. Overview a. Any archer with a Blue classification or above must register to be considered for selection as a representative of Archery WA at either the National Youth or Senior Championships. b. To achieve a selection ranking, archers must shoot a minimum number of the nominated ranking event rounds and participate in the State Target championship, State Field Championship and for youth members the Clout Championships in the period months prior to the National Championship event. c. Archers competing interstate or at international events at the time of the State Championship may submit scores from the event that they are attending in lieu of the attending the State Championships. d. Registrations close four calendar month after the conclusion of the relevant National Championships for the archer s age group at the next National Championship. e. Acknowledgement of receipt of registration by the State Team Selection Committee by email is to be done within 4 days of the receipt of such registration. f. To register for selection the archer must apply on the approved forms, Schedule Application for Selection, Schedule Personal Details, Schedule 3 Fitness Screening, to the AWA Selection Committee, g. At the time of adopting this policy, and the selection of the State Teams for the next National Championships, if no Ranking Events have been conducted then only the following clauses will apply;. Ranking Events (RE) i. Clause (a) and (d) ii. Clause (b) and (c), iii. Clause 4 (c),(e),(f), (i), (j), (k) and (l) iv. Clause 5 v. In addition to the above the period of nomination will close one calendar month after the date of adoption of this policy. All score submitted must be verified by the archer s club recorder and submitted on the approved form Schedule 4 Qualifying Scores. a. Ranking Events may be held by any Club provided they are official shoots. All FITA Star, Nationally registered Qualifying and Ranking Events (QRE), State Championships (Target, Field and Clout) and Arrowhead events are automatically ratified as ranking events. b. The rounds that can be used as ranking events are: i. FITA 90/440 ii. FITA 70/440 iii. FITA 60/440 300 0.0 043 Version.0 Page

iv. Intermediate v. Horsham vi. FITA 70/70 vii. FITA 60/70 viii. FITA 50/70 (Compound Only) ix. AA 50/70 x. AA 45/70 xi. AA 35/70 xii. Marked 4T FITA Field 43 or 48T FITA Field 43 xiii. Clout Distance Applicable to Archers Category c. The criteria for such an official shoot shall be: 3. Recording Procedure i. The Shooting Rules of Archery Australia apply ii. They are correctly timed (a stopwatch and whistle are adequate) iii. At least three Archery Australia members participate in the scoring and witnessing process. There does not need to be three archers of the particular division shooting the round. iv. The round shot must the same as the National Championship round that the archer would be required to shoot if selected. a. Club Recorders or a nominated Club representative is required to check the scores of archers who have nominated for state team selection and who have shot in the RE and forward (within 4 days of the RE) a list of names and the score details to the State Team Selection Committee, by e-mail (insert Ranking Event in the subject line. b. The information forwarded shall include: i. Archers Name ii. Archers Division iii. Date of Shoot iv. Number of Archers shooting v. Round shot by each individual archer vi. Score obtained by each individual archer and for target events the score for each distance if the round contains multiple distances. c. Any queries in reference to ranking scores should be directed to State Team Selection Committee. 4. Teams Selection Process a. Selection in an Archery WA State Team shall be conditional on achieving a ranking. This ranking shall be compared with the ranking of other archers, with the highest ranked archers offered a place in the team. b. Archers shall obtain a ranking by shooting the appropriate 44 arrow target rounds, 7 arrow target round and 7 arrow field rounds at any World Archery, Archery Australia, Archery WA or a Western Australian Club venue. Scores from Qualifying Ranking Events (QREs) or FITA Star/Arrowhead events held in WA, interstate or overseas may also be included. 300 0.0 043 Version.0 Page 3

c. In order to be eligible for selection, archers are required to submit scores for at least: i. 3 x 44 arrow National Championships Target rounds for their Division; and ii. 3 x 7 arrow Match-play/QRE rounds for their category and division; and iii. x Field Rounds as programmed for the National Championships for their Category; and iv. One () of the Target 440 scores and one () of the Target 70 scores submitted during the selection period must be at a Red Classification rating for the archer, to be considered for team selection. For Youth Divisions only v. x 36 arrow Clout scores for their Category, d. Archers may submit as many scores as they wish with only the highest three (3) 44 arrow Target, 7 arrow Target, two () Field scores and for youth two () highest Single clout score, counting towards the final ranking. e. The qualifying period starts at the conclusion of the previous National Championships and all scores submitted must have been achieved during the qualifying period. f. Four (4) months prior to the relevant Championships, all archers on the list will be contacted by email asking them to indicate their willingness to be in the State Team if selected. g. The ranking lists will close three (3) months prior to the relevant Championships and the selected archers who indicated a willingness to be considered will be formally offered a place in the State Team by Archery WA h. The Archery WA State team will consist of; i. Senior Team four (4) highest ranked archer and one () reserve (5 th highest ranked archer) in,. Compound men,. Compound women, 3. Recurve men, and, 4. Recurve women. ii. Youth Team - ten (0) highest ranked archers and two () reserves ( th and th highest ranked archer) in,. Compound Division,. Recurve Division, i. After being offered a position on the Archery WA State Team the archer must accept the offer within 5 days, (the archers will have already had a month to consider their options). If an archer declines a place, or does not respond to the offer, it will be offered to the next highest ranked archer in that Division/Category. If the next and/or subsequent archers have not reached the Red Classification minimum requirement, no further positions will be filled. 300 0.0 043 Version.0 Page 4

j. Should an archer have to withdraw after the team is officially named, the same process will be used to try and fill that position if minimum requirements have been reached by the prospective replacement(s). k. Once the team has been announced and at the discretion of the State Coach, there may be a number of scheduled compulsory training sessions prior to the relevant National Championships. These dates shall be advertised prior to archers giving final team acceptance. 5. Ranking Calculations. a. A Member of the State Team Selection Committee or designate will collate these scores as they accumulate and distribute a current ranking list to all Clubs and on the AWA website. b. The current ranking of an archer is calculated by rating each archer s three highest 44 arrows rounds, and the three highest 7 arrow rounds that have been submitted using the following methodology; i. Each Ranking Event (RE) score that is submitted for the Target Ranking Events will be rated in accordance to sub-clause c, ii. The average rating (AR) for all of the Target scores submitted will be calculated. Using the following formula; AR = AVG(RE) iii. The qualifying rating for the Red Target Classification (RTC) for the archers category (Division bow type and Class Age Group), will be obtained from the tables in Schedule 4A. of the Archery Australia Constitution and Rules. iv. The following formula will then be applied to obtain the archers State Team Rating (STR); STR = RTC AR the STR will be calculated to two () decimal places. c. The Official AA rating table will be the only source for determining the appropriate rating number for the scores submitted. d. Until the archer has submitted three (3) 44 round or three (3) 70 round ranking event scores the archers STR will remain at zero (0). 6. State Team Selection Ranking List a. The following explanations provide guidance in interpreting the ranking lists and it will include the following columns. i. Archers Name self explanatory ii. Division at Nationals This is the lowest age group that the archer can complete at the Nationals. 300 0.0 043 Version.0 Page 5

iii. 44 Round The 44 arrows round that the archer will need to shoot at the relevant National Championship. iv. 7 Round the 7 arrow round that the archer will need to shoot at the relevant National Championship Matchplay v. Qualifying Target Rating for Category (Red Classification). vi. 44 # Highest score submitted for the relevant 44 arrow round vii. 44 # & 44 #3 the next two highest scores submitted for the relevant 44 arrow round. viii. 7 # highest score submitted for the relevant 7 arrow round. ix. 7 # & 7 #3 the next two highest scores submitted for the relevant 7 arrow round. x. Rate #- #3 AA Rating for 440 rounds. xi. Rate #4 - #6 AA Rating for 70 Rounds xii. Field # and Field # The two highest scores submitted for the relevant field round to be shot. xiii. Clout # and Clout # Single clout score submitted for relevant rounds. (Youth Only) xiv. AR Average Rating for Target Rounds xv. STR This decides the position of the rankings for those having met the minimum requirements. b. Appendix A includes a sample State Team Rating sheet. 7. Payment of Costs a. Each nominee is responsible for the follow costs: i. Entry Fee to the National Championship; ii. Travel to and from their place of residence to the venue: iii. All accommodation costs; iv. All meal and beverage costs. b. At the completion of the event archers who have been by nominated by Archery WA under clause 4.h can make application to the Council of Clubs for reimbursement of the National Championship entry fee, provided that they can demonstrate that they have completed in all the nominated events at the championship. i. I acknowledge and accept that a failure to abide by any of the conditions above will automatically void my registration for selection as a State Team Member. Further, my registration will not be re-instated for the event nominated. SCHEDULE 3 Medical and Fitness Screening Questionnaire As part Archery WA s ongoing duty to care to applicants registering for selection as members of a AWA State Team, it is important that the team managers, coaches and assistant are fully aware of any existing medical conditions. If a medical condition is identified, a Medical Action Plan will need to be developed so as to ensure that in the event of a medical emergency, correct assistance can be provided. The information that you provide will assist us in determining if you will need to obtain medical clearance prior to commencement of any training program that AWA may introduce. Please answer each question with either a Yes or No, or provide the required information requested.
