APPENDIX B SAFETY CREWING CLASS: 1E This vessel shall comply with the following safety crewing requirements in accordance with the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Part E. This summary should not be taken as exhaustive and the certificate holder should consider their obligations under the NSCV Part E in its entirety. The vessel may only operate with the core complement listed below if it has no passengers on board and is on a voyage: (a) that is within smooth waters; and (b) that is of less than 12 hours; and (c) during which it does not carry out its normal business activities or functions. CORE COMPLEMENT Master Engineer Master <24m NC Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 NC NOTE: If the Master holds the required engineering certificate and the propulsion power of the vessel is not greater than 750kW, then the engineer may be substituted with an uncertified (or certified) hand. APPROPRIATE CREW The owner of a vessel must determine the appropriate crew for each type of operation of the vessel by evaluating the risks to the vessel, the environment and all persons who will be on or near the vessel. The appropriate crew for each type of operation must be recorded in the documentation of the vessel together with reasons for the crewing level determined that address the factors mentioned in the National Standard for Commercial Vessels Part E Schedule 2 Clause 6 Subclause (6).
