Roster Requirements Please read the category that applies: Men s 2s: Minimum of 2 players, maximum of 3 players on a team roster Must have 2 players on the court at all times All players must be male Women s 2s: Minimum of 2 players, maximum of 3 players on a team roster Must have 2 players on the court at all times All players must be female Coed 4s: Minimum of 4 players, maximum of 7 players on a team roster Must have a minimum of 3 players on the court at all times Must have 2 females on the court at all times Coed 6s: Minimum of 6 players, maximum of 9 players on a team roster Must have a minimum of 5 players on the court at all times Must have 3 females on the court at all times Women s 4s: Minimum of 4 players, maximum of 7 players on a team roster Must have 3 players on the court at all times All players must be female (Ages 16+) Game Procedure Game Ball and Clipboard will remain on each court DO NOT REMOVE If games are running on time, a 5min Warmup is allowed. If games are running behind, please start games right away. 1
Please leave the court immediately following the end of your match. The next teams to play will then start warming up on the court. LEAGUE RULES BELOW MUST READ Self-Regulating the Game There are no referees. Teams and Players must call their own violations. Team captains can discuss any disputed calls only. Please ask any Beach Staff for clarifications on rules, if necessary. If the dispute cannot be solved, teams must re-serve to continue the match. Substitutions During Regular Season, using substitute players is legal (Please try to replace the player with an equal caliber substitution). All substitutions must be REGISTERED within the Beach League. NO substitutions during Playoffs, all players must be on the Team s Roster (Injuries are an exception Please consult with Beach Staff). Free Agents Free Agent contact information is available on our website: http://www.thebvc.ca/league-details-2/ Teams may use the Free Agent List to search for additional/substitute players (Please Contact: info@thebvc.ca) Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy 48 Hours Notice is MANDATORY for all game cancellations. Must contact the Team Captain of the opposing team(s) AND copy info@thebvc.ca to inform the League Coordinator about the cancellation. If a team does not show up for their match without notice of cancellation, they will be fined. 1 st Offence: $40 2 nd Offence: $60 3 rd Offence: Removed from the League Teams must pay all fines before they are allowed to play their next match. 2
Rescheduling: Court availability may be limited. We cannot guarantee that there will be an open court/timeslot to reschedule. Please send your request to info@thebvc.ca If a team is unable to make their match and there is no available time to reschedule that team will then default the match and count it as a loss. BVC League Game Rules Men s and Women s 2s Competitive Division: All players can spike and block from anywhere on the court. Jump serving is legal. Overhand volleying is NOT allowed on serve receive. Volleying the first ball on defense (not on serve receive) is legal when the attack is a hard-driven ball. When volleying the ball during a set, there is a maximum of ONE rotation on the ball allowed (NEW) If the ball is contacted during a block, this would count as the FIRST CONTACT. The ball must then be put over the net with NO MORE than TWO contacts. The blocker who touches the ball CAN play the ball on the next touch. 3

The 3 front-row players may spike or block from front row. Back row players (The 3 players in the back row at time of serve) cannot attempt a block at the net. Back row players attempting to spike the ball downwards from above the height of the net, must take off from behind the imaginary 3-metre line (approx. a minimum of 9 feet away from the net). Jump serving is illegal. Overhand volleying is NOT allowed on serve receive. A block is NOT considered a contact.
