DRILLSHIP * PACIFIC SANTA ANNA * Drilling Contractor: Pacific Drilling year built / delivered: 1Q 2012 The drillship owned by Pacific Drilling is thought to be the first of its kind in the world equipped to perform dual gradient drilling (DGD). DGD uses a subsea mud pump (Chevron design) to withdraw the drilling mud from the well at the seabed and return it through a separate line to the drillship. It is equipped with a DGD riser, a mud lift pump handling system, six mud pumps three for drilling fluid and three for seawater extensive fluid management system enhancements. DYNAMIC POSITIONING SYSTEM (DYPO) A computer controlled system to automatically maintain a ship s position and heading by using its own thrusters (propellers). (Thruster system: gives a thrust to counter the environment condition, so that the drillship or the semi-sub. can be in desired position) Presentation JB AG JCN JR 52
