OFWW FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER KCC Issue No. 358 February 1, 2019 Our OFWW web site is http://pages.suddenlink.net/ofww/ Be sure to check the website for the new rules of golf implemented by the USGA. Lots of good stuff in there about what to do if you can t find your ball, dropping your ball, the time to look for a ball, etc., etc. Just a reminder in December, the OFWW Board decided to implement some changes to our play day rules and handicap groupings. First our old winter rules allowed you to lift, clean and place your ball within one scorecard length (12 inches) through the green, except for hazards and greens. Going forward, and in order to be consistent with the USGA rules, you will be allowed to lift, clean and place your ball within one club length (without change of environment, i.e. rough to fairway, fringe to green) no closer to the hole, from tee to green, excluding hazards. Second - we analyzed the play day data for the last 2 years and saw the need to adjust the handicap groupings to better balance the number of players in the Low, Middle and High groups. The old handicap groupings are as follows: Low: 16 or less Middle: 17 to 23 High: 24+ Effective December 1, 2018 (the start of the new year for play day statistics) the handicap groupings are: Low: 14 or less Medium: 15 to 20 High: 21+
