M. Daniels, J. T. Penfold & W. M. Friend RACE 1: Benchmark 58 Handicap 2200m Bonnie Sare Rounding the first turn was steadied after improving onto heels. Camayoc Inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages. Delacroix Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it had blood present in the off side nostril. Trainer Mr W. Gavenlock was advised that the gelding is required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to its next race start (AR53A). Light Motion Began awkwardly. RACE 2: 3YO Maiden Plate 1000m Annie Ethyl Overraced whilst being restrained to obtain cover in the early stages. Continued to overrace in the middle stages. Approaching the home turn became held up on heels and was unable to improve until passing the 300m. Fantasy Blundered shortly after the start. Overraced in the middle stages. Passing the 500m became held up on heels and was unable to improve until passing the 200m. Miracle Knight Hung out down the straight and proved difficult to ride with full vigour. Trainer Mr K. King was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings racing manners. Principle Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Rabaab Eased from heels shortly after the start. Serene Beauty Slow to begin. Passing the 500m became held up on heels and was unable to be fully tested until shifting in around heels near the 200m. RACE 3: Benchmark 58 Handicap 1000m Commandeering Trainer Mr B. Hull was fined $200 for failing to scratch the gelding by the prescribed time (LR36A).
2 First Wave Eased when tightened for room shortly after the start. Shortly after straightening was obliged to ease out around heels to continue to improve. Raced in restricted room over the final 100m and was not tested over the final strides. Let s Rebelle Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Myboycellito Eased when momentarily tightened for room near the 500m. Ready Zaim Fire Began awkwardly. Shakespearean Hung out in the middle stages and rounding the home turn, running wide on the track. Trainer Mr M. Cox was advised that the gelding is required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. RACE 4: 4YO+ Maiden Plate 1100m Ezy Sqeezy Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Greatduck - Slow to begin. Bumped on two occasions shortly after the start. Approaching the 900m shifted out abruptly after pulling its way up onto heels. Luv Our Stratum Rounding the home turn became held up on heels and was unable to be fully tested until approaching the 200m. Money Travels Bumped and unbalanced on two occasions shortly after the start. Buffeted between runners passing the 1000m. Hampered near the 900m. Moringa s Hiemie When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding jockey M. McGuren stated that his mount enjoyed a comfortable run behind the leaders throughout the early and middle stages. M. McGuren stated that when the leaders sprinted at the entrance to the straight his mount was unable to sprint with them and was disappointing in its run to the line. M. McGuren stated that his mount raced like a tired horse. When questioned, trainer Mr M. Trihey stated that the gelding may have reached the end of its preparation and a decision on its immediate racing future will be made in the comings days. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Red Facets Blundered on jumping. Overraced approaching and passing the 900m. Approaching the home turn was steadied after improving onto heels. Shortly after straightening was obliged to shift out around heels to continue to improve. Roman Senator Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Sweet Kiara Bumped shortly after the start. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the mare jockey J. Watkins stated that his mount failed to travel comfortably at any stage of the event being inclined to race greenly. J. Watkins stated that when he asked his mount to sprint at the entrance to the straight it failed to respond and he desisted from riding it along over the final 100m as it was a beaten horse. A post race veterinary examination of the mare revealed it to be tying up. There s Always One Eased when tightened for room passing the 900m.
3 Trust in Cash Slow to begin. Bumped shortly after the start and eased when tightened for room shortly after. Eased after improving onto heels approaching the 400m. Unable to improve approaching and rounding the home turn when held up on heels. Hampered near the 200m. RACE 5: Maiden Handicap 1700m Backhouse Frilly Unable to improve between the 600m and 400m when held up on heels. El Casco Unable to improve between the 600m and 500m when held up on heels. In Seattle Slow to begin. Bumped rounding the home turn. Just Radish A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was beaten 25.97L, did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr M. Trihey was advised that the gelding is required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. King of Monaco Began awkwardly. Eased after improving onto heels passing the 600m. Approaching the 500m became held up on heels and was unable to improve until the entrance to the straight. Styk At It Tightened for room rounding the home turn. Laid in throughout the event. Terrorfilo Trainer Mr S. Lee was fined $100 for failing to declare Ms O. Pickering as the rider of the mare by the prescribed time (LR35). Slow to begin (2L) and into stride losing further ground. Trainer Mr S. Lee was advised that a warning would be placed against the mare. Approaching the 500m became held up on heels and was unable to improve until the entrance to the straight. Inclined to lay in down the straight. Tyrion s Crown Eased when tightened for room near the 500m. Veganza When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the mare jockey M. McGuren stated that he had intended on settling in a handy position however his mount was slow to begin and was obliged to settle in a position worse than midfield. M. McGuren stated that his mount failed to travel strongly throughout the early and middle stages and was under full pressure from the 500m. M. McGuren stated that his mount was very disappointing in its run to the line and in his opinion raced like a tired horse. A post race veterinary examination of the mare revealed it to be mildly lame in the off hind leg (1/5). Trainer Ms J. Graham advised that the mare would be spelled immediately. RACE 6: Class 1 Handicap 1400m Acraman Rounding the home turn was steadied when disappointed for a run. Arrogant Boy Overraced rounding the first turn. Binnacle Laid in between the 200m and 100m. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in the early and middle stages, in particular why, when her mount was pulling, she did not allow it to stride forward and lead the event but rather held a position three wide outside the leaders, apprentice Ms L. Kilner stated that she was under strict instruction not to lead on the gelding as when ridden like this in the past it has been unable to sustain a finishing effort.
4 Ms Kilner stated her mount pulled its way into a position three wide outside the leaders in the early stages and she was unable to restrain it to a position with cover. Ms Kilner stated appreciating the instructions she had been given she elected to hold this position rather than stride forward and lead the event. Trainer Mr A. Foran confirmed the instructions. Cresta Cosmic Slow to begin. Clipped heels and blundered shortly after the start. Obsessions Bumped on jumping. Inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages. Ornate Began awkwardly. Overraced approaching the first turn. RACE 7: Class 2 Handicap 1600m Field of Fire - Trainer Mr D. Bowen was fined $100 for failing to declare L. Rolls as the rider of the mare by the prescribed time (LR35). As L. Rolls had left the course stewards permitted P. Graham to replace him as the rider of the gelding. L. Rolls will be interviewed regarding his failure to fulfil a riding engagement at a date to be fixed. Slow to begin. Unable to improve between the 500m and home turn when held up on heels. Madam Mouton Slow to begin. Mudgee Road Slow to begin. Pretty Smart When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in the early stages, in particular restraining to a position worse than midfield, Ms S. Bogenhuber stated that the only instructions she is given when riding the mare is to allow it to settle where comfortable and not pressure it in the early stages. Ms Bogenhuber stated that from the wide barrier today her mount began fairly and worked its way into a forward position. Ms Bogenhuber stated that passing the 1400m it became apparent her mount was going to be caught wide and she elected to ease it to obtain a position with cover as opposed to riding it along to cross the runners to her inside. Steppin Out Made an awkward stride rounding the turn at the 1200m. Yeah the Boys Near the 1200m was checked when bumped out across heels. Summary of whip use: Stewards noted the following riders exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m under AR137A(5)(a)(ii).
