to recruit Sam Bates from Kirby Muxloe. Sam became Jack s Deputy and with his international experience and vast knowledge of the industry, has quickly become a great asset to the club. With Jack, Sam, James and Rich we have now established a great team moving forward. On other fronts, as a club, we have a commitment to provide our members, with the best value for money memberships. We are also aware of the need to be constantly reviewing our operations to ensure we achieve this. With this in mind we have managed to restrict the increase to the membership across most categories to just 20.00. We will also be publishing a three-year development plan. In addition, we will continue to plan the refurbishment. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to reveal the specific details, but as soon as we finalised the plans, a detailed report will be released to all our members. At the back end of the season, we welcomed Ollie Walmsley to the team. Ollie who became our new assistant professional is currently finishing off his PGA qualification at the Belfry. He has a keen interest in rebuilding our junior set-up and hopes to establish a team to represent the club in the Leicestershire and Rutland league. To which will continue to offer all Full seven-day members an additional junior membership free of charge for the 2017 season. In reflection, we can all agree that it was a year of change for the club. We have already begun making changes around the clubhouse and will continue to do so over the forthcoming year. But I would welcome any suggestions that you may have which would help improve your golfing experience here at Kilworth Springs. Please complete and return a feedback card which will be available from February 1 st. To finish, I would like to welcome our incoming captains: Stuart, Sarah and Alan, and wish you all the best for the 2017 season. Issued raised to the management team Tony Foster asked if more rakes for the bunkers could be added, Management to review. Dave Storey raised that there was an issue with not all members receiving emails from the club, Management to review. Any Other Business Mike Dewick asked if we could install flags to represent the location of the hole on the greens, Mike suggested maybe a colour system, Jack Mayfield highlighted that this
would cause additional work to the greenkeeping staff especially at weekends but agreed he would review. Alan Jacques thanked Ann and her team on behalf of all of the members. Date of next meeting Thursday 25 th January 2018
