Easter Brunch Sunday, April 5th Tennis News The upper courts now have an "Aussie Broom" for you to use. It is a rubberized type broom which allows for a more even distribution of courts surface material. It works much better than the brush brooms. Like golfers repairing ball marks, it would help the courts if you use the Aussie broom when you complete playing. It only takes a minute. When you are done with the Aussie Broom please hang the broom with the metal hook attached to the rope handle. This will increase the life of the surface and the broom. Thank you for your consideration and help in keeping our courts in great shape. Junior Golf Kickoff (Member Guest) Location: When: Driving Range and Practice Green Monday Mar 16, 4:00PM The beginning of the golf season is here and we are starting it off right with a FREE junior clinic that will involve instruction as well as games. This is the initial clinic of HCC's junior series that will last all year so bring the kids out for some fun. Henderson Country Club's Junior Golf Program focuses on all aspects of the game. It is designed to be fun, with a challenging and supportive environment so that the beginner or experienced player will learn and enjoy the game of golf. We strive to highlight the relationship between golf and personal development. Golf offers the opportunity to teach lessons in discipline, honesty and sportsmanship, as well as learning about tradition and honoring the rules of the game. From the GCM Crew Normally the March newsletter is when I talk about the kick off of spring, daylight savings, greens aeration and oh what a great start to the golfing season we are looking forward too. So for the sake of this submission and keeping with tradition, yes, we plan to aerate greens this month. We will core aerate the putting surfaces with a 5/8 coring tine, clean off the surfaces of all the plugs and topdress the greens with sand, working the material into the holes. Then we apply fertilizer and other beneficial nutrients to the greens and voila, we can kick off the 2015 golfing season and daylight savings and all the great things that accompany spring.if OLD MAN WINTER WILL EVER MAKE HIS EXODUS FROM THE SCENE!!!!!! Yup, as I sit here typing on the 25th of February we have snow on the ground and the potential for another few inches by the next morning. It has been bitterly cold and lets just say the golf course has seen more sledding than golfing. The GCM staff is suppose to begin our greens aeration the first week of March, which is next week as this submission is being composed. I m aware some of the members go
out west skiing each year. Hey guys, leave the snow where you found it! All kidding aside, winter is still hanging on and the golf course maintenance department is in a wait, watch and pray mode. We have a lot of chores we must get to this time of year to get the golf course ready for the season. But, we are at the mercy of God s weather and I am smart enough to just let Him play on through. In the mean time John Michael and I will make necessary adjustments to the maintenance and tournament schedules and rest assured a ton of golf will be played and enjoyed on a properly groomed golf course. I am happy to report that the intended bunkers have been rebuilt and are performing wonderfully. The GCM staff did capitalize on some inside work and made new tee markers. These were made of landscaping stone and painted the respected color of each teeing area. These will be much more durable than the ones we made out of wood. And they are much more attractive. I hope everyone will be careful and stay safe during winters last push before the spring rejuvenation begins. Be assured, warm weather is on its way and the golf course will be here waiting for you. Until then may God bless you and have a great March. Chris Langston
