May 2016 ***Friday, June 10, POA meeting, 7:00, downtown Ashland, bring your lawn chair. Officer and board member meeting for activity planning at 6:30. Reminder: there are a bunch of fun activities coming up fast...now is the time to make some plans! All activities are so much more fun if everyone attends! I went to the Goodguys Day at the Hay last year and it was a very good event...should be even bigger this year and more organized. It s a pricy entry fee but Lincoln isn t far away and you won t see these cars at Flashbacks! June 25th..discount entry fee before June 11th! Sat June 4th is the Gretna High School Skills USA show at the high school. June 25th is Old Settlers Days in North Bend, NE. July 4th Car Show in Hooper NE. And Cruisers on Main Street in Fremont is July 9th. July 1st through the 3rd is Heartland Nationals Good Guys event in Des Moines...great show at the Fairgrounds, probably 3,000 cars. Where can I get me some of this?

Diane s Notes Pontiac Owner's Association was called to order Friday, May 6, 2016, at Don Carmelo's in Elkhorn. President Chuck Merica, presided. with twenty-six members present. New members, Tammy and Jerry Johnson, '37 Pontiac, brought their son, Ryan, who owns a '71 LeMans. Another new member, Rick Magee, introduced himself. Rick and his wife Carol are from Gretna and Rick drove his '70 GTO Ram Air Judge. Chuck thanked the members who drove the ice cream cruise to Fremont and Mel's Diner. It was a fun afternoon but overwhelmed the waitresses at Mel's. Activities chair, Don Wahonick, said POA is lined up for the Ralston 4th of July Parade. It is a "good deal, good for the club and is an all day event". Seven more Pontiacs are needed, call Don-402-597- 4114. Larry Davis has made arrangements at Plaza Buick-GMC, at 119th & I St. Omaha, for a Pontiac Tech Day, August 14th, 10:00-3:00. This will all be located in the employee parking lot, but members will be allowed inside. This event will be advertised on Craig's List, the clubs' newsletters, the webpage and facebook. Larry would like volunteers, knowledgeable on their Pontiacs, to give him a call. 402-672-7100 Shawn Kniesly gave an update on the I-29 Dragway. The Pontiac Challenge is August 20th, with a raindate of August 21st (same day as the 4th Annual Pontiac Show and Shine). President Chuck is trying to locate the parade banner, which has not been used in recent years. It is white with blue lettering. Anyone knowing of its whereabouts, please contact Chuck. Chuck has blue Pontiac t-shirts in Large and X Large, for sale. He would like to sell these shirts before ordering more. Claudia Mathes has applications to the national Pontiac organization. Anyone attending the POCI Nationals in Bettendorf, this July, and entering a car, needs to have a POCI membership. With a membership you will receive the monthly, all Pontiac, magazine "Smoke Signals". President of Nebraskaland, Tom Rappl, invited POA to a potluck-meeting, May 22nd, in Lincoln. Hamburgers, provided. Alan Fanning motioned to adjourn. Jim Black, seconded. Chuck asked if all were in favor and the meeting was adjourned. There was no cruise night in Plattsmouth, so members drove to Dairy Chef for ice cream. Next meeting will be Friday, June 10th in downtown Ashland. Bring your lawn chair. There is a variety of food options, available. There will be an officer, board member meeting at 6:30. All members are welcome to attend. Respectfully submitted by, Diane Rappl POA would like to express deepest sympathies to Mark and Kendall Tonjes for the loss of Mark's mother. Condolences are also sent to Kevin and Karna Wagner for the loss of Kevin's mother and Karna s father. 2

I highly recommend that you join the Nebraska Rod and Custom Association. They work hard for the car hobby in Nebraska all year round. Dues are cheap and they don t ask much of your time. You can join on line at: www.nrca.wildapricot.org I ve told this story a couple of times but here s proof! Below is a scan from Pontiac Enthusiast Magazine, Sep/Oct 1996 with coverage of the GTOAA Nationals in Denver, CO. Upper left is a picture of Wagon as displayed by Christine (Walls) Dentz. Barbara and I attended this meet and I fell in love with the car and hung around until I could meet Christine. Since then we ve become good friends and she eventually sold Wagon to us. This is also the meet where we met Howard and Dottie Toelle who took 1st place in their class at the show with their 66 GTO. Don t remember the asking price of the go kart but wish I had bought it! 4

Pontiac Owners Association is a group of people who really like Pontiac cars. You don t have to own one to join.
