Orangel Arenas held the Naturals to 2 runs in 5 innings for earn the win while Cam Bedrosian struck out the side in the 9th for his 4th save. The Travs were rained out for the 5th time on Wednesday, so with that game rescheduled to June 8, tonight s game is the rubber match of a 3- game game series. Wednesday s game was the 9th Texas League game to be postponed Uncharacteristic Losses During the 3-game losing streak that stopped on Tuesay, the Travs had allowed opponents to score 20 runs, the highest 3-game output allowed all season. The club s ERA during this short losing streak was 6.00 with a.304 average against (35 base hits). The Travs saw 2 leads disappear during this time with a 4-run lead wiped out last night and a 3- run lead in the 6th inning lost on Sunday. May Moving Day The Angels announced 6 transactions over the past 2 days involving the Travs. On Wednesday catcher Anderson De La Rosa was transferred to Salt Lake City while infielder Alex Allbritton was sent back to Inland Empire. Infielder Chance Ross and relief pitcher Daniel Reynolds have joined the Travs today from Inland Empire. The Angels also signed free agent catcher Zach Zaneski and assigned him to the Travs. This afternoon pitcher Brandon Sisk was added to the Travs 7-day disabled list with a left shoulder impingement. Sisk will be eligible to return to active duty on May 20. Buddy Ball The Los Angeles Angels sent left handed reliever Buddy Boshers to the Travs on Tuesday from Salt Lake City. Boshers was designated for assignment and cleared waivers last week. Runs Happen In the last 4 games, the Travs bullpen allowed 15 runs in 17.1 innings. In the previous 34.1 innings Travs relievers had allowed just 2 earned runs to go along with 35 strikeouts. For the season the Arkansas bullpen holds a collective 2.54 ERA and a.214 average allowed to go along with a 10.4 K/9 ip. Chaffee Cha-Cha Relief pitcher Ryan Chaffee got his first promotion to Triple-A last Saturday when the Los Angeles Angels sent the right hander to the Salt Lake Bees after 94 appearances with the Travs from 2012-2014. Chaffee leaves the Travs with a 10-3 record and 2.88 ERA plus 11.1 K s per 9 innings. Burnett Rehabbing In Arkansas Angels relief pitcher Sean Burnett arrived in Little Rock to begin a Major League rehab assignment on Saturday. Until pitching in Saturday s game, the lefty had not appeared in a competitive game for the Angels since May 26, 2013 in Kansas City. Burnett, who underwent forearm flexor tendon surgery during the offseason, is just the 3rd Major League rehab to join the Travs during the 14-year affiliation joining Robert Coello (2013) and Dane De La Rosa (2014). Rolling & Rolling The early portion of the 2014 season has been marked by many swings for the Travs, who have lost 4-of-6 ballgames following a stretch of wins in 9-of-10 games. That stretch comes after they had lost 13-of-15 games after a 6-2 start to the season. Random Rants Pitcher Mark Sappington has received 39 runs of offensive support in just 3 games, while the Travs have totaled just 109 runs in the other 35 games Travs reliever R.J. Alvarez is holding opposing hitters to a.116 average (7-for-60) with 28 strikeouts (.467 K rate) Cam Bedrosian has held batters to a.105 average (4-for-38) with 22 strikeouts (.579 K rate) Alex Yarbrough s 14-game hitting streak ended during the 1st game on Friday night vs. Tulsa. It was the longest hitting streak for a Traveler in 2014. (361 average during the streak 22-for-61, 5 RBI) Roadwork The Travelers have found hitting and scoring on the road much easier than at Dickey-Stephens Park. In 16 road games they re averaging 5.7 runs (91 total) and hold a.293 team batting average,.354 OBP and 14 home runs. In 20 home games they re averaging just 2.3 runs a game (47 total) with a.198 batting average, 1 home run and.279 OBP. Injuries-A-Plenty Outfielder Kyle Hudson was placed on the 7-day disabled list on Wednesday with a bruised left heel. Hudson will remain with the team while rehabbing his injury while the Angels will send Michael Snyder (stress fracture) and Eric Stamets (finger laceration) to report to the Angels rehab facility in Arizona. Golden Gloves The 18 errors committed by the Travs is the fewest in Minor League Baseball and they also hold the highest fielding percentage at.986, which is.010 higher than any other Texas League team. The Travs also had a streak of 91 innings without an error during April. Borenstein s Cycle Zach Borenstein became the first Traveler player in nearly 7 years (Aaron Peel 2007) to complete the cycle when he doubled in the 8th inning on April 20th leading an 11-3 win at Hammons Field in Springfield. A 1st inning line drive single was followed by a hot smash that took a bad hop down the 1st-base line for a triple in the 3rd inning. In the 7th inning Borenstein delivered a go-ahead 2-run homer and capped a 4-run rally with a double in the 8th. He even got a 6th plate appearance and walked in the 9th.
