The Cubs have lost their last four games and tonight aim to avoid matching their longest skid of the season, a five-game drought from May 1-May 6. The Cubs final three road series prior to the All-Star Break all take place here in the state of California following this four-game set, the Cubs return to Wrigley Field for a three-team, eight-game home stand from June 29-July 8 before heading back to California for a two-city trip to San Francisco and San Diego leading up to the Break. The Cubs have lost five-consecutive regular season games here at Dodger Stadium dating to 2016, their longest skid in this ballpark since a six-game drought from June 17-September 1, 1991 overall, the Cubs have lost seven games in a row here when one includes the two games in the NLCS last season. THIS IS ABOVE AVERAGE: Cubs outfielder Albert Almora went 3-for-5 yesterday to raise his season batting average to.323, fourth-best in the National League Almora aims to become the first Cubs player to be in the top five in the league in hitting at the All-Star Break since Derrek Lee ranked fifth with a.330 mark in 2007. A NIFTY FIFTY: Javier Báez yesterday drove recorded his 50th RBI of the season, tied with Anthony Rizzo for sixth most in the National League with three weeks to go til the All-Star Break, Báez is only the fifth middle infielder in franchise history to reach 50 RBI prior to the Break (since 1933), joining Ryne Sandberg (57 RBI in 1990, 52 RBI in 1984), Starlin Castro (52 RBI in 2014), Billy Herman (51 RBI in 1936) and Addison Russell (51 RBI in 2016). Meanwhile, Rizzo has reached 50 RBI by the Break for the fourth time in his career (also 2013, 2016 and 2017) he is only the second Cub first baseman in franchise history to do so four times before the Break, joining Ernie Banks (seven times). Moreover, Báez 13 stolen bases have come in 14 attempts his 92.9-percent stolen base success rate is tied with the Angels Mike Trout for the best in baseball. Báez aims to become the first Cubs right-handed hitter to reach 15 homers and 15 steals in a season since Alfonso Soriano did so in both 2007 and 2008 the last Cubs second baseman to reach 15 homers and 15 steals was Ryne Sandberg in 1992.
