2014 Okeechobee County Fair Pageant Rules and Regulations (Pages 3 6) Contestant Requirements Minimum of 14 19 years of age by date of pageant (March 6, 2015). Must be Single & never been married & never had a marriage annulled & never been pregnant Contestant must be: A U.S. Citizen A resident of Okeechobee County Or reside in the following areas: Buckhead Ridge & Brighton Seminole Reservation College attending entrants: IRSC College students must submit proof of legal voter registration in Okeechobee County (If parents do not reside in Okeechobee County), meet age requirement shown above, must be able to attend all of the rehearsals prior to the pageant, and of the required duties if crowned Miss Teen Okeechobee County Fair. Relatives (daughters, grandchildren, nieces) of pageant committee members are not eligible to compete. The board of the Okeechobee County Fair must approve all other relatives of pageant committee members entering this pageant in advance. This will be strictly enforced. Contestants holding another title may participate but if she wins Miss Okeechobee County Fair, she must relinquish all other titles for year. Winner must understand that she will be expected to represent only the Okeechobee County Fair during her reign. The winner agrees that she will not enter any other pageants during the period of her reign, other than the state pageant sponsored by Okeechobee County Fair Association. ENTRY FEE: $100.00* Entry Fee may be obtained through a business sponsor ask director for information regarding this. *Application and Entry Fee due on Monday, February 2, 2015. Contestant agrees to attend the mandatory orientation and rehearsal, where rules and what is expected from contestants will be discussed Contestants are required to arrive on time. Place and time to be announced. Contestant agrees to appear in sports-wear, evening gown and business attire for interview competition. Contestant agrees during the day of the pageant that all body piercing will be removed, and all tattoos covered. If contestant wins the title of Miss Okeechobee County Fair, all body piercing will be removed and tattoos will be covered at all events where she is attending for Okeechobee County. (One set of pieced earrings will be acceptable.) 3
Evening Gown: Full ankle length No cut outs in stomach area Choose a color YOU look good in Sportswear Sportswear of your choice theme to be announced at orientation. Business Attire Two piece suit with jacket and skirt or pants or proper business dress. Pick shoes that match your suit or wear taupe heals. Choose your best color, as this will be the first time the judges will see you. ALL CLOTHING AND SHOES WILL HAVE TO BE APPROVED PRIOR TO FINAL REHEARSAL IN ORDER TO BE WORN THE NIGHT OF THE PAGEANT. Helpful Hints: Don t pick anything too tight. No color of clothing wins more than others. Pick the color that looks best on you. Shoot for classy and professional that s what the judges will be looking for. Wear your hair away from your face so the judges can see all your features clearly. Wear light colored, French manicure or clear nail polish. When you wear dark colors the judges are drawn to your hands instead of your face. Pageant Book Ads: Contestants will be required to sell a minimum of $100.00 of ads for the official pageant book. The Business Achievement award will be given to the contestant who sells the most ads. Information and instructions regarding ad sales will be provided at orientation. The contestant will voluntarily disclose that prior to the date of this pageant, she has not engaged in any activities that are characterized as dishonest, immoral, indecent, including nude photos and sexting, which if disclosed to the public, would bring or tend to bring, herself in disrepute, ridicule or contempt. Contestant must be of good moral character, never been convicted of a crime or have had any criminal charges pending against them. Any contestant with illegal/negative photos or information posted on public websites, including social pages, will be disqualified. Contestants are expected to conduct themselves in a ladylike manner and display the highest degree of sportsmanship at all times during rehearsals and during the pageant. If contestant is seen smoking, drinking, using drugs or any other conduct unbecoming to the contestant, including internet/socialnetworking postings, the Okeechobee County Fair Association board, Inc. has the right to disqualify contestant from the pageant. The Okeechobee County Fair Association board will not tolerate anyone making negative remarks about another contestant, the staff, the judges, the committee or any fair associations member. Any such negatively will be cause for immediate disqualification. Contestant agrees NOT to defame the Okeechobee County Fair Association, pageant directors and/or committee, photographer and other contestants in any way, including oral, written or otherwise stated before, during and after the Pageant. Contestant agrees that if she defames any of the above named in anyway, she will be banned from this pageant and any future Okeechobee County Fair pageants and/or the winner s title will be taken away, along with all gifts associated with winning. Also if any family member defames any of the above, it may lead to the disqualification of the contestant and also be cause for the winner s title will be taken away. Pageant will be held at the Okeechobee High School auditorium. Two entry passes will be provided to each contestant for entry into the auditorium. These complimentary passes are for parents, guardians or family 4
members. All other family members or friends will need to pay a small entry into the pageant. All entry fees will include a one-day entry pass to the Okeechobee County Fair to be used during the 2015 fair week. On the night of the pageant, contestants will be the only ones allowed backstage and in the dressing rooms. Absolutely NO parents, family or friends will be allowed back stage. This will be strictly enforced. You must be totally prepared when you arrive. All phones must be turned off no calls or texting allowed. Failure to comply with these rules will be cause for immediate disqualification. NO EXCEPTIONS. Only the official pageant photographer will be allow to take photos during the pageant. No video camera or still photographing will be allowed NO EXCEPTIONS. All contestants will be able to view and get their photos off an official pageant site set up on Flickr. This will be complimentary to the contestants. Anyone, including other professional photographers, reported to the pageant staff taking still or video photography will be asked to put their cameras away and/or will be removed from the pageant area. This will be strictly enforced. Selling photos of pageant, contestants and winners by anyone without written consent of the Okeechobee County Fair Association is strictly prohibited. Contestants/winner agrees to allow the pageant directors and the Okeechobee County Fair Association to use their likeness, voice recording and/or name on posters, websites, and other promotions for publicity purposes related to the pageant without monetary compensation now or in the future as determined by Okeechobee County Fair Pageant Directors. The pageant committee must approve any and all news releases, including Internet postings in advance. If any person, related or non-related to contestant, places a news release or photo to any news or publishing organization without committee consent, pageant contestant will be disqualified and/or the winner s title taken away, along with all gifts associated with winning. Entrants agree that the manner and method of conducting and judging the contest shall be solely within the discretion of the Pageant Officials and that the decision of the judges shall be final. The newly selected Queen will serve as hostess to the Okeechobee County Fair, which will run Tuesday, March 10, 2015 through Sunday, March 15, 2015 following her crowning. She will also participate in the 2016 pageant, when she relinquishes her title. Participation at the Okeechobee County Fair is mandatory. The winner must be prepared to spend the remaining of the period of the fair week as hostess for the fair. Contestants should plan their schedule around fair week. With the exception of school hours, new winner will be required to participate in daily and nightly activities at the fair. Failure to participate may be cause to relinquish her title. All schedule events during fair week must go thru the pageant director. The winner agrees to participate in other functions and events throughout the year representing the Okeechobee County Fair. The winner agrees to make personal appearances throughout Okeechobee County. The winner must agree to attend at least 10 events during her reign, as well as orientation of the next year s pageant and participate in the next year s pageant, which includes crowing her successor. Failure to follow any of the above requirements will be cause for loss of title and all gifts associated with the title. The new queen will be responsible for making contact and keeping in touch with pageant director(s). The pageant feels strongly that this is part of the queen s responsibility while wearing the crown. Pageant director(s) must be able to contact queen without delays. Grand prize for Miss Okeechobee County Fair is a $1000.00 scholarship. All winners understand that some prizes are awarded by Pageant Sponsors. Okeechobee County Fair Assoc., Inc. will extend reasonable effort to see the at sponsors fulfill their obligations, however, Okeechobee County Fair Assoc., Inc. assume no responsibility for the failure of the sponsors to fulfill their commitment. Under no circumstances should the new queen or any contestant attempt to return any 5
pageant gifts back to the sponsor in exchange for another gift or cash. Anyone caught doing this will lose their title and all other gifts. After crowning, the winner agrees to meet with Pageant Director and will sign a contract outlining her yearlong reign, which will include the obligations of the Queen, Queen s parents or guardians, Pageant Director, pageant committee and the Okeechobee County Fair Assoc. A copy of this contract will be presented at the orientation meeting for review. In case of marriage, or any reason being unable to fulfill the obligation of Queen for the entire year, she agrees to relinquish the title and all privileges to said title including the crown, banner, scepter, trophy, and prizes not yet awarded by the date of her resignation, if so requested by the Pageant Directors and/or the Okeechobee County Fair Association Officers. The next eligible runner up will receive the title and fulfill the duties as Miss Okeechobee County Fair. Failure of the winning contestant to comply with any of the terms, provisions, restrictions or obligations hereof shall, at the option of the Okeechobee County Fair Association, Inc. result in entrant s disqualification, loss of title and return of any an all prizes awards, including expenses paid out for participation in state pageant and or scholarship. The Pageant Directors and Okeechobee County Fair Association reserve the right to disqualify Miss Okeechobee County Fair at any time at the Director or Fair Association s sole discretion. The Pageant committee reserves the right to change the foregoing Rules and Regulations as necessary which will be presented at orientation.
