GENERAL SHOOT INFORMATION The Virginia State Shoot will be held at the VTA Homegrounds, Winchester Gun Club, Stephenson, VA. The Virginia Trapshooting Association, Inc. (VTA) will have full responsibility for conducting this shoot. The VTA and the Winchester Gun Club are not responsible for accidents or injuries on the Winchester Gun Club grounds. All current ATA and VTA rules and regulations will be enforced. The VTA reserves the right to refuse or reject any entry. The VTA also reserves the right to change the program for any reason. No entry fee options will be refunded unless event is cancelled. Daily fees are $5 - $3 to VTA and $2 to ATA. On the first day of the shoot, you can only sign up in the morning for that day; sign up for the remaining shoot program can be done that afternoon. All state shoot targets will be shot 50/50 on 6 banks, 2 traps per bank. All handicap and 16-yard targets will be shot 5 per station except doubles which will be shot on 8 banks, one trap per bank. However, two boxes of shells are to be taken to the line. After the first 25 targets are shot, the second 25 will immediately follow in rotation. This will complete the first 50 targets without anyone leaving the firing line. Any shooter leaving the line for shells will have to make up the second 25 targets on the practice trap. If a shooter misses his/her squad and the squad has started shooting, the entire 50 targets will have to be made up on the practice trap. Banks 1 thru 6 will each have two traps. The six banks will be randomly assigned a bank number about a half-hour prior to the start of each event; example: A numbered pill (numbered 1 to 6) will be drawn. If the pill drawn is number 5, then squad one will start on bank 5, squad 2 will start on bank 6, and squad 3 will start on bank 1, etc. It was decided that shooters are mature enough to follow an established procedure and should not need enforcement. However, the squad leader (post one) has the responsibility to keep the squad moving through the 50 targets in an unbroken sequence and in a timely fashion. Shootoffs will be carried over to the next day when permitted. Squads may be reassigned different fields because of broken traps or other delays at the discretion of management. Perfect 50 s If no winner, carried to next day; if no winner last day, high score wins. We will have special events and rolling jackpots. All purses are % purses. The two practice traps will be the last two traps at the end of the firing line. There is sufficient parking at that location with an access road. The first two traps (old practice traps) will be the first bank of program traps. Cost is $2 for 10 targets and $4 for 25 targets. 12

CLASSIFICATION AND HANDICAPPING The Classification Committee will classify and handicap all shooters. It is the shooter s responsibility to have his/her average card up to date. Those who do not have their card up to date will be assigned class/yardage at the discretion of the Committee. Averages for 2008-2009 will be used plus known ability. Any shooter may shoot targets only to avoid being penalized in any event. All shooters must present their average card and ATA plastic membership card to the Classification Committee to be classified. No card No classification. 16 Yards 5 Classes Doubles 5 Classes 97% and above AA 93% and above AA 94% and under 97% A 89% and under 93% A 91% and under 94% B 85% and under 89% B 88% and under 91% C 78% and under 85% C Under 88% D Under 78% D Note: If you win or tie your class in any 16-yard or doubles event, it is your responsibility to report to the cashier and move up one class. Virginia Trapshooting Hall of Fame 2010 Inductee BETTY D. FARLEY Betty has been registering targets for about 18 years and has garnered many trophies during this period and can be your most fierce competitor. It has been said that great things come in small packages. In the small package of Betty Farley is the spark that helps keep trapshooting alive in Virginia. She is the organizational and operational force for registered and league trap shoots at the clubs in Northern Virginia, including the Virginia State Shoot. Betty is the reason many shooters keep coming back and participating. Shooters know they will be welcomed and treated with fairness and courtesy. You may be a 27-yard AAA shooter, or today may be your first day. It makes no difference if there is not a shoot taking place. Novice, or recognized champion, Betty will welcome you in a way that you will want to come back and help keep the sport alive. Betty will say she really doesn t do that much, that she is just helping her husband, well-known Virginia trapshooter Lacy. And, to a certain extent that is true. Working the shoots are the Farleys. You don t see one without the other and they complement each other. What is Johnson & Johnson without one of the Johnsons? They are invaluable to each other and the sport of trapshooting in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Congratulations, Betty, from all of your fellow shooters. 15
