THE MOST-ASKED QUESTIONS

Transcription:

A beautiful day final arrived for all of us Wednesday at Dunham Hills. The club membership should be truly proud of the players that came out this week along with their guest. Outside of the club s special events and year end tournament we hit the number of 34 players of which we had five guest, two coming on board with the possibility of three other to join this club. Congratulations to all the members who are out there hamming it up about this fine group of golfer. With all the rain, we have had over the last couple of days, the course played fast and the greens by the middle to the end of the round were getting faster. This course was in excellent shape. Shall we start with the two quarterfinal matches of our match play. Armando Santos taking on Jim Walenczak. Jim reaching down and giving up four shots to Armando without knowing, Armando is a very experienced match play player. One of my cub reports was following this match throughout the day and reported that this was back and forth each and every hole. A player would be up one then they would be even and the other player would go up one. Armando however was up one where it counted, at the end. Santos advances to the semi-finals with a 1 up against Walenczak, the clubs 6 th rated player. Included in the group, was another quarterfinal match of Norm Goldner giving up 6 shots to the clubs handicap chairman Wynn Miller. What I heard and saw was this match was over at the turn. Goldner just not in his game and was out of it on the 13 th hole losing out to the clubs very experienced match player 7 and 5. The semi-final matches are set and coming out of the Pappy Van Winkle brackets will be Frank Salucci vs. Wynn Miller. Miller will be spotting Salucci as much as 5 or more shots. Coming out of the Macallin bracket will be newcomer Sam Matthews teeing it up against Armando Santos. Folks, this could be the marquis group with Matthews having to give Santos 5 or more shots. Winners of these matches will meet for the fifth winner of the RIGC Presidents Medallion. These semi-final matches are scheduled for Greystone Golf Club in Washington Township. This club has hosted more than a couple of our finals and should be in excellent shape to host these semi-finals. To the rest of the players out there---bob Hagedorn brought a few friends to play and it appears that they enjoyed themselves. They were even in our wagering pool. There are a couple of new members joining in just in time to be qualified for those Club Championship honors. We are going to welcome Jack Farrow (19.6) sponsored by John Landis Ed Dwyer (18) sponsored by Wayne Curto Bob Hagedorn brought to us Dick Landry (12), Dave Case (17) and Larry Schloff (15). Each of these guests will receive the Tee Box and I encourage you three to join within in the next week. This way you will have your four rounds in to qualify yourself to participate in the Club Championships. A couple of special notes on the Dunham Hills play. I had Richard Schiff and Myron Lederman in my group along with new member Joe Dwyer. Both Myron and Richard pared the #1 handicap hole #5. These two 25+ handicappers putted in 25 footers for par which by the way eliminated themselves from skins. Either one of them would have had net eagle. Thanks fella s.

I did not hear of any other fabulous shots out there. While you are playing, if someone in your group has a terrific hole or hits a career shot as they say, reported it to me. I do like to put those favorable moments into the TEE BOX. We all like a little pat on the back as they say. I am sure that there are one or two of those a round. On another note---we at RIGC are still a VIRGIN when it comes to an ACE..Who will be the first to strike that hole in one? At this time, we have had over 5000 shots at it. Anyone want to pop up and put there name in a hat to be the first?
