PREPARATION MISSION I am proud to introduce the first Mammoth Camp: Superheroes and Villains competition and the tenth annual battle at the Mammoth Camp! Each superhero has their own power and it s up to each group to use their superhero strength to win over the other condos. Both superheroes and villains will be represented in each condo. Let s see which group reigns supreme/ Each athlete is assigned to a condo and each condo has been assigned a color. These are your teammates and most trusted allies for the week. As much as we stress unity amongst the team as a whole, you must show unity within your condo to contribute towards winning the title of Mammoth Camp: Superheroes and Villains. You will be introduced to the rules and regulations of the competition in your next mission letter, however at this time, you have a preparation mission that will begin your cooperative work amongst your condo members. Below is the condo information as well as the first preparation mission. Good luck to you and your team. May the best team win! PRECAMP MISSION/MISSON #1 The Life of a Superhero GRAY: SUNDAY X-men RED: MONDAY Justice League WHITE: TUESDAY Transformers YELLOW: WEDNESDAY Avengers & Fantastic Four BLACK: FRIDAY Old School: Captain Planet, Power Rangers, TMNT PRECAMP MISSION: (See Schedule Above) Each condo will do a short display on the powers (talents) of a few of their team members to intrigue the other superheroes and villains from the other condos. With all presentations this year, all powers (talents) should not include any form of physical violence. Use your five minutes (MAX) to entertain the group and if you show yourself to be the most entertaining, you will win this challenge. MISSION #1: The Life of a Superhero Tuesday, August 7 Make a comic strip come alive as you tell a story of a particular superhero or a group of superheroes. Your story should not simply be scenes of acting out physical violence, rather use your characters to tell a story circling around a member or members of your team. Your presentation should be between five and ten minutes and can be a play, movie scene, live music scene or more. Dance, sing, act - no matter what you choose, make sure you come ready to PERFORM! Try to be original and create your own setting, style and even words/music, and don't forget that any type of appropriate entertainment is acceptable. (Do not be offensive or obsene.) Clothing, sets, props, lighting and more is optional but probably necessary to take this event, which is worth mucho, mucho points! How you do it is up to you, however, you must include ALL group members and you must keep the noise to a minimum. Make sure it s entertaining no matter how you choose to represent your kingdom (theme)! Don t forget that entertainment finds a way to connect with the audience! Plan ahead since you may start planning before we leave for Mammoth! MISSION #1 Scene or Trailer MISSION Target Completion Date and Time: (Friday at 6pm) It's your condo's opportunity to be CREATIVE by creating a music video displaying the superheros and villains of your group! Based on what name/focus your condo has chosen, decide what you wish to include in your five minute video to be shown at the fireless campfire. You can create a music video that shows off your group members in any APPROPRIATE way and must be set to a song not exceeding five minutes. You may also combine songs as long as the length is shorter than five minutes. It is preferred that you use your condo workday on Tuesday to shoot a continuous scene that requires very little (if any) editing, as we do not want you to have to spend long hours working on the video while at camp. Your videos can be edited, however, all media cannot be captured before August5, the first day of the camp! In addition, you must be able to play the video on the main computer (bring your own flash drives, camera RCA cables, etc.). In addition, on your condo camera, you should have a confessional from each individual on your team reflecting on their Mammoth experience and sending out any final messages to anyone! The confessionals will not be shown at Mammoth and only parts may be used for the end of the year video, thus, speak your mind! A FlipCam will provided to each condo! Furthermore, each team must keep a video log of their adventures and may also use their own cameras for a photo log for potential bonus points! Log entries into your video journal at each location you are at and be sure to get some of the scenery in. Make sure you hold that camera steady because shaky footage means shaky results. Don't forget to log those videos and capture each moment!
