PAW PRINTS LAST TIME OUT After scoring two goals early in the first half, Ohio secured a 2-1 victory over in-state rival and Atlantic-10 conference favorite Dayton on Sunday, Aug. 21 in Athens, Ohio. In 2015, High Point finished the season 12-5-4 overall, with a OHIO vs. OPPONENTS GAME-BY-GAME 6-3-1 Big-South COMPARISON record finishing fourth in the conference. The Freshman midfielder Sydney Leckie (Medina, Ohio) scored a goal on an assist from Remi Eades (New Albany, Ohio) from the right to beat the keeper to the right side of the goal in the sixth minute to give Ohio an early 1-0 lead. Junior midfielder Allie Curry (Fairfield, Ohio) scored Ohio s second goal in the 16th minute on an assist from Bryce Hueber (Cincinnati, Ohio) on a shot straight away to draw the keeper out of the goal. The Bobcats registered a total of seven corner kicks while Dayton recorded six. Junior Vanessa Cordoba (Bogota, Cudinamarca, Colombia) played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bobcats allowing one goal and registering six saves. LIFETIME AGAINST HIGH POINT This will mark the first meeting between the Bobcats and the Panthers. SCOUTING THE PANTHERS High Point is currently 2-0-1 on the season and is coming off of a 2-0 win against Appalachian State in the team s home opener on Friday (Aug. 26). Redshirt-junior Bailey Beattie and sophomore Tyler Gordon both scored in the second half for the Panthers. Junior Alex Hank made four saves to pick up her second clean sheet of the season. Panthers scored 32 goals in 311 attempts. High Point averaged 13 shots per game and 1.3 goals per game. High Point finished the 2015 postseason 1-1 in the Big South Tournament to earn the fourth spot in the conference. High Point has 23 players returning to the 2016 roster including nine starters. #BLEEDGREEN Both squads were aggressive for the remainder of the game but neither team could put another ball in the net in the second half. Ohio would tally six shots in the second half as well as two corner kicks. Overall, Ohio outshot the Flyers 17 to 12, with both Leckie The Panther s junior goalkeeper Alex Hank was named the Big South Defensive Player of the week on Monday, Aug. 22 after recording five saves in a double-overtime 0-0 draw at UNCG. Hank was the 2015 Big South Defensive Player of the Year.

Alivia Milesky and Allie Curry have both tallied four shots while Curry also has one goal registered for Ohio. Katie McCurley currently has one goal and two shots on the season. CURRENT MAC STANDINGS Ohio is currently sixth in shots with 26 total and an average of 13 shots per game. The Bobcats are tied for the fifth spot in goals with Kent State and Akron all with three on the Season and 1.5 goals per game average. Ohio ranks fourth in the MAC in saves with 11, averaging 5.5 saves per game. The Bobcats are also sixth in corners with 10 on the season. IF THE BOBCATS If the Bobcats defeat High Point, Ohio will start the season 2-1-0 for the first time since 2005. EARLY ON SUCCESS - Ohio s win against Dayton was the program s first ever win against the Flyers. Prior to last Sunday s win, Dayton held a 6-0 advantage over the Bobcats. - Ohio s 1-1 start to open the season, is the first time since 2011 that the Bobcats are 1-1 to begin the season. - The Bobcats three goals through the first two games this season has already out number the about scored through the first five of last season (two). FRESHMEN MAKING AN IMPACT So far this season, freshmen have made an impact early on. Freshman Sydney Leckie is leading the team with shots and shots on goal while scoring a goal and registering two points for the Bobcats. Alivia Milesky is also at the top of the leaders with four shots and Remi Eades has registered and assist for Ohio. FINDING THE TWINE The Bobcats finished the 2015 campaign with 17 goals on the season. IN THE RECORD BOOKS Alexis Milesky is now tied for eighth all time in goals at Ohio with 14 career goals. MAC PRESEASON POLL The Bobcats were selected to finish fourth in the Mid-American Conference s East Division in a vote of the league s head coaches, it was announced on Aug. 15. The Cats are tabbed to finish ahead of divisional rivals Akron and Bowling Green. RETURNING CATS This season, three of the team s top six goal scorers return in 2016 - including Allie Curry (Fairfield, Ohio), Alexis Milesky (Plain City, Ohio), and Hannah Jaggers(Taylorsville, Ky.). In goal, Taylor Smith (Uniontown, Ohio) is back in the mix and Rianna Reese (Liberty Township) also returns to help slow down the opposition s attack. BRAINIAC CATS Nine members of the team were named to the 2015 Academic All-MAC Team and four were named Academic All-Ohio to conclude the season. CAPTAINING THE BOBCATS Senior forward Alexis Milesky has been named captain for the 2016 season, with junior Celeste Fushimi-Karns and sophomore Rianna Reese earning the assistant captain title. BOBCATS ADD A TRANSFER The Bobcats added transfer Bryce Hueber (Cincinnati, Ohio) to the roster this offseason. Hueber, a midfielder played two seasons for the Wright State. In 2015 her was named All-Ohio and first-team All Horizon League. The Cincinnati, Ohio native played and started in 19 games and scored six goals with two coming against Youngstown State. She also registered three assists with 62 shots, 25 on goal. She was also responsible for four game winning goals. As a freshman in 2014 she was named to the Horizon League Freshman Team. She played in 17 games with 19 shots on goal three goals and one assist and finished the season with seven total points. UP NEXT The Bobcats will travel to Cleveland State on Wednesday, Sept. 2 for an in-state battle with the Vikings. First-kick is set for 7 p.m. at Krenzler Field. Director of Athletics Jim Schaus appointed Rodgers as the third head coach in school history on Dec. 22, 2012. In his third season, Ohio had nine members of the team earn Academic All-MAC honors while four Bobcats were named to Academic All-Ohio as well. Stephanie Rowland was also awarded MAC All-Freshman to conclude the 2015-16 season. The Bobcats finished the regular season with a record of 5-13 going 3-7 in conference play. In Rodgers second season, the Bobcats earned a Public Recognition Award from the NCAA for stellar academic performance. On top of that, the Cats were also honored by the NSCAA with the Team Academic Award for the second year in a row. Ohio also had nine members of the team earn Academic All-MAC honors. Ohio finished the regular season with a record of 6-13 going 3-8 in conference play. In Rodgers first season at the helm, the Bobcats finished the 2013 regular season with their first non-losing record since 09 (7-7-5) and posted five road victories - the most wins away from home for the program since 04. Ohio tallied 26 goals in 2013 - the program s most in a decade. Forward Alexis Milesky earned a spot on the 2013 Mid-American Conference All-Freshman Team after starting all 20 matches and tying for the team lead in points (11) and goals (4) while tying for third on the team in assists (3). Senior Mattie Liston finished her career as Ohio s most prolific goalkeeper, departing with program standards in career games played (73), games started (71), minutes (6,670), saves (403) and shutouts (20). Her 107 saves in 2013 rank as the third-most in a single season in school history. Ohio excelled in the classroom as well, as the squad earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year by posting a 3.30 team grade point average. Senior midfielder/forward Maggie Murnane garnered Academic All-MAC recognition while junior midfielder Annie Beard, sophomore defender Grace Campbell, junior defender Gabby Hausfeld, redshirt freshman midfielder/forward Sasha Haverchak and sophomore defender/midfielder Leah Sandercock received Academic All-MAC Honorable Mention. Campbell, Hausfeld and Murnane also earned spots on the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association s Academic All-Ohio NCAA Division I Third Team. Rodgers came to Athens after spending the previous four seasons (2009-12) at the University of Kentucky, where he helped direct the Wildcats to a 42-30-5 record. Rodgers helped guide the Wildcats to the NCAA Championship in back-to-back seasons in 2011 and 12. The 2012 season was arguably the best in program history, as Rodgers helped UK to 14 wins and its first-ever NCAA Championship victory. The Wildcats won eight Southeastern Conference games for the first time since 1999, tying the program record for conference wins in a season. Under Rodgers direction, UK goalkeeper Kayla King posted a 13-2-1 record in the net with a 0.71 goals against average. She earned National Defensive Player of the Week honors after posting back-to-back shutouts at Tennessee and Georgia. Prior to the 2012 campaign, Rodgers helped the Wildcats land the sixth-ranked recruiting class in the nation, according to TopDrawerSoccer. com Rodgers also mentored UK goalie Sydney Hiance, who posted 12 shutouts in two seasons, including seven in 2009 -- the third-most in a single season in school history. Hiance finished her career ranked second in UK history in shutouts (20), saves (283), minutes (6143:56) and fourth in goals against average (1.23). Prior to his arrival in Lexington, Rodgers spent a year as a volunteer coach with the University of Florida, serving as the goalkeeper coach. During his time in Gainesville, the Gators captured the 2008 SEC title and reached the NCAA Sweet 16. Rodgers other SEC stop came in 1998 at the University of Alabama. The Crimson Tide won the SEC West Division and earned an NCAA Championship berth that season. Rodgers coached 1998 First Team All-SEC selection Rachel Brown, who is currently the goalkeeper for the England National Team. Rodgers began his coaching career as an assistant coach for the women s team at his alma mater, the University of North Texas. After a year with the Mean Green, he spent the 1996 and 97 seasons as the University of South Alabama assistant. While at USA, the Jaguars went from a 2-17 record in 1996 to 18-3-1 in 97, marking the biggest turnaround in women s collegiate history. Rodgers went on to accept the associate director position at the nationally prominent Cardinal Soccer Club located in Cincinnati, Ohio. He spent almost two years with the program, working with players aged seven to 20. A volunteer coaching position for the University of North Florida for the 2001 season followed, and the Ospreys finished the campaign nationally ranked. He spent the 2005-07 seasons as an assistant coach for the Flager College men s team. Rodgers played collegiate soccer at both Arkansas-Little Rock (1991) and North Texas (1992-93). He also played four seasons with various United Soccer League (USL) teams in the southeast, including the Texas Toros (1993-1994), Dallas Rockets (1995) and Mobile Revelers (1997). A University of North Texas graduate, Rodgers received his bachelor s degree in political science in 1996. Rodgers and his wife, Mandi, have a son, Luke, and a daughter, Reese.
