CHAIRMAN S REPORT 2017 Well another season as come and gone!! I want to thank everyone for their support and participation over the 2017 season. A special thanks to all of the committee, coaches and managers who have given up their precious time to support the players and the club. The club entered 16 junior teams (plus started our Little Dragons program) and 7 senior teams for the 2017 season:- Senior Men Division 1 Senior Men Division 4 Over 40 Division 1 Over 30 Division 2 Senior Women Division 1 Senior Women Division 2 Senior Women Division 3 Under 15/16 Under 14 Under 13 Under 12 Under 11 Dragons Under 11 United Under 10 Dragons Under 10 United Under 9 Dragons Under 9 United Under 8 Dragons Under 8 United Under 7 Dragons Under 6 Dragons Under 6 Red Under 6 United Little Dragons this year we introduced our Little Dragons program for our Under 5ers. Thankyou to Shannon and his team of willing assistants for facilitating this program. It was a great success with 30 registered participants

running around and having a great time on a Friday evening. They were also lucky enough to get a fun meal and drink from our canteen each night too! Congratulations to the following teams who made the finals in 2017:- Under 9 United (semi finalists) Under 9 Dragons (preliminary finalist) Under 11 Dragons (preliminary finalist) Under 11 United (semi finalist) Under 12 (semi finalist) Under 13 (preliminary finalist) Under 14 (Champions and Premiers runners-up) Under 15/16 (Champion runners-up and Premiers runners-up) Senior Women Div 3 (semi finalist) Over 40s Div 1 (semi finalist) A number of our playing members were also selected in the Queensland State side in 2017. Big congratulations to the following:- Jessica Osborne (Senior Women) Tyler Henderson (Under 23) Bryce Ridley (Under 23) Isaak Gregory (Under 15/16 boys) Amber Pocock (Under 15/16 girls) The committee wants to thank all the playing members, spectators, coaches, managers and volunteers that helped with Bunnings BBQ's, mowing, line marking, selling chocolates and attending our annual trivia night. Your continued support of the club is invaluable. We are looking forward to being able to continue to improved facilities and equipment. We remain determined to build a clubhouse and money has been set aside in a building fund so we can work towards achieving this sooner rather than later. Next year we will be putting together a clubhouse sub committee to get the process rolling with planning etc. If you are interested in being involved on this sub committee please let me know. This year we were able to raise a total of $6,863.15 from the following fundraisers:-

Bunnings sausage sizzle - $1,287.65 Chocolate Drive - $4,206.80 Trivia Night - $1,368.70 The year would not have been the success it was without the tireless work of our committee who have volunteered hours of their time to make the season run as smoothly as possible. Big thanks to the following: Richard Katt (vice chairman) Linda Alexander (secretary) Nyleta Bruce (treasurer) Shirley Thomson (registrar) Rohan Alexander (Canteen convener) Terry Thomson (field maintenance) Lance Stuart Shannon Woodward Cameron Osborne Nathan Donnelly Stuart Bannister Thank you to all of the volunteers who committed their precious time to help out this season. Thanks to Rohan and Linda Alexander who organised the BBQ fundraisers during the season and ran the canteen. We were able to raise a fantastic $7,171.75 through our canteen sales this season. We really appreciated the time and commitment that goes in every weekend with Rohan and Linda usually at the ground before anyone arrives and leaving when the lights are turned off after the final game. We must thank Rohan s parents who also put in a lot of hours on the BBQ and in the canteen during the season. Thanks to Terry Thomson who has continued to maintain the field and do the line marking. Thankyou to all of those other people who have assisted with the mowing and whipper snipping during the season and many odd jobs around the place. We have to thank Kevin James for welding wheels onto our training goals so they can better utilised and we can avoid wearing out the goal mouths when training. Also, a big thank you to Nyleta Bruce, treasurer for 2017, for her efforts in ensuring all players were financial and all accounts were paid in a timely manner. A special

mention must go to Nyleta for organising the Trivia Night and Chocolate Drive. The Senior Presentation Night would also not have been a success without her work preparing and organising the function, including food. Thank you to Richard Katt, whom among other things, continues to manage the website. Thanks also to Shannon who did a fantastic job as equipment co-ordinator and maintained our first aid kits throughout the season (with the help of his wife, Susan). Special thanks to Shawn Kracht who donated his time and the use of his boom to install our new lights at the start of the year. This saved the club a lot of money not having to hire a boom, so thanks!!! The junior presentation day was well supported again this year with the evening event attended by most of the junior members and their families. All families enjoyed a free sausage sizzle with all team members receiving a free drink. Thank you to Shannon and Nyleta for again heading up the organising of this event. Thankyou to Shannon and Susan for the use of their inflatable jumping castles again. A big thankyou to Rohan and his team of helpers for cooking the sausages (and other food) and assisting in the canteen. The senior presentation night this year was held at Ipswich Knights function room. This was a bit of a change and meant less organising for people such as Nyleta and Rohan as the catering was done by the function centre. A great night was had by all attending. Congratulations to the following people/teams who were recognised for their efforts this season and received awards:- Josh Buetel - Eric Jones Award - awarded to a junior player who has provided outstanding service to the club as a volunteer (not just in a playing capacity). Kevin James - Myra Jones Award - awarded to a player or non-player who has provided outstanding service to the club as a volunteer over an extended period of years. I am looking forward to another successful and fun season in 2018. I encourage all members/parents to continue to become more involved in the club in 2018 so that as a community we can support each other in building a community where children and adults can enjoy playing football in a caring, supportive and encouraging environment. Thank you to all of the parents who continue to invest time into their children by enabling them to participate in this wonderful game. Your encouragement during the season of all of the children in the team (including the opposition players) is a credit to you all. It is this type of encouraging and supportive culture that I would like our club to be known for. Finally, I want to again thank the club management committee who have spent countless hours and much effort making the season run as smoothly as possible. Your support of the club and me during the season has been exceptional. Thankyou! Jeremy Bruce Club Chairman 2017
