The Pro Shop will remain open daily until at least 5:00 or when the last MCC cart is off the course. Thanks to Mother Nature providing warm conditions many members began their season in February this year. Mark March 15 th on your calendar, stop by for a visit and drop off your golf clubs for Storage / Cleaning. This privilege is part of your membership dues, so there are no additional charges to use this amenity. For all members storage and cleaning is provided if you are leaving your clubs over night. When you are at the Pro Shop, line up your cart pass for the 2017 Calendar year. Those who played and rode during the great February weather will not be charged for the use of carts if they are getting a cart pass in 2017. The Driving Range will open when the Maintenance Department begins mowing the Tees, and putting markers out. Throughout the season we will keep the status of golf carts and the Driving Range on the MCC website mccgolf.org, or you can call the Pro Shop 837.2132. In 2016 we had several members start coming out right before dark to hit range balls. On nights we are not picking the range to mow the next morning we will continue to leave some balls for those members to enjoy. In the Spring, we usually mow 2 times a week, requiring the range to be closed in time for a clean picking the prior night. These nights vary according to weather conditions or priorities of the maintenance crew that week.
Callaway Demo/Fitting Day Friday, May 5th 2:00-6:00 Callaway Fitters will be bringing the Trackman computer system (number one analyzer on the PGA Tour), and the entire EPIC line of woods. The EPIC woods have been the number #1 Drivers and Fairway woods for the past 3 months nationwide in sales. They received top ratings from Golf Digest HOT LIST analysis in January. Gary participated in a testing and fitting in December and realized a 7-8 mph increase in ball speed off the EPIC Driver over his prior driver. Also available for Fitting and Demo hitting will be the entire APEX and XR Steelhead irons and hybrids. Contact the Pro Shop to set 20 minute appointments for priority; walk-ins also allowed The week of May 14th - 20th the Pro Shop will be setting up demo and fitting sessions for the entire Callaway Mack Daddy wedge line and the new Odessy O-Works putter line with the new Microhinge Face insert. This week will include the May Stag and Stagette for extra activities those days. Stay in touch with Pro Shop on the schedule that week. New Golf Handicap System for 2017 MCC has switched providers for our golf Handicap system. We are shifting to the Chicago District Golf Association (CDGA) to provide this service. This move is primarily related to the Club s desire to have the course re-rated and increased restrictions on how this can be done by the USGA. The Greens Committee used this time to adjust the tee arrangements on the golf course in line with programs promoted by the PGA and USGA. This move will provide more options for players to choose a length of the course that fits their game to increase enjoyment. A new tee is being constructed on hole #3 where the Gold Tees were in the fairway previously. This tee will be used to create a Par 4 for the White and Gold Tees. You will see the following tee markers on the golf course early this Spring: Color Length (yards) Par Rated for Black 6335 71 Men Orange 6112 71 Men/Women White 5551 71 Men/Women Silver 5521 72 Women Gold 5278 71 Men/Women Each player will be able to enter their scores under the set of tees they played that day. In the transition to CDGA, they deactivated the handicaps of any member that has not posted a score in over two years. We can reactivate any account once you can post another score. If you wish to be taken off the system, you must notify the Pro Shop prior to April 15th. If you wish to start a handicap now is the time. Contact the Pro Shop and get on the system and posting scores so we can develop a handicap for you asap.
