The Rambler JANUARY 21, 2016 Being an RLS Ram, a Lamb & a Child of God Kindergarten Round-Up is fast approaching and will be from 9:30-11:00am on Saturday, January 30th. Children who are kindergarten-age (turn 5 before 9/1/16) and their parents are invited to this special event. We ve had a good sign-up thus far; if you know of anyone who is interested in attending RLS, please share your RLS experience with them and invite them to set up a tour or come on January 30th. In addition to Kindergarten Round-Up, Precious Lambs Preschool will begin enrollments for returning students on February 1st. Spots fill up fast! To ensure a spot for the 2016-2017 school year, please talk to our Pre-K Director, Mr. Christensen, or pick up an enrollment folder from the office. Not only that, but we will also be opening up re-enrollment for current RLS students. Please return the salmon-colored enrollment form that will come home with your student on February 1st. If you or someone you know is interested in Resurrection Lutheran School or Precious Lambs Preschool, please have them contact us through the office at 282-8280. We would gladly be available to answer any questions and give tours of our school and the preschool. To prepare all children for this life and eternal life through Christ-centered education Our Christian Cornerstone Bible lessons for this week follows the theme of God s Word is the one thing needed. When Jesus Visits Mary and Martha the students learn how Jesus taught his friend Martha that the Word was the one thing needed. Serving in our family, workplace and play is good as long as we make time for the one thing needed: the Word itself! May the Lord give each of us a renewed desire sit at Jesus feet and gladly hear His Word. In the next lesson, The Big Dinner, students learn that those who despise God s Word may not enjoy His banquet of salvation and will discuss ways to gladly hear and learn the Word. Psalms is a wonderful resource to teach us, comfort us, and strengthen our faith. As you continue to let the Word dwell in you richly, immerse your family in the richness of the psalms and ask the Lord to bless your study. Next week s theme is: Our theme is Jesus forgives repentant sinners. The first lesson, The Pharisee and Tax Collector, shows students two very different prayers. The Pharisee bragged about his good works but the tax collector humbly asked God to have mercy on him. Both were sinners and both were redeemed by Jesus on the cross but the Pharisee was not forgiven because he rejected it! The tax collector confessed his sins and trusted God to forgive him. The second lesson, The Lost Son, shows us our Father loves us and forgives our sins when we repent. The lost son returned home after living sinfully and his father welcomed him home instead of scolding him. That s how God forgives and welcomes us, too. We are His own dear sons and daughters! Cheering All cheerleaders are welcome to come to the Tournament and cheer for the games. However, we do not expect cheer families to make a special trip to New Ulm. Our expectation for the cheerleaders is that any A-team cheerleaders attending the tournament would cheer for all boys' A-team games. The exception to this is if the boys play before the girls that day. We will take one day at a time and be clear in our communication while in New Ulm. All B-team cheerleaders attending the tournament are welcome to cheer for the boys' games as well (and possibly girls' games too!). Please let us know if your cheerleader will be attending the tournament. If your cheerleader really wants to attend, but your family isn't planning to, please send Miss Hagglund an email (ahagglund@resurrection-wels.org) or give her a call to discuss some possible options. This week some special learning is taking place as the 1st graders work on reading, taking notes, writing, and editing for the Learning Fair. We Finally Used Them! Last week the 1st graders got to use the Chromebooks for the first time. Although it took some time for everyone to get logged in, all were able to do it and get to work practicing math facts. The students are looking forward to using the Chromebooks weekly from now on. Praise the Lord: A reminder that grades K-2 sing at Life Lutheran this Sunday, January 24th.
