Howdie to the handful, Commander's Corner Well, our first round of nominations for our Officers went pretty well. We have two more rounds to go and we still have a few spots open...this is your Post...please get involved. We had a huge success with the last Calusa Harbor Veterans party with over 20 in attendance. Great time, I heard, as Carol and I were still sick and down on our butts. They will be here again on March 9th, same time, same place. We will be serving them corned beef and cabbage this time around in conjunction with St. Paddy Wagon Day. George Taylor brought in a sample ceiling tile. It is displayed near the Northeast corner of the lounge. Shoot! All you have to do is look up and you'll see it. They look great and are washable as well. The full sized ones (2'x4') are $30. The smaller ones are $15. The price covers everything, tile artwork and installation. All you have to do is pick a spot and mark it with your name to save it, bring a copy of your logo or whatever and the verbage you want and it will happen. We will take them to George's contact and get them done and installed. That's it!!! Thanks goes out to Danny Bell for redoing and fixing 3 of our running and leaky toilets. Thanx Gomer!!! We are still in need of a part time beer slinger who is honest, honest, honest and did I mention HONEST??? It is basically a fill in spot and every other weekend. Its a great starting position with high management possibilities. (e..g. working on a ladder) Seriously, we need someone to fill the gap. Drop names off to Mary, Connie or myself. Thank God we haven't had anyone pass lately. We had a huge turnout for Buddy White last month. Jim Coffee, a friend of Buddys, gave us $100 in his honor and designated a spot for his ceiling tile, rightly so, over his favorite spot at the bar. An ongoing "ThankYou" goes out to all the ladies who help cater month after month to the Calusa Vets. You do a great job and I know they appreciate you as well. Don't forget March 10th. Thats when our beloved Government tells us what damn time it is. The idiots can't leave anything alone so we will have to set our clocks up 1 hour for a few months and then back again. WHAT IS THE OPPOSITE OF PROGRESS?? CONGRESS!!! I hope Y'all have a Happy Bunny Day and your health continues to be good. That's about it for now. MONTHLY MUSINGS: Education is when you read the fine print. Experience is what you get if you don't!! An optimist sees the donut, a pessimist sees the hole. Stay happy and healthy y'all. Yours in service, Dave Doty
