THE TRANSMITTER y 2018 EDITION AMA CHARTER 1458 DAVENPORT RADIO CONTROL SOCIETY President's Report Hi all, Another Scale Meet is in the books, and a thanks to the best weather we have had for years, it was a record breaker. First a great big Thank You to all that helped!! In particular, thanks to Dave C. who had the field in tip top shape and took care of all the prizes and, generally, just took care of what ever needed to get done --Thanks Dave!! Next, for those that didn't hear, our food situation threw a curve ball at us 1 week before the event--johnnies could not make it. We put our heads together and came up with a plan and Dirko, my wife Francine, Dave C's wife Karen, and their daughter Lesa, along with Dave J's girlfriend, Carla, manned the tent all afternoon and nearly sold out of everything we had. We even managed to make a few bucks on the food---thank YOU!!!! The weather cooperated for once, and we had light winds pretty much down the runway. We had 38 pilots register, and 39 Giant scale planes, and 28 Sport planes--awesome. The only "problem" we had was we ran out of parking for pilots. I will take that "problem" every year!!! The flying was great, we had several times that I recall when we had 5 planes up, and people waiting in line. John Denger came thru with an awesome job on the microphone--just the right amount of talk / music I thought John-perfect. The job is yours as long as you want it!! John was on the mic, and everyone could hear him due to the professional sound system we had thanks to Dean--Thank you Dean! A group effort as you can tell, and that is why it worked, THANKS again to all that helped, and a big THANK YOU to all that showed up to fly. We had several out of town guests which is always nice to see. Our out of town guests included 12 year old Caden Kramer, who flew the crap out of his 35% Super Decathalon, very impressive Caden, if you can see this. The pilot votes were totaled and the results were in (photos below): Sport class 1st place, Jeff Ziegler with his Hellcat. 2nd place, Nick Ziegler with his Ford Fliver 3rd place, Jerry Raisbeck with his Extra 300 Giant class 1st place, Mark Shelstron with his WW1 Sopwith Pup 2nd place, Rob Petsche with his Gilmore Red Lion 3rd place, Jerry Clemmens with his Stearman

Page 2 Best of Show Gary Warren with his BAE Hawk Due to our experience with the food situation at the Scale Meet, we talked a bit at the board meeting about maybe coming up with a "food committee". The food committee's job would be to be in charge, start to finish, for the food at our 3 club events that need food to be sold, The Scale Meet, the Combat Event, and the Swap Meet. Currently that job falls to the person organizing the event and, usually, that person's family. We have 100 or so members, and this job could, and should be easily accomplished by club members. We can talk about particulars at up coming meetings, but I think we should try it. The next event is the Combat Event in tember, so we have a little time. The committee would be guided, of course, at first by those of us who have been doing it up until now, but, in time, could be responsible from start to finish. Think about it and we will need some input on how to make it happen. That's all I got for now. Get out and get some flying in, if it cools off some. The next meeting will be Monday at the Field. The long term forecast looks good. And remember we try to get there early and throw some things on the grill--bring what ever you want to cook. I will not be at the meeting, but our fearless VP, Rodd, will be so come out and enjoy some flying on Monday. See ya at the field, Steve NO MINUTES RECEIVED FROM JUNE MEETING Scale Meet Wrapup: I second thank you's to everyone who helped make this Scale Meet great! As Steve said, we actually made some money on this event. I have forwarded the details to Rodd to share at Monday's meeting as I will not be present either (no, Steve and I will NOT be together!) A BIG THANK YOU to the following sponsors that donated items for the Pilot's Prize Pool: Major's Art & Hobby Brian Gebhart APC Props Balsa USA BSI Bob Smith Industries

Let me know and I can check into prices. Also, since I will not be at the meeting, Ben Ehreke has volunteered to bring his grill. You may want to bring your own plates, condiments, etc., since the Club's pantry will not be there either. Have a good meeting! David Colgan 563-940-9385
