Please pay special attention to wave start times, briefing and course safety. At race 5 Prize money is only available for those in draft legal waves in the Olympic distance triathlon. 1st prize $200, 2nd $125, 3rd $75. Draft legal sprint distance athletes will be eligible for the Bulk Nutrients prize pack. FREE TRAINING CLINIC - SWIMMING CLINIC Swim training clinic focus on handling open water swim conditions. This is a practical session. WHERE: Peter Scullin Reserve, Mordialloc WHEN: Saturday 18 March, 2.00pm to 2.45pm YOU WILL NEED: Bathers, cap, goggles and wetsuit (if you wish to have the opportunity to practice the techniques being demonstrated) TRANSITION FAMILIARISATION: following the session at approx. 2.45pm WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: How to handle open water swim conditions. This introduces to the course you will swim tomorrow plus an opportunity to jump in and practice. Basic techniques of turning swim buoys, exiting and entering the water will also be covered. FREE TRAINING CLINIC - RACE TRANSITION CLINIC This clinic is an introduction to triathlon & practice transitions. This is a practical session. REGISTRATION INFORMATION OLYMPIC/SPRINT/MINI Collect your pre-packed race envelope that will contain: a coloured security wrist-band a Velcro timing ankle-band with a timing chip attached a bike & helmet security sticker and a swim cap. Please check your details printed on the sticker on the outside of your race kit. If incorrect in any way, you MUST return to the entries marquee to amend details. ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR PACK: Attach your SECURITY BAND on your wrist. This will allow you access into the transition area. Place your BIKE STICKER on the center of your handle bars/head stem and your HELMET STICKERS on the right hand side of your helmet and on the front. Proceed to the ARM NUMBERING area where you will have your race number written on your RIGHT ARM and your RIGHT THIGH, and race category letter written on the back of your RIGHT CALF. SAVE TIME! Pre-number yourself before arriving at the event site! All you need is a black marker. Proceed to the bike compound and place your bike on the rack where your race number is, or as directed by the marshals. Please ensure that your helmet is securely fastened and your security band is on in preparation for your security check as you enter the transition. You cannot leave bags in the transition area. Attend race briefing on the beach. Approximately 10mins prior to start of 1st wave. We have full road closures, however please be aware that local resident vehicles will use the designated slip lane on course. Always be aware of other cyclists on the road and keep left. Marshals will be in transition to assist any participants who may need help. TIMING BANDS: EVERYONE MUST RETURN THEIR TIMING BANDS AT THE FINISH LINE. BEGINNERS AND 1 ST TIMERS Would you like to be treated like a VIP? Do you need a hand in transition or help finding out how to set up your race gear? We re here to help you! If you feel like you might need some assistance, simply grab a FLURO YELLOW band to put around your seat pillar and marshals and Triathlon Victoria officials will help you accordingly. Bands can be collected from the entries marquee. SCHOOLS AND CLUBS All Triathlon Schools and Clubs attending have been given the opportunity to set up their marquees in our schools and clubs area to use as a base for their team. To book a marquee please download the marquee form from our website. ROAD CLOSURES AND PARKING Beach Road will be closed to traffic from Nepean Highway, Mordialloc to Bay Road, Sandringham from 6.00am to 11.00am. Parking inspectors will be patrolling all parking areas throughout the weekend. They will target the shopping precinct and car parks with time restictions in particular. CLOTHING DROP OFF A bag drop will be located at the event site for free storage of your clothing during the event. Please do not place any valuables in the bag drop area, as we cannot accept responsibility for valuables lost or stolen.

WAVE STARTS Participants will be segregated by age and gender on the beach. Age groups completing the 100m swim will be sent off in the following order: Male 7 years, Female 7 years, Male 8 years, Female 8 years, Male 9 years, Female 9 years and Multiclass. Age groups completing the 200m swim will then be sent off in the following order: Male 10 years, Female 10 years, Male 11 years, Female 11 years etc. and Multiclass. Wave size is guaranteed to be kept under 20 participants. Water depth MAY BE over the head of any participant, and therefore all children are expected to be able to swim this distance. Water safety will be supervising participants if they require assistance during the swim leg. All kids must wear the supplied swim cap, contained in the race kit. COURSE DETAILS Course Details 10-14 years and Multiclass Competitive Swim: 200m clockwise swim off Mordialloc beach Bike: 2 x 3km loop heading along Beach Road turning at Surf Street and heading south turning at Pier Road then back to transition. Run: 1km run out and back run towards the beach heading north on the beach path to the 10-14 year old turn point. Course Details 7-9 years and Multiclass Participation Swim: 100m clockwise swim off Mordialloc beach Bike: 1 x 3km loop heading north along Beach Road turning at Surf Street and heading south turning at Pier Road then back to transition. Run: 500m run out and back run towards the beach heading north on the beach path to the 7-9 year old turn point.

ACTIVETRI SOME IMPORTANT RULES GENERAL Do not wear electronic devices i.e. IPOD etc. BIKE COMPOUND All bags should be removed from transition prior to transition closing for the start of the event. SWIM May swim any stroke to move forward May tread water, float, hold buoy/paddleboard or stand on the bottom for a rest, but must not make forward progress whilst doing this. Should raise an arm overhead and call for assistance in an emergency. May wear wetsuits depending on air and water temperature CYCLE Must wear footwear and a top Must wear an approved helmet Helmet is to be fastened at all times once the bike is removed from the rack, on bike course and until bike is replaced on bike rack After getting on bike after the mount line, must Keep to left of the road, unless passing Keep a distance of 7 meters (draft zone) between front of your bike and the front of competitor s bike ahead, unless passing If passing, must pass on the right hand side and have 15 seconds to pass the front wheel of the competitor ahead. Must be making forward progress at all times. After passing must move to the left when safe to do so. Competitor passed must drop back out of draft zone (at least 7 meters) of competitors ahead. May be closer than 7 meters (in draft zone) when leaving or entering transition and making a turn. RUN Must wear shoes and a top NEW DRAFTING RULES CLICK HERE FULL TRIATHLON RULES CLICK HERE PENALTIES CYCLE COURSE Blue card shown by TO for not keeping a distance of 7 meters (drafting) or not passing on right of forward competitor, must serve a 3 minute time penalty at next Penalty Box Yellow card shown by TO for not keeping to left hand side of road (blocking), must report to the Penalty Box, sign the register and continue. GENERAL Stop/Start penalty to rectify any infringement of rules Red card shown by TO for a major infringement. May complete event. Race Referee will rule on infringement at conclusion of the race.
