Double B Shootout 2018
Stage 1- Rebels Blondie rides away leaving Tuco perched on a wobbly grave marker with a noose around his neck. Blondie is about to turn and shoot the rope when four rebel deserters step out of a thicket. With pistols holstered, shotgun on rock and rifle on money bag. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- STARTING POSITION: Standing behind reins. Stage 2 Unhappy Tong Blondie, now a very wealthy man, arrives in San Francisco. With a small portion of his fortune he buys the biggest saloon in town. He hires dancers who had been working for Mr. Lee - head of the most powerful tong in San Francisco. The Chinese gang was not happy. Blondie arrives early for a full dress rehearsal of the saloon s opening show. The place is swarming with tong cutthroats. STARTING POSITION: Standing behind Saloon, hands on window ledge. Stage 3 Sal & Hal Blondie discovers the bodies of his best gal Sal and his best pal Hal behind the bar. Mr. Leeʼs days are numbered. Disguised as a coolie, Blondie enters the Tongʼs inner sanctum. Stage 4 Silver BOOM Sick of the soft life, all the killing and the smog Blondie banked most of his money and headed to Eureka County Nevada. On the trail he befriended a young mining engineer and together they built the first smelter in the area. This allowed ore which was high in lead content to be mined profitably. A silver BOOM ensued. It was 1869 and Blondie made another fortune. But one day, as Blondie and his young friend peered into a mine cart full of ore, a shot rang out. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- STARTING POSITION: Standing behind cart, both hands on cart. Stage 5 Glass River Blondie sells the smelter and makes another fortune. Time for a holiday. Seven days and nights on a Mississippi riverboat. Each morning the shootists on board gambled on their shooting skills with a variety of firearms. Glass balls were thrown over the side to float in the current alongside the paddle wheeler. --------------------------------------------------------------------- STARTING POSITION: Standing behind shotgun table with shotgun at port arms. Stage 6 Mail Order Gone Bad Blondie moved on to Texas and bought a huge cattle ranch. By 1875 he had the big house, the cattle, the 10 gallon hat. Only a wife was missing. He ordered one from a catalogue. She arrived from Germany in 1875 along with her 7 brothers. As he waited for his bride Blondie fell for and married an Indian princess. Oh! Oh! While in transit the lady and her brothers learned what Blondie had done. Stage 7 Bogus Clancy Blondieʼs wife died of typhoid fever in 1880. The twins were 5 and Blondie was 35. He returned to San Francisco to raise the twins as gentlemen. To keep busy while the boys were at boarding school he opened a detective agency. His calling card read Have Gun. Will Travel An elderly matron wanted her nephew found. He had been stolen by his own father - a smooth talking, talkative varmint called Clancy. On a dusty street in Bogus, California Blondie faces Clancy and his gang. --------------------------------------------------------------------- STARTING POSITION: Standing in rope box, holding rifle at Arizona surrender. Stage 8 Spoiled Captives The twins turn 15 and they are spoiled rotten. Blondie is 45 and desperate. It is 1890. He decides a 2 month hunting and fishing trip in the great northeast is the solution. No guides. No butlers. Hunting and fishing was great and the twins became cooperative and hard working. Blondie was proud. BUT a fanatical cult had established a school in the wilderness. The twins were kidnapped. Blondie went after them. Pinned down behind a rock, Blondie risked all to save his boys. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- STARTING POSITION: Standing behind rock with hands on pistols. Stage 9 Familiar Fellow The boys have grown. Have families of their own. Moved back east. Blondie is 63 and still looking for adventure. He is a very wealthy man so he can afford to buy one of the first Ford Model Ts off the assembly line in 1908. Time for a road trip. While cruising down a dusty road in New Mexico, Blondie spots a beautiful hacienda. The T is running hot so he stops to get some water. There is something familiar about the old fellow slowly rising from the porch rocking chair. He draws an ancient six shooter and zings a bullet past Blondieʼs ear. TUCO cackles at his own joke and embraces his old friend. Blondie shows Tuco the off road capability of the Model T. But their reunion is interrupted by Tucoʼs OLD gang - fresh out of prison. Stage 10 Blondie in Hollywood Blondie lived long enough to become an elder statesman and a cowboy hero. A famous Hollywood director asked Blondie to advise on his next film. It was called In Old Arizona. Blondie coached the actor who was to play the starring role. Warner Baxter was to play Cisco Kid. Blondie remembered his time shooting on the riverboat using various firearms. Instead of glass balls he used metal targets. Below is the scenario he set up for Warner. It was the first ever cowboy action stage. In Old Arizona was made in 1928. At the second Academy Award ceremony, Warner Baxter won the best actor award for his role as Cisco Kid. Warner was so grateful to Blondie he gave away his statuette! Blondie was 83. Years later Blondie was buried beside his wife at his Texas ranch.
