The Award Entry Sheet and Award Guidelines for the Career Portfolio (Record Books) along with the CHARACTER COUNTS! Form can be picked up at the Extension Office or are available on line at http://nemaha.unl.edu/entryforms. If your club s Organizational Leader does not have enough Diamond Clover Application forms, you can pick up more of these forms at the Extension Office or find them on line as well. Remember that all of these awards will be given to 4-Hers at the Achievement Celebration & Leaders Recognition on Sunday, November 4 @ 5:30 p.m. at the 4-H Building. A huge thank you goes out to Ag Society members, superintendents, assistant superintendents, clerks, committee members, volunteers, 4-Hers, 4-H Clubs, and parents that made the 2018 Nemaha County Fair a fun and successful event! It takes the entire community working as a team to get the many pieces to come together for a first-place county fair. Nemaha County has many supporters of the 4-H Youth Program that continue to make the fair a great experience for 4-H members! THANK YOU!!! Nebraska 4 H Charter Club of Excellence & Year End Activity Report Due September 30 Nebraska 4 H Charter Club of Excellence applications will be due to the Nemaha County Extension Office on September 30. The forms were sent out to each Organizational Leader. The Extension Office has a statistical report due to the State Office. We need your reports to help us compile our report. The 4 H year runs from October 1 through September 30. If your club is a Club of Excellence then you will receive a gold seal at the Achievement Celebration. Congratulations to Nemaha County 4-Hers for entering 54 exhibits at the 2018 NE State Fair. This was an impressive number of well-prepared exhibits demonstrating personal growth and learning in the 4-H Program. To view results please go to: nebraska4hresults.com Static State Fair exhibits will be available for pick-up from the Extension Office beginning September 5 th. THANKS AGAIN! We wish to express our thanks and appreciation to Woodmen Life Chapter 29 and Nemaha County Farm Bureau for providing lunch meals to our 4-H Families on Friday & Saturday during the Fair. Extension is a division of the Institution of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln cooperating with the Counties and the United State Department of Agriculture. The 4-H Youth Development program abides with the nondiscrimination policies of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the United States Department of Agriculture.

September 2018, Volume 15, Issue 8 2 Awards Committee Meetings: Members of the Awards Committee will meet Monday, September 24 at the Courthouse Meeting Room, 5:30 p.m. to review the award application process and distribute the applications and career portfolios. The second committee meeting will be Wednesday, October 10 at 4:30 p.m. to determine county project area awards and those that will go to the district level. Those currently on the Awards Committee are: Beth Kernes-Krause, Donna Monnette, and Shelly Nichols. One additional person is needed to fill the position completed by Katie DeBuhr in 2017. The work done by Katie is greatly appreciated. Thank you! The Awards Committee members serve a threeyear term and determine the county award winners as well as those who will advance to district competition. 4-H parents, leaders, alumni and friends of 4-H are invited to become involved! THANK YOU... to leaders, parents and members of the Johnsonites and BU Stockraisers 4-H Clubs for running the 4-H Food Booth during the fair and your service to the community to Nancy Baltensperger and Raynell Able for coordinating all aspects of the 4-H Food Booth. The combination of welcoming smiles, great food and thirst-quenching beverages was exactly what fair-goers needed. Heartfelt thanks to everyone involved!! Top 4-H Horticulture Exhibit sponsored by Auburn Garden Club Christina Lillenas was awarded $25. Top 4-H Herb Exhibit Award sponsored by Paul and Kay Fish Elizabeth Hodges was awarded $25.00. September 2018, Volume 15, Issue 8 3 Show Your Appreciation National 4-H Week is October 7-13 Write your Thank You notes if you have not done so! The Friends of 4-H, other donors, and Premium Sale buyers took the time to donate money or come to the Premium Sale so we need to follow-up and send a Thank You for their support. Please take a few minutes and write your thank you note(s). If you have already written your thank you(s) and sent them, THANK YOU! Most of those exhibitors that took animals through the premium sale have brought their thank you notes in, as required for premium sale participants, and received their premium checks. (There are still a few checks waiting to be picked up.) Thank you 4-Hers for doing this. If you did not get a Thank You card for an award, please stop by the Extension Office and pick one up. Thank them, tell about your project and what you learned, and send a photo (if possible) and be sure to sign your full (first & last) name. Receiving Thank You notes this year may determine if a donor wants to donate next year! Answer: Complete a Career Portfolio OR NEW Achievement Application September 4-H Council Meeting, Monday September 24 at 6:30 p.m. Please be prepared to nominate individuals for the following awards: The Career 4-H Alumni Portfolio Award includes a Junior or Senior Awards Entry Sheet (depending on 4-Hers age), the portfolio, 4-H a Leader project 5 years story and or over stories, and photos. This collection of achievements, photos, and project stories 4-H becomes Leader under a wonderful 5 years book highlighting YOUR life. Collecting this information and keeping it organized Friend is of one 4-H of the skills that you learn in 4-H. You can use your book when you apply for college If you are unable to attend, please send a representative from your club in order to share the topics that were discussed with scholarships your club. (Bonus Bucks can be used to purchase 4-H t-shirts, chevrons, and armbands and pay for workshop fees, camps, CWF.) When you complete your awards application you also have the opportunity to earn ½ Camp Scholarships (maximum $100). The Awards Committee will award Bonus Bucks and ½ Camp Scholarships based on your Career Portfolio or Achievement Application. Don t miss this opportunity.
