Goller and Ludwig have netted two bronze medals on the 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Tour with third-place finishes at the season opener in April at Brasilia and last week at the Moscow Grand Slaml. Goller and Ludwig are tied with compatriots Katrin Holtwick and Ilka Semmloer for the European tour point s leadership. For three events this season on the European circuit, Goller and Ludwig have a 14-1 match mark on the 2009 European tour with two titles and a third. Ludwig was named the SWATCH FIVB World Tour most improved player in 2007 with Tamsin Barnett of Australia. Arvaniti and Tsiartsiani are competing together for the first-time in 2009 with the World Series Grand Chelem their first semi-final appearance together. After placing seventh (Brasilia) and fifth (Osaka) together in their first two FIVB events together, Arvaniti and Tsiartsiani have finished 25th (Seoul), ninth (Stavanger world championships), 17th (Gstaad) and 17th (Moscow) in their next four tournaments. Arvaniti and Tsiartsiani have placed second (Spain), fifth (Austria) and fifth (Germany) in three European tour events this season with a 10-5 match mark. Arvaniti is a two-time Olympian by placing ninth in the Athens 2004 Summer Games with Efthalia Koutroumanidou and 19th at the Beijing 2008 Olympics with Vasso Karadassiou. Arvaniti and Karadassiou captured Greece s only SWATCH FIVB World Tour gold medal at the 2005 Norwegian stop in Stavanger by defeating Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca of Brazil in the finals. Arvaniti and Karadassiou were the gold medal winners at the 2005 and 2007 European championships in Moscow and Valencia, Spain, respectively. Arvaniti and Karadassiou won seven European Tour gold medals together from 2005 through 2008. Arvaniti and Karadassiou were the 2006 European tour champions. Arvaniti was named the SWATCH FIVB World Tour most improved player in 2005. Arvaniti was a fourth-place finisher with Koutroumanidou at the 2002 SWATCH FIVB World Championships for players under the age of 21 in Catania, Italy. Tsiartsiani and Koutroumanidou placed ninth at the Beijing 2004 Olympic Games. Tsiartsiani attempted to qualify for the Athens 2004 Summer Games with Katerina Nikolaidou. Tsiartsiani and Koutroumanidou placed fourth at the 2007 Marseille event. Tsiartsiani best FIVB finish was a 2005 second with Koutroumanidou Portugal where the Greeks lost the Espinho finale to Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh of the United States.
