Please note: The "Highlights from Last Week" write-ups are provided by the Head Coaches of the respective teams and combined. If we do not receive a write-up from one of the coaches, we use the write-up of the other coach only, as we do not have any other information to go off of. Highlights from last week's (10/08/16) "Games of the Week" can be found below: K-1 Kell vs Wheeler The Kell K1 Longhorns, led by Coach Rick Hall, came prepared to play on Saturday against Wheeler K1. It was a great game for both teams. Coming off of a loss to Marietta, the Longhorns regrouped at practice. They defeated the Wildcats with a final score of 35-6. Kell won the toss and elected to kick. O'Keefe kicked off and the game got started from there. Wheeler's #9 Gustavo Veioa had a few big plays and #84 Chance Cooper played outstanding as well. However, the drive stalled out after two mishandled snaps and Kell took over after #19 Kaden Perez jumped the snap and made a big 4th down tackle in the back field. The Longhorn defense did a great job the entire game. On the opening drive, DJ Washington took the ball and on a 20+ yard run put the Longhorns in Wheeler territory. #8 Brayden Hughes, who drove further towards the end zone, set up #7 Austin Conant to score. This scoring drive was made possible by great snaps from#25 Kaden Fleurisma and blocking by the entire team. Moving quickly to the second quarter, Conant took the ball in to score. Wheeler got the ball on a Longhorn kick on the Longhorn 48 yard line. The Wildcats were unable to covert on 4th downand the Longhorns took over. On this series, #6 Landon Foster took the ball in for a 59- yard touchdown following the blocks of the entire right side of the line. Coach Hall called for a 2 point conversion that was just out of reach of its intended receiver. Wheeler took possession and moved the ball downfield and Kell, with 20 seconds to go in the half, took over on downs. With one second left on the clock, Coach Hall called a reverse and DJ Washington was in for the score. The extra point attempt was no good, ending the first half of play. 3rd quarter began as the Longhorns received the ball and it was a march down the field by the entire backfield. #1 Trey Wolfe took the ball around the left side putting the Longhorns within 10 yards of the goal. The next play resulted in a Longhorn touchdown. Wheeler took the ball and a long run set the Wildcats up with great field position. On the next play, Wheeler took it in

for their first score of the game. 4th quarter saw a series of back and forth penalties by each team. Kell scored again in a run by Foster and a successful extra point attempt by Washington. As the game clock wound down the final score came to Kell 35 Wheeler 6. Kell wants to thank Wheeler for hosting the game. Wheeler's hardworking team never gave up and both players and coaches displayed great sportsmanship. The Wildcats defense was led by #9 Gustavo Veioa, #2 Donovan Rouse, and #20 Amari Willis. Wheeler will be traveling to Marietta High School this weekend to battle against the K1 Blue Devils. The Longhorns will also be traveling this weekend and will take on the K1 Walton Raiders at Walton High School. 2nd Grade Harrison vs North Paulding Silver Harrison 2nd faced off against the 2nd grade North Paulding Silver team last weekend. The Hoyas went into the game knowing it would be hard fought battle. They were up for the challenge and came away victorious with a final score of 33-13. After a few grinding first downs, Corbin Trice scored on a 10-yard touchdown run with outstanding blocking from Sam Kirk to start off the game. North Paulding Silver put together a great drive themselves by scoring on their possession and converting the extra point. On the next possession, Harrison drew together a string of plays that ended with a 15-yard touchdown run by Corbin Trice. A great throw and catch combination with Chase Beasley and Landon Jones converted the 2-point conversion to go up 14-7. Harrison's defense anchored down and kept North Paulding Silver out the end zone for the next few possessions, led by great plays from Kingston Woodbury and Gannon Griffin. During this time, Harrison's offense kept clicking with a 40 yard touchdown run by JJ Bowman who was provided with some outstanding blocking from Grady Sitten and Jaxon Bowen and with the converted extra point, Harrison led 20-7 by the end of the half. Jordan Sanders made some great moves to run the second half kickoff return back 57 yards for a touchdown to go up 27-7 with the converted extra point. Harrison's defense was still solid after the half with some great tackles from Jackson Holdaway and Marcus Labouchere. The North Paulding Silver defense tightened up and was able to shut Harrison's offense down on the next possession while getting their offense back rolling with a touchdown drive of their own to bring the score to 27-13. North Paulding Silver continued their defensive stand by shutting down another possession of Harrison. After some great runs by Jordan Sanders, Corbin Trice was able to punch it in from one yard away behind great blocking from Cole Peterson and Dalton Petty. Matthew Syken had an amazing sack to go along with his many other tackles throughout the game. Harrison Head Coach Chris Trice added, "Aiden Willis, Colton Burns, Jayden Hawkins, Hayden Padgett, Matthew Snodgrass and Raymond Ramos continue to work hard in practice and showed that improvement with some big plays throughout the game. I am amazed at the progress I've seen and the selfless attitude they bring each week." North Paulding Silver had a tough match-up with Harrison's fast offense and tough defense. Even so, they played hard all game with impressive offensive plays and some outstanding defensive stands. It was a true team effort from the 2nd grade team, and they never gave up. They worked hard until the last whistle. The Wolfpack will be traveling to Roswell Area Park this weekend to take on the Roswell's 2nd grade team, while the Hoyas will be traveling to Sprayberry High School to face off against the 2nd grade Yellow Jackets. 3rd Grade Allatoona vs Pope In a close game, the 3rd grade Pope Greyhounds defeated the 3rd grade Allatoona Buccaneers with a final score of 14-7. Allatoona opened with a long run by #44 Gabriel Morgan in the first quarter. He was tackled at the 3 yard line by Greyhound #24 William Childs. Allatoona scored a couple of plays later and converted the extra point try to take a 7-0 lead. In the second quarter, Pope responded with a long drive. #18 Keita Watanabe scored on a quarterback sneak after #14 Evan Tait carried the ball down to the 1 yard line. On the ensuing PAT, #18 Watanabe completed a pass to #24 William Childs for a two point conversion. Pope took the lead 8-7.

In the third quarter, the teams exchanged possessions with no scoring. In the fourth quarter, Pope sustained a drive for the go ahead touchdown. #18 Keita Watanabe scored again on a Quarterback keeper. The attempted pass on the extra point fell incomplete for a 14-7 lead for the Greyhounds. On the ensuing kick-off, #44 DeJuan Fields forced a fumble that was recovered by the Greyhounds. The teams exchanged possessions one more time. Pope took a knee to end the game. Pope was very balanced on offense. Six different backs had carries. #18 Keita Watanabe and #23 Fletcher King rotated time at quarterback and did a very good job at directing the offense. #44 Dejuan Fields and #29 Dominic King had several big solo tackles. The entire Pope defense did a great job pursuing to the ball and gang tackling as well. It was a great game with two teams playing with great effort. Pope will be hosting the Walton 3rd Raiders this weekend at Walton High School, while Allatoona will be hosting another group of Raiders, taking on the East Paulding 3rd grade team. 4th Grade Harrison Green vs McEachern Gold In a great, hard fought 4th grade game, the Harrison Green Hoyas defeated the McEachern Gold Indians 13-6. The game started with an onside kick recovery by Harrison Green. McEachern Gold's defense gave up nothing and forced a punt by Harrison on a 3 and out. After a tackle for a loss by Harrison #35 Colin Bellomy, McEachern's #7 Elijah Seifuddin had a great 70-yard touchdown run on 3rd down to give the Indians the early lead. Harrison's #27 Thomas Hale had great open field tackle to stop the extra point. Harrison opened its next series with a great run by #7 Aidan Williams. McEachern Gold's defense buckled down and stopped Harrison with an Interception by #3 Colin Ford. 1st Quarter: McEachern Gold leads 6-0. Harrison Green's defense not to be outdone stepped up and stopped McEachern Gold with a sack on 4th down by #23 James Collins. Strong defense continued on both sides for most of the 1st half until Harrison Green's #7 Aidan Williams broke through for a 70-yard touchdown run capped off with a strong extra point run by #27 Thomas Hale. Halftime: Harrison Green leads 7-6. Continuing with the theme of the day, strong defenses from both teams led to a scoreless 3rd quarter. 3rd Quarter: Harrison Green leads 7-6. The 4th quarter opened with touchdown pass by #7 Aidan Williams to #13 Ethan Harris to extend the Harrison lead. McEachern Gold's #92 Patrick Reddick got a big stop on the extra point attempt to keep it a 7-point game, with Harrison Green leading 13-6. Harrison Green's defense held off McEachern Gold's 4th quarter rally, capped off with touchdown saving tackle by #29 Ty Hartzog on the game's last play. Final: Harrison Green defeats McEachern Gold 13-6. The Hornet's Head Coach Cory Bellomy explained, "I thought that our boys played with a lot of heart. After a key loss on the defense early in the game, the rest of the team really stepped up and played hard to the last whistle. Our running backs ran really hard and kept fighting for tough yards against a great McEachern Gold team. As a coach, I really enjoyed watching a group of 4th graders, on both sides, compete on the field." Harrison Green will be traveling to Marietta to face off against the 4th Grade Blue Devils, while McEachern Gold will be traveling to East Paulding this weekend to take on the 4th Grade Raiders. 5th Grade Roswell Black vs Walton Red The Roswell Black Hornets rolled into Raider Valley shorthanded with several key lineman out, plus their starting corner, and carrying a 4-1 record. The Walton Red Raiders were also shorthanded playing without their starting quarterback and a few others. In the end, it was the Hornets that took the victory with a final score of 16-8. Walton received the ball first but the Hornets were able to stop them. During the Hornets first possession, they had several good runs from Matthew Pressnall and Ezra Moore. Quarterback

Brady Krantz threw a nice pass to Ashton Stevens but it fell incomplete. After another series or two of back and forth action, the Hornets drove the ball down to the 1-yard line on a sustained drive carried by Moore and finally punched in on 4th down by Pressnall. This was the key moment of the first half. Jacob Meador made the kick for the 2 point conversion. Roswell went into half up 8-0. In the second half, Roswell received the kick but failed to move the ball. The Raiders opened up their passing game completing several long passes including a touchdown. They also kicked their 2 point conversion leaving the score tied at 8-8. Meador fielded the kickoff and after a few plays, Pressnall broke a 50-yard touchdown moving the score to 16-8. From there it was a defensive battle. The Hornets were able to stop the Raiders from moving the ball on the outstanding play of Linebackers Pressnall, Moore, Davis Strickland, and Liam Walker. Corners Colin Phillips and Ashton Stevens, plus Meador at safety, did a great job holding the Raiders vaunted passing attack to just a few completions. Finally, some of the best defensive play for the Hornets came from Defensive Ends Anthonie Knapp and Cal Liston. They held the Raiders running game in check most of the day. In the end, the Hornets were able to run the clock out on some great blocking upfront by Liston, Knapp, Walker, Strickland, Elliot Price, Jack Garrett, and Bobby Watkins. Brady Krantz did a fantastic job of working the play clock down to the wire before running the plays. All in all, it was a terrific, hard fought game by both teams. Next week, the Hornets travel to Harrison Green, while the Raiders travel to East Paulding to take on East Paulding 5th Silver.
