Lycoming Intramural Sports General Policies and Procedures Registration Roster registration is available on www.imleagues.com/lycoming. A team representative must be at the mandatory captains meeting. Free Agents If a person does not have a team, they may come to the captains meeting to try and get picked up on a team. Official placement is done on www.imleangues.com/lycoming. Placement on a team is not a guarantee. Captains Meeting A team captains meeting is scheduled before Intramural play begins. Each team is required to have a representative at the meeting to assure team playing status. The meeting will cover schedules, rescheduling procedures, forfeits, inclement weather procedures, disciplinary action and any special rules. Team Captain Responsibilities Each team participating in any Intramural activity must have a designated team captain who will act as the official liaison between that team and the Recreation Department. Responsibilities include: * Submitting an electronic team roster in time for registration. * Attending mandatory captains meetings or send a representative. * Be responsible for the eligibility and behavior of all your teams players and spectators, before, during and after the contest. * Be responsible for ensuring all your team members understand and abide by all Intramural Sports policies and rules. *Checking the schedule for updates/changes in game times and notifying teammates. Eligibility All Lycoming College current students, faculty and staff are eligible to participate in Intramural Sports. Eligibility status is the responsibility of each individual and the team captain. A team will forfeit any contest in which an ineligible player was used. A person may play on only one women s or men s team or one co-rec team in a given

sport. Eligibility is established by being listed on the team roster on IM leagues, no exceptions. Individuals who have participated on a team may not transfer from one team to another team in a sport during that season. A person who plays for a second team during a sport season is considered ineligible and cannot play for the second team (the second team will forfeit if they use the ineligible player). Varsity athletes are ineligible to participate in intramural sports in the same sport during in-season. ID Policy Participants must present a valid Lycoming College ID in order to participate in an Intramural game. Any player using an assumed name or invalid ID will cause their team to forfeit the game. Schedules Schedules will be available online approximately 48 hours after the registration deadline. Team captains are responsible for checking their schedule. Game Changes Teams may try and reschedule regular season games during the first week of play by contacting the Director. Reschedules cannot be guaranteed. NO reschedules will be permitted following this one week period. Playoff Games NO NEW PLAYERS MAY BE ADDED DURING PLAYOFFS. Everyone needs to play one regular season game in order to participate in the playoffs. Once the playoff brackets have been set, playoff games will NOT be rescheduled unless postponed due to inclement weather or when certain conflicts within Intramural Sports arise (i.e., teams playing in multiple sports tournaments simultaneously, participants playing on 2 teams in the same sport [co-rec and 1 other team]). Teams should alert the Intramural Sports staff when such conflicts may arise. The Intramural Sports staff will initiate reschedules in the event of rain or these noted scheduling conflicts. Forfeits A team will forfeit a contest if not ready to play within 5 minutes of scheduled start time. Any team forfeiting two games will be automatically dropped from the league. Defaults Any team knowing in advance that they will be unable to play a regularly scheduled contest is provided the opportunity to default (not play this contest). In order for the contest to be considered a default, it must be proven that the team legitimately cannot start with the required amount of people. The captain must email, call or text the Director or Supervisors at least 24 HOURS in advance of the contest. The team defaulting will receive a loss and their opponent will receive a win.

Playoffs A single elimination tournament will be held at the conclusion of the regular season. Team captains are responsible for verifying their playoff schedule at the end of the regular season by checking the standings on the website. Sportsmanship The mission of Intramural Sports is to provide a recreational environment for the University community which is safe and enjoyable. While the game atmosphere is often competitive, ensuring participant safety, providing a fun, social atmosphere and promoting sportsmanlike behavior among participants, spectators, and team followers are our primary concerns. The game atmosphere should remain good-natured at all times. Participants shall maintain good sportsmanship throughout their participation in all facets of the intramural program. No participant, spectator, or team follower shall at any time: A. Use foul or derogatory language, threaten or verbally abuse any other participant or intramural employee before, during or after a game. This includes trash talk. B. Participate in a game for which he or she is ineligible. C. Argue or talk back to a game official or supervisor. Only the team captain may address the official in a courteous manner concerning the interpretation of a rule. D. Intentionally strike, push, or trip another player or instigate or be involved in any fighting. E. Mistreat the facility, equipment, or supplies of Lycoming College. F. Bring items or attend any intramural event under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol. Team sportsmanship is graded following each contest according to the following scale and criteria: "A" Excellent Conduct and Sportsmanship Players cooperate fully with the officials about rule interpretations and calls. The captain also has full control of his/her teammates. "B" Good Conduct and Sportsmanship Team members verbally complain about some decisions made by the officials and/or show minor dissension which may or may not merit a warning from the game officials or supervisor.

"C" Average conduct and Sportsmanship Team shows verbal dissent towards officials and/or the opposing team which may or may not merit a yellow card. Captain exhibits minor control over his/herself. Teams receiving multiple warnings (yellow cards) or having a player ejected for an unsportsmanlike act should receive no higher than a "C" rating. "D" Below Average Conduct and Sportsmanship Teams constantly comment to the officials and/or opposing teams from the field and/or sidelines. The team captain exhibits little or no control over teammates or himself/herself. "F" Poor Conduct and Sportsmanship Team is completely uncooperative. Captain has no control over teammates and/or himself/herself. Any team causing a game to be forfeited, other than by not showing, or has multiple players ejected, shall receive an "F" rating. Team Sportsmanship & Playoff Eligibility A team must have a "B" average or better sportsmanship rating during regular season league games to be eligible for the playoffs. Special Game Situations A team winning a game by default or forfeit with no game play occurring will receive an "A" rating, unless special circumstances dictate otherwise. A team that wins a game by forfeit after the game has started and game play has occurred shall receive a rating based on their sportsmanship in the game play up to the time of the forfeit. A team losing by default or forfeit will receive no team sportsmanship rating for the game. Player Ejections All ejected players are suspended from intramural sports must immediately leave the building and not return until the Director is contacted. The suspension is indefinite in length until each of the following procedures is completed. A. To regain eligibility for any further intramural play, the ejected player must prepare a written statement detailing the events surrounding the ejection and give this to the Director. B. The ejected player must make an appointment to meet with the Director to discuss the incident. Assumption of Risk Individuals assume a risk of injury or even death while voluntarily electing to participate in physical activity. All participants are strongly encouraged to have a health

evaluation; to consult with their personal physician to determine appropriate fitness level; to use good judgment concerning their ability to participate and appropriate level of their participation and to carry medical insurance coverage. Campus Recreation strongly recommends all students not covered by health and accident insurance to purchase student insurance. Lycoming College and the Recreation & Intramural Department are NOT liable for injuries sustained during practice for, or participation in any scheduled activity. Participants are advised to have proper medical coverage before participating. If an injury occurs during an Intramural contest, the supervisor or official will give any assistance possible. If further assistance is needed, the supervisor will summon additional help. A report of the injury should be recorded on the proper forms and filed with the Recreation & Intramural Department. Jewelry Policy Jewelry is not allowed to be worn by any participant during an Intramural contest. This includes any rings, watches, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and any other such similar jewelry. The following pieces of jewelry are permissible but must be secured to the body: medical bracelets and religious jewelry. The officials and supervisors on duty have the authority to disallow any participant from participating that they feel would endanger the person wearing the jewelry or their opponents until it is removed. Headgear Policy Headgear is not allowed to be worn by any participant during an Intramural contest. For INDOOR sports, this headgear includes: any hats, bandanas, baseball caps, winter/wool hats, and any other similar headgear. This also applies to OUTDOOR sports with the following exceptions: winter/wool hats are allowed. The officials and supervisors on duty have the authority to disallow any participant from participating that they feel would endanger the person wearing the headgear or their opponents until it is removed. Additional Safety Information NONE of the following are allowed to be worn by any participant during an Intramural contest: *Street pants (jeans, khakis, etc.) *Bare feet *A guard, cast or brace made of hard leather, plaster, metal or any other hard substance, even though covered with soft padding when worn on the elbow, hand, finger, wrist or forearm.

Sports Officials Intramural Sports always needs officials. Opportunities include officiating for flag football, volleyball, basketball, indoor soccer and various other activities. No prior officiating experience is necessary, but knowledge of sports, dependability and a level head are required. Awards Each participant of the championship team must have played in at least half of the team s total games in order to be eligible for an award. A maximum of (12) awards will be distributed to the winning team. Team awards will be distributed through the team captain.
