Show B: 3:30 pm- Performers arrive at theatre. Performance begins at 4:00 pm. PERFORMERS ARE TO BE PERFORMANCE READY WHEN THEY ARRIVE unless they have an appointment to have hair and makeup done by our professional stylist. Costumes must be covered with street clothes or robes. If your child is in both shows, there will be a break, but there may not be enough time to leave for lunch depending on where you are in the show order. Be prepared. Pack a healthy lunch if needed. NOTE: Pre performance is NOT a good time to eat a greasy burger, pizza or have sugary drinks! Lunches may be enjoyed in the lobby. NO LUNCHES IN DRESSING ROOMS! Finale At the end of both shows all of performers will participate in a finale. This will be practiced in class. All performers will wear their recital t-shirts. It s fine if it is over their costume of with street clothes. The t-shirt will be provided at no charge. Awards will be given in class prior to recital. 2
Student Check In When students arrive they should be checked in and then brought directly to their dressing room. Only one parent or guardian per student will be permitted backstage to the dressing room area. There will be a sign-in table where that parent or guardian will be given a stamp to be presented when it is time to pick up their child. This is for the safety of all of our students and the success of their show. I thank you in advance for your cooperation. DO NOT STAY IN THE DRESSING ROOM WITH YOUR STUDENTS. There will be volunteers to supervise and help your kids with any costume or hair changes. If everyone is in the dressing room it will break fire codes and create chaos. Pick kids up as soon as they are done rehearsing all of the pieces they are in. Be sure to sign them out! (See pick up details below.) Student Pick Up ALL students under age 12 will remain backstage in their dressing room until the end of the show. After the show, the parent that signed them in and received the backstage stamp must retrieve their student(s) from the dressing room. Students that are 13 and older may meet their parents in the lobby. Audience Etiquette We ask that all of our audience members show courtesy to all of the performers and other audience members by remaining seated for the entire show, with the exception of removing noisy children from the theater. Each show is only about 1.5 hours long. Photography Policy Please remember that there will be absolutely NO PHOTOGRAPHY DURING THE SHOW OR REHEARSAL. All electronic devices with a camera put off light that can cause distraction and injury as well as diminish the quality of our DVD recording! Miss Amy WILL STOP THE SHOW ( AGAIN ) TO TELL THE AUDIENCE TO PUT THE CAMERAS AWAY, SO PLEASE LET YOUR GUESTS KNOW ABOUT THIS RULE. 3
Costume, Hair and Makeup Each dance is a team effort and every dancer deserves the opportunity to be part of a polished number that they can be proud of. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO NOT LET DANCERS GO ON STAGE IF THEY ARE NOT IN PROPER COSTUME, HAIR AND MAKEUP, OR IF THEY ARE WEARING DIRTY OR TORN TIGHTS OR COSTUME PIECES OR ARE MISSING COSTUME PIECES. Details about each class s costume accessories and hairstyles will be posted in the costume binder at the front desk. Ask your child s teacher if you have any questions. Want help with hair and/or makeup? Our professional stylist is ready to assist. You can have her do your child s hair and/ or makeup for just $15 each. She will be available at both picture days, at dress rehearsal and on show day. Spots are limited. You can sign up online here or at the desk at Motion Studio. Note: When signing up online for hair and makeup, hair will be one 15 minute time slot and makeup will be another 15 minute time slot. If you want to have both hair and makeup done, be sure to sign up for 2 slots. Make-Up The purpose of makeup for performances is to be sure we can see the dancers faces under the lights without their features being washed out. It is no way an attempt to make them look more grown up than they should. Hair and Makeup Tutorials Please take time to check out the tutorials that we have found for you to help you be comfortable with doing your dancers hair and makeup. Makeup Tutorial Ballet Bun Tutorial NO MESSY BUNS!!!! NO HAIR IN THE FACE!!!! NO FLY-AWAYS!!! Tights and Undergarments Tights worn onstage should be new. Tights must be clean, free of runs or holes and should be purchased at Motion Studio to ensure color match. Extra tights will be available at the theatre and will be charged to your card on file if your dancer needs them. NO UNDERWEAR! No panties should be worn under tights. If a bra in needed, it should be concealed completely with clear straps if the straps show. If female dancers have a costume change, it is a a great idea to have a nude leotard to wear under costumes as there is not time or space for dancers to go into a bathroom to change. You can purchase a nude leotard at Motion Studio for $18 plus tax. 4
