March 2013 President's Message CLUB OFFICERS President President's Message Hello Members: We are getting a good start this year, we had another great turnout for breakfast at the Athens Cafe, twenty two members attended. Good food, good service and most of all, good fellowship. Sue Capps and Nancy Wittner did a fine job in arranging a tour of the Athens Historical Museum for us. I, as many of you, recognized most of the artifacts and remembered some of the good times and the hard work. I remember the Gauntt building from the sixties and seventies as Mr. Gauntt used to call on us at the "Countryside Grocery" in Payne Springs to sell us groceries and... Mr. Gauntt also delivered the Dallas Times Herald in the Mabank area during those years. Thanks Sue and Nancy, looking forward to driving down the road looking at the daffodils, bluebonnets, painted brush flowers and the overhanging trees once again. BOB BECK Most of our members have paid their dues by now, we still have a few that have not. Be sure and get your dues in for as you know the funds are a necessary part of our existence. 903-880-2545 Vice President OLA POWELL 903-451-5934 Secretary/Treasurer We have several members on the roster that have not attended a meeting in some time for one reason or another. Lets make an effort to call them and invite them back again. GIGI BECK 972-989-0386 BOARD of DIRECTORS Thank you Ola for bringing a guest to the last meeting, Robert had some very interesting things to say about the relationship of our two countries from a first hand experience. CHUCK SPORTSMAN 903-833-5572 WALT HELLEBRAND 903-451-2852 WALLACE KEMP The "Poor Boy Tour" is nearly upon us, so those of you who are still lingering, get it gear before its to late. See you next Tuesday, same time... same place. Bob 903-489-0026 -----------------------NEWSLETTER EDITOR and WEBMASTER BILL LEE Bill@WRLee.com

CEDAR CREEK MODEL A FORD CLUB Minutes for February 5, 2013 President Bob Beck called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM and welcomed everyone. He then led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Gigi Henderson read the treasurer s report. We are proud to welcome our newest member, James Duncan and wife Tina. SUNSHINE REPORT: Sue Capps related that Roberto Loar s Mother was back home and doing well. We acknowledged 2 members present, John Shore and Wallace Kemp as having Birthdays this month by singing our grand rendition of Happy Birthday. The monthly morning breakfast will be will be held on February 19th. Plans were made to meet at the Athens Cafe at 8:00 AM. Bob Beck noted that the patches for our Club Anniversary were still on order and hopes to have them for the March meeting. A meeting with Mr. Eason at Mabank High School was held on Feb. 5, arranging for the time and date of May 21, to have a tech session with the students. Please plan to attend and support our young Model A ers to be. The announcement was made of the Pour Boy Tour held on 3/14 & 15 in Giddings. If planning to go you must be a member of one of the sponsor clubs or you can be invited by one of their club members. Contact Walt or Sue to be a guest. Texas Tour in Round Rock registrations still not available. (Ed. Note: Now available on CCMAFC website.) Sue Capps will be coordinating local tours and if you have any suggestions for one please let her know. Bill Lee is handling tour arrangements to Chandler. Further study will be done. Lou and Billy Carpenter will be working on the Blue Bonnet tour in April. Ola Powell announced that the Texas Tour will be in Corsicana in June, 2014. Dallas chapter welcomes any suggestions for places of interest in that area. If you are aware of something, please notify Ola Powell. The winner of the raffle this month was Chuck Sportsman. Sue Capps invited all members to visit Shorty on March 23, for his birthday. If you are going at 1:00 to have lunch notify Sue. If going for cake and ice cream please be there at 2:00. We were pleased to have a visitor born in Germany who now resides in Mabank. Robert Schiendler captured our interest as he explained the differences between the two Countries, America and (Minutes Continued on Page 3) Page 2

(February Minutes continued) Germany now and as opposed to the 1940 s. Thank you Mr. Schiendler. Wednesday Breakfast (But on Tuesday again!) Tuesday, February 19 members of the club met at the Athens Cafe for our monthly Wednesday Breakfast. Yes, on Tuesday again! 22 folks turned out and there were several A's driven in spite of the very chilly weather. After a good breakfast and abundant fellowship, we all drove just a few blocks to visit the Athens Historical Museum, located in the old Faulk-Gauntt Building, just a half block north of the Henderson County Courthouse. Thanks to Nancy Wittner for the suggestion for us to visit the Athens museum after breakfast! It was thoroughly enjoyed by all... Page 4
