14 th Nov. 2012 The report for 2012 MOBILE SUB CENTER (Training Camp) at BANGKOK THAILAND And Thailand National Championships (Track round 5) Continental Cycling Center Shuzenji Continetal Cycling Center Shuzenji (CCC Shuzenji) held 2012 Mobile Sub Center at Bangkok Thailand (Training camp and coaching course) with great cooperation by Thai Cycling Association (TCA). We accepted and trained riders and coaches who were recommended by each their National Federation. Also, the participants took part in Thailand National Championships was held at same venue just after the camp. So, we would like to report to you about our training camp and the championships, too. Ⅰ) 2012 MOBILE SUB CENTER (Training Camp and coaching course) at BANGKOK THAILAND 1. Venue and period Hua-mark velodrome Bangkok Thailand 333.3m concrete surfaced outdoor From 31st Oct. to 10th Nov. 2012 2. Purpose 1 Promotion of track cycling at mainly South East and South Asian countries by training camp and coaching course with cooperation of TCA 2 Discovery of promising riders in Asia 3 Introduction of CCC Shuzenji and public relation activities for promotion of utilization 3. Member (Coaching staff of CCC Shuzenji) Generalization MASAO Yajima (Superintendent of CCC Shuzenji) Head coach AKIRA Kato (Head coach of CCC Shuzenji) Coach NAOHIRO Noda (Coach of CCC Shuzenji) Assistant coach and general affairs MINORU Ogino (Assistant coach of CCC Shuzenji)
4. Number of participants as appendix Coach and official 12 persons, Riders 12 persons Total 24 persons From 3 countries (as appendix name list) 5. Contents of activities For every year, we held the mobile training camp just before ACC Track Asia Cup was held at any South or South East country until last year. However, the cup would be held only in Teheran (IR of Iran) in 2012. We could not get information enough in advance to hold a training camp. So, we held it in Bangkok, Thailand, in this year, too. The reason of decision are 1 very good location for access from every neighbor countries of there is at center of South and South East Asia 2 the venue is closed location from International airport 3 there is the NF s administration office in the venue (velodrome), so they will be able to react any irregular accident and problem. 4 the host NF understand very well with our purpose of promotion of cycling at the area to hold training camp. So, we decided the place as the venue of our training camp. Also, TCA accepted and welcome that our participants take part in their national championships would be held just after our training camp. A) Training camp Almost riders are youth or junior riders. 2 female junior riders from Hong Kong China who participated in our first training camp at Shuzenji in May and June. 6 riders (3 male and 3 female) from 6 provinces and 10 coaches from Thailand. This year again, Vietnam team sent from 4 female riders, 1 coach and 1 official. 2 of Vietnam riders participated in our camp last year, but other 2 riders are beginner of track cycling. They don t have track bike, so they borrowed 2 track bikes from TCA during the camp. Also, TCA and Thailand s coaches lent and provided many parts of track cycling for Vietnam team. So, we could hold the camp for successfully. In the training, we programmed potential training in the first half of the term for increasing basic physical abilities and basic skill of cycling. Then, in last of the period, we programmed for increasing their ability for output power of muscle and neural activation by power training. All riders took part in the Thailand s championships, so we programmed training for taper period just before the race. Additionally, we had the meeting for coaches after every training. We lectured and explained to them about the target of training in that day, riding form and improved point of pedaling, also how to program training in the middle/long term based on sports physiology, and biomechanics. We used some items, heart rate monitors, digital camera and so on for the explanation. In the result, we could seem that almost coaches understand our advices and they taught them (including feedback of their data) to own riders immediately. Also, we appointed a coach as chief of the training in every time by rotation in last of the term for increasing about their coaching skills. Especially in this time, participated coaches active initiative before we direct to them. Additionally, they listened attentively our advices in
their meeting and put in practice immediately, almost of them are positive coaches for cycling. From a first half of the term, they did management of laps, check of rider s form and so on. So, we can expect about promotion of cycling level in own provinces by their learned coaching skill. Regarding concreted training program, please check appendix sheet. Also, riders were crashed 2 times during the camp (both of Vietnam riders). 1 of them was ruptured her occipital (back of the head), so TCA took her to the hospital immediately. She was treated some stitches. Other one damaged only abrasion. Regarding take to the hospital, fortunately, TCA could response quickly, because their office is in velodrome and they are accustomed to deal with crash and injury. Regarding verification for training contents, these were very hard one, so riders could not hide their fatigues, but they could record the good results in the championships due to effective recovery programs for taper period just before the race. Of particular note was that one Vietnam rider got a bronze medal at sprint event in the race. After we came back to Japan, we got the recognition comments from Vietnam Cycling Federation about improvement and increasing female rider s cycling skill. And participated coaches expressed their impression, opinion and so on about our training camp as appendix. B) Discovery of promising riders in Asia We think the Asian cycling level boost up certainly now to compare than 10 years ago when CCC Shuzenji was established. We could see and confirm the fact from riding form, pedaling skill and so on of riders at Thailand National Championships. One coach of teams who participated in our training camp made practice along with our programs from stretching before the training. And a lot of his riders got many prizes in the race. Also, we felt the country can promote to expand about based category for athletes to see many young riders. On the other hand, in our participants of this camp, almost riders have huge potentiality to be flourished in the future. In particular, we could seem that Ms. Sakanya Sanamit (THA) has a good sense for control of bike and Ms. Pang Yao (HKG) also has a high potentiality, we hope all riders will be flourished in the future. We hope they will step up certainly and become Asian top athletes in the future. C) PR for utilization of CCC Shuzenji We active PR for utilization of our center including our facilities and training in coaches meeting. Thai s coaches said they want to send riders and coaches to Shuzenji center and how much money they need to pay in that case. We received some questions about us. So, we felt like this occasion for the PR is very important at our overseas activities.
Ⅱ) Thailand National Championships (Track event round 5) I would like to report about the race, because all participants of our training camp took part in the championships. This race was round 5 of the championships. The teams from 6 provinces in Thailand took part in the race at each event. Also, a lot of riders and coaches who participated in our past camp joined the race and they recorded many good results. In whole, we seemed their riding forms, pedaling skill and so on are improving than before and begin to sink in them about our theory. Regarding 2 female HKG riders, Royal Police team in Thailand took care of them including warming up during the race, because HKG riders didn t have any own coach. On the other hand, Vietnam team has a coach, so we gave them only advices of track competition for their independence at the track race. Also, we received a request from TCA for motor pacing at the Keirin race, so we did it to promote for track cycling in Asia. Ⅲ) General overwiew In this time, the participated countries were only three. However, Vietnam team participated in the camp this year again is very significant outcome, because the biggest aim of this camp is approach of promotion and development for competitive cycling in development countries of cycling (especially track event) in this area. They were trained, took part in championships for track event and got a bronze medal in the race. It would be expected that s fact has a significant positive impact on around countries. Moreover, Mr. LT. Gen. Decha Hemkrasri who is vice president of Asian Cycling Confederation and secretary general of TCA said they will approach to join the camp to Cambodia, Laos, East-Timor and so on with their strong-connection and net-work in this area. Because I think that they assent our aim of the camp again, strongly. We don t have enough connection in this area, so it must be more important to build a good net-work with them for achievement to our goal (aim) in the future. (Reported by NAOHIRO Noda)
