The Owls hold a slim 13-11 advantage over the Trojans and have won the past two after sweeping Troy last season. ROAD WOES The Owls are still in search of their first road victory of the season. FAU has dropped all seven of their games away from Boca Raton including a neutral site game against Eastern Illinois during the Miami Thanksgiviing Tournament in November. EAGLE CRY FAU erased a 16-point halftime deficit and defeated Georgia Southern 68-65 in dramatic fashion on December 12 in Boca Raton. Lyrell Barfield scored a game-high 20 points and hit the game winning 3-point field goal with 6 seconds remaining. CENTURY MARK FAU notched 100 points for the first time since December 28, 2001 when they scored 101 points against USF. The Owls defeated Webber 103-48 on opening day. PROGRAM TURNOVER Seven seniors departed from last season s roster including over 40% of the offense and 75% of the rebounding. The Owls have five players (Barfield, Byczkowski, Dinkins, Stamps and Turner) returning from last year s squad. BARFIELD OF DREAMS FAU returns its leading scorer from a season ago, Lyrell Barfield. The Owls lone senior on the FAU roster averaged 12.3 points per game last season, edging out third team all-conference selection Brittany Bowe by one-tenth of a point. Barfield is in her second season on the FAU roster after transferring from Midland JC (TX) prior to her junior year. Barfield was also named to the preseason All-Sun Belt third team, marking the second straight-season an FAU player has been named to the preseason allconference team (Brittany Bowe 3rd team). STAMP OF APPROVAL With the departure of point guard Brittany Bowe, who was among the leaders in the Sun Belt in assists per game last season, junior Teri Stamps will be called upon to take over the point guard duties. The junior from Milwaukee, WI led FAU with a 45.2% shooting percentage from three-point range last season and tallied 33 assists. SUNSHINE STATE OF MIND Unlike last season, which saw FAU play three out-of-state road games in the first month, the Owls will not leave the state of Florida until December 19 against St. Louis. Head Coach Chancellor Dugan has scheduled the first nine games of the season in Florida including road matchups against Jacksonville, North Florida, USF and at the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament in Coral Gables. SEE YOU IN MARCH FAU s main goal of the season is to win the very competitive Sun Belt Conference. Last season the SBC had a conference RPI in the top-10 and two teams (UALR, MTSU) qualified in the field of 64 for the NCAA Women s Basketball Tournament.

CHANCELLOR DUGAN Head Coach (12th season) 299-265 265 Overall Record (140-192 192 at FAU) Eastern Kentucky University (BS, Physical Education, 82) Morehead State University (MA, Health, 89) Coaching Experience 1983-85: 85: George West HS (TX) Head Coach 1985-86: 86: Alabama Assistant Coach 1986-89: 89: Morehead State Assistant Coach 1989-91: 91: Eastern Kentucky Assistant Coach 1992-99: 99: Southern Indiana Head Coach 1999-Pres: Florida Atlantic Head Coach On July 1, 1999, Chancellor Dugan became the third head coach in Florida Atlantic women's basketball history. Ten consecutive conference tournament berths later, she has overseen the Owls transition into the competitive Sun Belt conference. FAU showed considerable improvements in the 2008-09 regular season. The Owls doubled their overall win total from six wins in 2007-08 year ago to 12, and more than quadrupled their conference win total from two to nine. In the process, the Owls picked up their first-ever conference wins over ULM, North Texas, Arkansas State and Denver. They also defeated two teams that would later qualify for the NCAA Tournament, Conference USA tournament champ UCF on November 22, and Middle Tennessee on Feb. 21. The win over the then-no. 25 ranked Blue Raiders is the first time the Owls have picked up a win over a Top 25 team in Division I. Despite having an undermanned roster in 2007-08, Dugan and the Owls were able to land some milestone victories in Sun Belt conference play. On Feb. 2, FAU held off Louisiana 65-62 for their first ever conference road win. Later that month, the Owls defeated rival FIU 64-59 to get their first win over their rival since 1996. The 2006-07 season featured FAU move into the Sun Belt Conference. The Owls finished their opening campaign with a 6-25 record, but ended the regular season with two consecutive conference victories. Dugan earned her 100th win at Florida Atlantic with an 88-77 victory over Akron on Nov. 17, 2006. She led FAU to the top in 2005-06, guiding the program to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1993 and first Atlantic Sun Conference Championship. Her squad went 20-11 on the year - the best win total in 13 seasons - and recorded its best season in the A- Sun, going 16-4 and finishing second in the regular season. The Owls moved on to face SEC power Louisiana State University in the first round of the San Antonio Regional. FAU made its presence felt against the Tigers, holding the lead midway through the first half before losing to the eventual national semifinalist. Prior to Dugan's arrival, no FAU team had posted a winning record in A- Sun play. Dugan's success at FAU was no surprise based on her eight years as head coach at the Southern Indiana (USI). There, she became the school's winningest coach with 159 wins and a winning percentage of.685. Fan interest in women's basketball soared during her tenure, as USI finished in the top 10 for Division II attendance threeconsecutive years and averaged a record 1,453 fans in 1996-97. The Louisville, KY, native graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1982 with a bachelor's degree in physical education and received a master's degree from Morehead State in 1989. While an undergraduate at EKU, Dugan was a three-year starter and finished her junior and senior seasons as the team's leading rebounder and second-leading scorer.
