TRAM by Rifton The Rifton TRAM is a transfer and mobility device designed to deliver three powerful functions in one compact unit: gait training, sit-to-stand transfers and seated transfers. In this way the TRAM offers far more utility than a standard client lift at a remarkably low price. At just over 32 kg, the TRAM s compact, ultralight frame is manoeuvrable in small or confined areas, as well as simple to transport or store. Quickly adoptable, the TRAM s intelligent engineering significantly reduces back strain and stress providing a smarter and safer environment for carers. Built-in up/down switch Raise and lower the TRAM using the single button built into the right steering handle. Body support system The TRAM features an innovative support system that secures the client with a simple buckle. This simplicity enables the carer to quickly prepare the client for a safe transfer. Three stage riser The carefully engineered, telescopic lift column gives the TRAM its low profile, providing clients with the security and dignity of unobstructed eye contact with their carers and surroundings. The TRAM can be raised high enough to support a 193 walking client and then retract down to 110 for compact storage. Colourcoded clips Carers can quickly hook the metal rings onto one of the TRAM s four clips. The clips have been colour-coded for positive identification in written protocols for each individual client. The low-base TRAM With a 8 castor and a lower frame base, it does everything the standard Rifton TRAM does, while also sliding under beds with just a 10 clearance. Leg expander Compact and low-profile, the TRAM can pass through a 76 doorway, transfer clients in and out of wider wheelchairs by using the leg expander and the lockable front castors make the TRAM mobile, yet secure.
Always Innovative Capable of lifting and transferring clients of varying abilities and body types, the TRAM features an innovative, patented support system that secures the client with a simple buckle. This enables the carer to quickly prepare the client for a safe transfer. Ideal for transferring, toileting and supported walking Gait Tracker The TRAM scale can connect with a phone or tablet via Bluetooth to display scale data on Rifton s Gait Tracker app. Gait Tracker shows a running average of the weight measured by the scale and calculates average weight-bearing during a gait training session. Phone Mount A phone can also be mounted on the client handgrip with a bicycle phone mount, making the scale visible to the client.
Always Thoughtful Outstanding features and benefits The Benefits An ultralight compact frame that s easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces. Intuitive controls and adjustments, making it simple for a single carer to operate. A body support system that eliminates any lifting by the carer, reducing back strain and workplace injuries. 160 kg weight capacity and a powerful battery drive that can deliver over 70 lifts on a single charge. An optional built-in scale, allowing you to weigh your client while performing a routine transfer. Three Powerful Functions in one device 1 Gait training With the switch pole in place, the front handle can be removed to increase a client s independence and access to his or her environment. Equipped with a comfortable walking saddle, the TRAM provides safe, supported ambulation without using additional floor space or staff. The saddle eliminates a client s fear of falling, allowing for increased focus on essential tasks, while maintaining or regaining the ability to walk. Whether for daily exercise or more demanding rehab, the TRAM s combined sit-to-stand and supported walking functions make it an essential. 2 Sit-to-stand transfers The ability to transition between sitting and standing is critical for a client s independence and health. The TRAM s walking saddle makes it easy for a carer to assist a client with movement regardless of the carer s or client s size. With the TRAM, the transition from sitting to standing, and back down again, is both safe and simple. 3 Seated transfers The TRAM s low profile combined with the comfortable body support and thigh straps, give clients security, dignity and unobstructed eye contact with their carers and surroundings during a seated transfer.
Always Configurable Accessories There is a range of accessories available, each designed for optimal performance during transfers or in early mobilisation of your clients. Thigh Straps Used primarily for seated transfers. Choose either narrow (13 ) or wide (18 ), depending on the needs of your client. Machine washable to meet your hygiene requirements, additional straps can be purchased for individual clients and laundering. The straps can be quickly attached to the TRAM s colour-coded clips. Forearm Supports Provides extra lifting support for clients who have low tone or need their arms secured. The supports allow adjustments in every direction and angle to accommodate numerous positioning requirements. Adjustment range (elbow to fist): small 20 32 large 27 41 Padded surface area small 11 x 18 large 13 x 22 Arm Platforms The arm platforms offer a simple alternative for clients who need less arm positioning. Platforms attach to the adjustable arm prompt base and are made of an integral skin foam for padded comfort and easy cleaning. Padded surface dimensions: 34 x 14 Directional Locks Locks engage with castors making it possible to roll the TRAM straight down the hall without drifting laterally. The locks can be inserted into any or all of the four castors, although two should be sufficient to ensure a straight path. With the locks released the castors are free to swivel, enabling manoeuvers into tight spaces. Hip Positioner The hip positioner is designed to encourage good positioning for gait training. It enables natural pelvic movement and lower extremity weight-shifting, and provides good abduction. A pad is available for added comfort. Switch Pole The switch pole lets a carer operate the electric lift without bending down (when not using the front handle). It can also be turned around to give the client control of the lift.
Walking Saddle Available in three sizes, the walking saddle is used for sit-to-stand transfers and supported ambulation. Quickly hook up the walking saddle by attaching the rings to the colour-coded clips. Note that the walking saddle fits the client best when the straps are crossed. Additional Battery An additional battery may be needed in settings where frequent transfers are being made each day. A fully charged battery should deliver approximately 70 complete lift cycles depending on client weight. Removable Back Belt For settings where infection control is critical we offer an alternative back belt with a clip at both ends for easy removal and sanitation. Users should note however, that the removable belt adds approximately 10 to the body support circumference at its smallest (from 56 to 66 ). Maximum circumference remains at 152. Optional Scale Allows the carer to weigh a client easily during a routine transfer, eliminating that special transfer just for the purpose of weighing. In addition, during supported ambulation the scale can measure how much weight the client is bearing, allowing the carer to measure and track weight-bearing capability and progress. Note: The scale option must be chosen at the time of the original purchase. It cannot be added later. Visit: jiraffe.org.uk or scan the QR code for more information
