September 2014 Newsletter September Meeting: Members present: John Gilbert, Rick Torres, Don Wallace, Darrel Holmes, Don Furtado, Phil and Sandy Newell, Roy Sharpe, Sam Toll, Terry Trimble, Daniel Sessoms, Malen Nieto, Jorge and Dee Dee Pineda (guests from the Nor Cal Goats Club), Chris S. (guest from the Nor Cal Goats Club), Jim Carmon (guest), Mike Archambault, Curtis Saunders, Mike Hart, and Dan Irwin. A motion was made by John Gilbert and seconded by Don Wallace to approve the minutes of the last meeting. We had guests Jorge and Dee Dee Pineda and Chris S. from the Nor Cal Goats Club. Jorge has a red 2004 6-speed GTO that is modified for drag racing. It turns 11.9 ETs at the drag strip and happens to be featured on our poster. Another guest in attendance was Jim Carmon who recently bought a red on red stock 2006 GTO. The car only has 11,600 miles on it and is in great shape! Thanks Jim for attending our meeting and showing us your beautiful car! We hope to see you again soon! On-going Business: By-Laws update Sam brought a few copies of the updated club By-Laws draft and also E- mailed an electronic copy to Dan for distribution to all club members. The hardcopies that Sam brought were handed out at the meeting to members who don t have E-mail. Dan has since E- mailed a softcopy to the remaining members. All members are asked to supply any input they may have by the next club meeting on October 4 th, 2014. We had three online poster sales in August and at the time of the meeting, we already had three online poster sales in September. In August, we had our first poster damaged in shipping. The customer who received the damaged poster sent us pictures of the damaged shipping tube and poster. We gladly sent him a fresh poster. Special Note: Since the September meeting, our friend Jorge from the Nor Cal Goats Club has placed a post about our poster on the Nor Cal Goats Club Facebook page and a GTO Forum that he s a member of. Thanks to Jorge doing these posts immediately after our meeting on September 6th, we ve had 27 online poster orders as of this writing on September 12 th. A BIG thanks goes out to Jorge!
Dan is still working toward a more structured and professional looking newsletter to put on the club s website, but we still have this for the time being. The newsletter will also be sent via E- mail from the club s E-mail address. John Gilbert will supply printed copies as soon as possible to those members who do not have E-mail or Internet access. Curtis continues to improve his clubhouse and has hung the club s artwork from the 2004 Autorama on one of the walls. The club s mannequins that have been used in various club displays over the years are being stored at the clubhouse, however, some of them are in bad shape. Club officers will decide what to do with the mannequins. News: The ACCC Newsletter now shows the Northern California GTO Club as a member. The California DMV required at least 7,500 black and gold license plates ordered to re-produce them and ended up getting more like 8,100 orders. Items For Sale: A former club member who has an illness is selling a red 1968 GTO. The car is a coupe with a His and Hers shifter automatic, Rally II wheels, and hideaway headlamps. The asking price is $25,000. If interested, please contact his wife Pamela at 916-966-6712. Another former club member has some Hurst wheels for sale. The wheels are in prime condition with the flat Hurst center caps and come with bias red line tires. The asking price for this prime set of tires and wheels is $6,000. Please contact Phil at 916-769-5869 or 916-944-4247 if interested. This set of tires and wheels has only been used on his car for shows and would look great on a 1964 to 1967 GTO!
