REVISED 2019 COLORADO GOLDEN GLOVES STATE TOURNAMENT FACT SHEET ATHLETES: ALL participating Athletes MUST CHECK-IN at the INITIAL WEIGH-INS on Sunday, April 14, 2019 and bring their completed PASSBOOK (which must include 2019 Membership Card; copy of current physical exam; current photo; and, braces form (if applicable) in order to be included into the draw. NO PASSBOOK, NO WEIGH-IN, NO ENTRY IN DRAW, NO BOX. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! If you are a new Athlete, you MUST be registered online with USAB seven (7) days prior to the initial weigh-ins (no later than Sunday, April 7, 2019). Renewal Athletes may register with USAB up to the day of the Tournament check-in. IN ALL OF THE DIVISIONS BELOW, BOTH CITIZENS AND NON- CITIZENS ARE WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE: Age determination date for all divisions is: How old you are on April 14, 2019. Open Division: Male/Female athletes, 18-40 years old. THERE IS NO BOUT MINIMUM - unopposed bouts will not be counted. Male/Female Boxers will box 3, 3-minute rounds. (Per email dated 04/08/19).

There is no bout minimum - unopposed bouts will not be counted. Male/Female Boxers will box 3, 3- minute rounds. Junior/Youth Divisions: Male/Female athletes, 8-17 years old. There is no bout minimum and there is no Novice Division. Age Divisions will be: 8/9; 10/11; 12/13; 14/15; 16/17. Minutes per round: 3, 1-minute rounds for Ages 8/9; 10/11; 12/13. 3, 1-1/2 minute rounds for Ages 14/15. 3, 2-minute rounds for Ages 16/17. Master Division: Male/Female athletes, age 40+ and have a yellow passbook. There is no bout minimum. Male/Female Boxers in the Master Division will box 3, 1 minute rounds. NON-ATHLETES: MUST be BOTH USAB, REGISTERED & CERTIFIED with current Membership Card showing proof of both in order to work their boxer s corner AND/OR to work as an Official at ringside. Passbooks WILL BE checked for verification in order to obtain a Tournament pass. Non-Athletes may receive their Tournament passes at the initial weigh-ins OR they may receive them during the Tournament. For Coaches: See Robert Baca. For Officials: See CC Edwards. INITIAL WEIGH-INS: (MANDATORY for ALL boxers entering this Tournament) ALL athletes MUST weigh-in on SUNDAY, April 14, 2019 in order to be included in the draw for the Tournament. Weigh-ins will be conducted from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 15500 E 40 th Avenue in Denver, CO. Parking will be free for Sunday only. Athletes will receive their Tournament wristbands and Tournament t-shirts at the initial weigh-ins. Athletes MUST be clean shaven BEFORE stepping on scale (no mustaches, beards, goatees, etc., and side burns cannot be below the ear). The exception to this is the Master Boxers. They are allowed to have up to 2 of facial hair. Athletes WILL BE allowed to change their weight division up or down until 1:00 pm. However, after 1:00 pm ALL WEIGHTS ARE FINAL ----NO EXCEPTIONS!!! There will be a trial scale set up at the initial weigh-ins from 9:30 am until 1:00 pm.
(Page 3 of 6 2019 Colorado Golden Gloves State Tournament Information Sheet) DRAW: The draw will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Sunday evening April 14, 2019 (Time TBD) The brackets (on Sunday evening, April 14 th ) and the bout sheets for Monday (by 8:00 am on April 15 th ) will be posted on the East side Convention Center entrance of the Crowne Plaza Hotel on the glass doors. The daily bout sheets will also be posted at the same location by 8:00 am each day. In addition, both brackets AND bout sheets will be posted on: 1) Facebook@coloradogoldenglovesboxing; and, 2) the coloradogoldengloves.org website. If there are any questions on the brackets or bout sheets, please contact Jeanne DePriest at 970-978-5188, DAILY WEIGH-INS: (Location at Crowne Plaza Convention Center same location as the initial weigh-ins) Athletes will ONLY weigh-in on the day that they are scheduled to box. (NOTE: There will be NO weigh-ins on Monday, April 15 th. Those athletes that are boxing on Monday already weighed-in on Sunday). Daily weigh-ins will be from 8:00 am to 9:00 am. A trial scale will be available starting at 7:00 am. At 9:00 am the scales will be closed and all Athletes who have not arrived to weigh-in WILL BE disqualified. (Please Note: If special arrangements need to be made for the daily weigh-ins due to work schedule OR school, you must text or call Jeanne DePriest at 970-978-5188 OR E. Paul Kelly, Jr. at 720-422-3025). If we do not receive a text or a call, we WILL NOT accommodate late boxers. COMPETITION/additional information: Dates: April 15, 2019 through April 20, 2019 Site: Crowne Plaza Hotel, 15500 E 40 th Avenue in Denver, CO (North side entrance) Bout Times: Monday through Friday-6:30 pm. and Saturday-7:30 pm. (Page 4 of 6 2019 Colorado Golden Gloves State Tournament Information Sheet) Equipment: Gloves WILL BE provided and ALL boxers will be gloved and their hand wraps checked at the glove table. Tape and gauze WILL BE provided to each Athlete at daily weigh-ins (2 rolls gauze and 2 rolls tape). Headgear will ONLY be provided for the Master Boxers Division. ALL Boxers in this Tournament WILL wear headgear. The headgear MUST BE USAB/AIBA approved with NO cheek protectors. Mouthpieces CANNOT have any variation of red. It is NOT mandatory that you wear red/blue headgear OR red/blue uniforms, but it is strongly encouraged. PLEASE NOTE...regarding the uniforms...no nicknames, no fringe, no sequins, and the length of the trunks MUST NOT go beyond the knees. There MUST BE a contrasting waistband between the jerseys and the trunks. These rules WILL BE enforced. Coaches: There will be a designated warm-up area specifically for Coaches/Boxers to warm-up prior to their bouts. Coaches meeting will be held daily at 6:00 pm at the warm-up area. Opening Ceremony: Monday, April 15, 2019 at 6:00 pm, all Coaches and Teams will parade with banners to kick-off event. This is not mandatory, but it is strongly encouraged. (Page 6 of 6 2019 Colorado Golden Gloves State Tournament Information Sheet) SCHOLARSHIPS/GRANTS For 2019, there will be: Two, $1,000.00 scholarships awarded to Boxers (please submit your applications to either Duran Hill OR Manuel Alvarado up to Friday, April 19 th ); and, Ten, $250.00 grants will be raffled off to registered clubs. (Note: Each registered team will receive one raffle ticket on Sunday at check-in from Robert Baca. The drawing will be held on finals night, Saturday, April 20, 2019. You do not have to be present to win!) REGIONAL AND NATIONAL TOURNAMENT INFORMATION: Male and Female, Colorado Open Class Champions will compete in the Regional Golden Gloves Tournament in Denver, CO on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Male and Female Champions of the Regional Tournament will advance to the National Golden Gloves Tournament in Chattanooga, TN May 6-11, 2019. We expect to have a great 2019 State Golden Gloves Tournament and certainly appreciate your support!
