FROM THE PRESIDENT Howdy y'all. here it is time for another volume of our newsletter. When I asked Carson Kate to take over the newsletter, she gave me my marching orders of providing something for each month. So here I sit at the computer trying to figure out something to put down on paper. Now, people who know me would never say that I'm shy about voicing my opinion on a number of topics. I do however try to steer clear of politics and religion. I know that when I receive the newsletter, I don't want to read the ramblings of some opinionated dude who goes on and on about something I'm already aware of. So, I will do that to you either. Carson Kate had some computer problems which kept her from publishing this newsletter for the last couple of months. After she got it back from the repair person (the computer geek) she had to start all over from scratch as most of the things that she had on her hard drive had somehow disappeared. Now that she is up and running, it should be a lot easier to get these things out. Kate is doing a good job and I want to thank her for standing up and accepting the responsibility for making this newsletter something that everyone wants to read. While I'm at it, I guess I should thank Sagebrush Sam (as usual) for the great work he does in setting up and conducting our shoots. It was a little cold during our last shoot but Sam set it up so we didn't have to do a lot of movement which might have caused one of us to slip and fall on the ice and mud. I also want to thank Roop for inviting me to their last shoot in which the weather was better than I've ever seen for February. Smithy and I surprised them by showing up and shooting with them. I had a good time and those targets sure did look big. We went to breakfast before the shoot and had a good time socializing. As I told the shooters last Sunday, our club is going to be designing some clean match pins. We will be making the decision on the pins design at our next business meeting on March 14 th. If you have an idea on what the pins should look like, please e-mail me (marshallgoldy@frontier.com) or come to the next business meeting with your ideas and a sketch. Smithy's revenge is coming up soon and it is going to be a humdinger of a shoot. It will be a long shoot as there will be five stages and we will be shooting big bore and belly guns. If you don't have either of these guns come out and shoot any way as there will be big bore rifles and belly guns that you can borrow from our other members. I would also like you to start thinking about elections for our Board of Directors which is coming up in a few months. Now, dag-nab-it, don't get me wrong, the Board of Directors we have now is a darn good group. These folks bust their hump to make our club the best around and the most fun. It's just that sometimes it's good to get new blood in the old heart of the club to keep it pumping strong. Don't be shy, just step on up. And last, I want to welcome Ephraim as the newest member of the dog-gone-best cowboy action shooting club west of the Big Muddy. I was talking with Smithy and he suggested that our club members (that shoot black powder) get together and place an order. I sure do need some and would like NOT to pay the high cost of the store bought stuff. So, if any of you would like to get in on a powder order, please call me at 265-0267 or email me at marshallgoldy@frontier.com. We will be starting to sell raffle tickets for the main item at "Smithy's Revenge". It will be a $200.00 certificate for a custom leather holster rigs valued at $400.00. It is a chance to get a holster rig custom made to your specifications for just the price of a $10.00 ticket. You will have to be a shooter at "Smithy's Revenge" and be there when the winning ticket is drawn. There will also be other raffle prizes and awards for the 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd place shooters. Keep warm and keep that powder dry! - - Shotgun Marshal Pg. 2

MATCH DIRECTOR Howdy....Well thanks to everyone who came out and shoot with us in the cold weather. January was nicer than this month, as we still had snow and a lot of mud. Weather wasn t really too bad. Hoped everyone liked the stages. This month we did stand and deliver type stages, as it was too muddy to move around much but we all wanted to shoot. Special welcome to Old Ephraim, our newest member. JANUARY BIRTHDAYS Remember Smithy s Revenge is coming up and we will have big bore, belly gun, regular cowboy rifle, 2 pistols and your shotgun. Shooters meeting will be at 9:00 and we will start shooting right after. Hope everyone appreciated the 10 new targets we had this month. We plan on getting some more, but one of our shooters did find out that no matter how big they are, you can still miss them!!! Thanks to everyone who came out and helped setup and tear down, as it is always appreciated. Thanks to Jasper Agate, CC Dollar and Irish Ike for coming out in January, hope to see them more often. Remember in May, we have our annual Buffalo Shoot again. I know it is a little early, but it doesn t hurt thinking about it. Come on out and camp and have fun with us. Just remember to dress cowboy.
