Chapter L s Toad Tales Conway, AR. Page 2 Hello Everybody, Here we are at the end of not only a great month but also a great year. Becky and I hope that everyone has had a great Thanksgiving, a very Merry Christmas, and what we hope and pray will be a wonderful and safe New Year. Becky and I have had a lot of fun this past year going on rides to different places including Harrison, AR for the District Rally and to Greenville, SC so that we could attend Wingding 35. The trip to Greenville was great since we were able to ride the Tail of the Dragon and visit with friends and family while we were there. We have also started going on a few rides with the Benton chapter of the CMA. This past year was great not only because of spending time with our GWRRA family, but also the addition of three new grandbabies born in 2013. Our new additions include Nathan Farris born on April 3rd, Konner Denison born on May 21st, and Hailey Farmer born on Nov. 3rd. Luckily the only bad thing this past year (other than forgetting our anniversary) was falling off the roof when the ladder decided to show me the quick way to get to the ground and to remind me that gravity rules' when I ended up with a lot of sore muscles and bones and a bad concussion. The soreness is almost gone but I am still having residual effects from the concussion such as vertigo, loss of equilibrium, and tinnitus. Becky and I would like to wish all of you a safe and Happy New Year.

Page 5 Chapter L s Toad Tales Conway, AR. Winter Wonderland: December 21 st was the first day of winter and many wingers have put their bikes up for winter and will anxiously wait for the first day of spring. This seems like a long way off, however it will come much quicker than we think. Then we will once again zing around the twisties in Arkansas and surrounding states. For those of you who will continue to ride during the winter months it is a good idea to break out the heated gear and make sure all circuits work. Nothing is worst than planning a winter ride to find out that hour heated gear is not working as you thought it should. WOW! What a bummer that would be for everyone. For those faithful riders that do not have the luxury of heat clothing you can always wear insulated under garments that will fit nicely under your jeans and long sleeve shirts. You can top that off with leather chaps and jacket or like Belinda and I did, we had layers of clothing with ski pants and coat with scarves around our necks to keep the cold air out. Always remember no matter what you wear make several stops to warm up before continuing on your journey. Hot coffee, coco, or warm tea will surly warm up a cold body on a winter ride. Remember to do you T-CLOCKS every time you start out no matter which way you choose to ride. Check road conditions because nobody wants to be caught out in harsh weather. If you choose to ride during the winter months remember watch for black ice and ice on bridges that mess will get you every time. Ride safe and ride as often as you can. Have a safe and healthy New Year!!
Page 6 Chapter L s Toad Tales Conway, AR. Welcome from Your District Directors Johnny and Mildred Glasscock Arkansas District Directors HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! We hope that everyone had a safe beginning to 2014. We are already looking forward to seeing the monthly calendars and for riding season. Be sure to include other chapter, district and region events on your monthly calendars, we want everyone to know what's happening. PARTICIPATION = FUN CONGRATULATIONS to Chapter D for winning the 2013 Travelers Award. It was a close race. So now the miles start over and let's see who wants it this year!!! We are very sorry that we had to cancel the toy run and district Christmas party. We wanted everyone to stay safe and so did AR Children Hospital, maybe we can get a list of needed items in the spring and help them then. Thank you chapter E for taking the toys your chapter collected to the hospital on another day. We are sure other chapters did the same but we only got an email from Chapter E about the intentions. The district business meeting is January 25, 2014. We will have coffee and donuts at 8 AM and plan to get started at 8:30. We plan on being finished by 3 PM. Directors please bring as many of your core team members as possible, also include your chapter couples. There will be break outs so bring any question or concerns. Make sure the treasures have completed the end of year financial statement, bring your chapter charter and web hosting fees. We ask that you keep members of our GW family in your thought, we have some in the district that has been in the hospital and dealing with serious health issues. Take just a few minutes to drop them an email or quick call, it would mean a lot. Wendell & Marie Vance from LA will be staying in Little Rock for an extended period of time; they have rented an apartment there. Marie is having health issue and she will be receiving treatment at UAMS. If you are in the area I'm sure they would appreciate a call or visit as long as she is feeling well. Let's make them feel at home in Arkansas, let them know when your monthly gathering are scheduled.
