OFWW FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER KCC Issue No. 358 February 1, 2019 Our OFWW web site is http://pages.suddenlink.net/ofww/ Be sure to check the website for the new rules of golf implemented by the USGA. Lots of good stuff in there about what to do if you can t find your ball, dropping your ball, the time to look for a ball, etc., etc. Just a reminder in December, the OFWW Board decided to implement some changes to our play day rules and handicap groupings. First our old winter rules allowed you to lift, clean and place your ball within one scorecard length (12 inches) through the green, except for hazards and greens. Going forward, and in order to be consistent with the USGA rules, you will be allowed to lift, clean and place your ball within one club length (without change of environment, i.e. rough to fairway, fringe to green) no closer to the hole, from tee to green, excluding hazards. Second - we analyzed the play day data for the last 2 years and saw the need to adjust the handicap groupings to better balance the number of players in the Low, Middle and High groups. The old handicap groupings are as follows: Low: 16 or less Middle: 17 to 23 High: 24+ Effective December 1, 2018 (the start of the new year for play day statistics) the handicap groupings are: Low: 14 or less Medium: 15 to 20 High: 21+

LP will not count as an OFWW Playday. Tee Time Sign-ups. The sign-up sheet will be available in the Pro Shop beginning mid-day Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday and on Tuesday, beginning at 7:30 am. The first tee time is 8:00 am. Sign-up by noon Monday, February 11 (Sign-up on-line at: pages.suddenlink.net/ofww) DIVOT DAY FEBRUARY 13 Our first 2019 Divot Day is Wednesday, February 13 th, on the Lake. The Coordinator for this Divot Day is Kent Dixon. Assemble at the main clubhouse at 7:00 A.M. for coffee, a kick-off breakfast, then pick up your carts and proceed to the Lake Course at 7:30. After our work is complete (usually less than two hours) we will return the

carts to the main clubhouse. Remember to bring a small pail (raid your grandkid s stash to get this) and a trowel/small scoop. We will have teams, with a team captain assigned to each. One team will start on #1, another on #9, another on #10 and another on #18, and everyone works toward the middle of the 9 they re on. If you are willing to serve as project coordinator or hole team captain, please go to our website, then to Event Sign-up. Please feel free to invite friends or family members who are not OFWW members to join us. Everyone participating earns 1 point toward the 3 one needs to play in the year-end Volunteer Tournament. Thanks for your consideration and thanks to those of you who volunteer to help in this effort. HAVE YOU SHOT YOUR AGE? If anyone shoots his age or better, no matter where, please let me know.
